  • Over 12,000 COVID-19 cases reported in one day, 78 new fatalities recorded

    NEW DELHI: India’s tally of COVID-19 cases rose to   1,08,26,363 with 12,059 new infections being reported in a day, while the daily deaths fell below 100 for the third time this month, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Sunday.

    The death toll increased to 1,54,996 with 78 daily new fatalities, the lowest recorded after nine months, the data updated at 8 am showed.

    The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 1,05,22,601 pushing the national COVID-19 recovery rate of 97.20 per cent, while the case fatality rate stands at 1.43 per cent.

    The COVID-19 active caseload remained below 2 lakh.

    There are 1,48,766 active coronavirus infections in the country which comprises 1.37 per cent of the total caseload, the data stated.

    India’s COVID-19 tally had crossed the 20-lakh mark on August 7, 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5 and 50 lakh on September 16.

    It went past 60 lakh on September 28, 70 lakh on October 11, crossed 80 lakh on October 29, 90 lakh on November 20 and surpassed the one-crore mark on December 19.

    According to ICMR, 20,13,68,378 samples have been tested up to February 6, with 6,95,789 samples being tested on Saturday.

    The 78 new fatalities include 25 from Maharashtra, 16 from Kerala, 5 from Punjab and 4 each from Delhi and Uttar Pradesh.

    A total of 1,54,996 deaths have been reported so far in the country, including 51,280 from Maharashtra, followed by 12,382 from Tamil Nadu,  12,233 from Karnataka, 10,877 from Delhi, 10,202 from West Bengal, 8,686 from Uttar Pradesh and 7,159 from Andhra Pradesh.

    The Health Ministry stressed that more than 70 per cent of the deaths occurred due to comorbidities.

    “Our figures are being reconciled with the Indian Council of Medical Research,” the ministry said on its website, adding that state-wise distribution of figures is subject to further verification and reconciliation.

    NEW DELHI: With 12,899 people testing positive for coronavirus infection in a day, India’s COVID-19 tally of cases rose to 1,07,90,183, while the recoveries surged to 1,04,80,455, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Thursday.

    The death toll increased to 1,54,703 with 107 new fatalities, the data updated at 8 am showed.

    The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 1,04,80,455 pushing the national COVID-19 recovery rate of 97.13 per cent, while the COVID-19 case fatality rate stands at 1.43 per cent.

    The total COVID-19 active caes remained below 2 lakh.

    There are 1,55,025 active coronavirus infections in the country which comprise 1.44 per cent of the total cases, the data stated.

  • COVID-19: India reports 8,635 new cases, lowest in eight months

    NEW DELHI: India registered 8,635 new coronavirus infections in a day, the lowest in eight months, while the daily deaths fell below 100 after almost nine months, according to Union health ministry data updated on Tuesday.

    The country’s COVID-19 tally stands at 1,07,66,245 and the death toll increased to 1,54,486 with 94 new fatalities, the data updated at 8 am showed.

    The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 1,04,48,406 pushing the national recovery rate to 97.05 per cent, while the COVID-19 case fatality rate has dropped to 1.43 per cent.

    The COVID-19 active caseload remained below two lakh for the 14th consecutive day.

    There are 1,63,353 active coronavirus infections in the country which comprise 1.52 per cent of the total caseload, the data stated.

    NEW DELHI: With 11,427 new coronavirus cases being reported in a day, India’s COVID-19 tally has increased to 1,07,57,610, while the number of people who have recuperated from the disease has surged to 1,04,34,983, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Monday.

    The national recovery rate surged to 97 per cent.

    The death toll increased to 1,54,392 with 118 daily new fatalities.

    The COVID-19 case fatality rate stands at 1.44 per cent, the data updated at 8 am showed.

    The COVID-19 active cases remained below 2 lakh for the 13th consecutive day.

    There are 1,68,235 active coronavirus infections in the country which comprise 1.56 per cent of the total caseload, the data stated.

    India’s COVID-19 tally had crossed the 20-lakh mark on August 7, 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5 and 50 lakh on September 16.

    It went past  60 lakh on September 28,  70 lakh on  October 11, crossed 80 lakh on October 29,  90 lakh on November 20 and surpassed the one-crore mark on December 19.

    According to the ICMR, 19,70,92,635 samples have been tested up to January 31 with 5,04,263 samples being tested on Sunday.

    The 118 new fatalities include 40 from Maharashtra, 21 from Kerala, 9 from West Bengal, 8 from Uttar Pradesh, 6 each from Punjab and Tamil Nadu, 4 each from Delhi and Karnataka.

  • COVID-19: India records 13,083 fresh cases, 137 more fatalities; recovery rate 96.98 per cent

    NEW DELHI: With 13,083 fresh cases, India’s COVID-19 tally has gone up to 1,07,33,131, while 1,04,09,160 patients have recuperated so far, pushing the national recovery rate to 96.98 per cent, the health ministry said on Saturday.

    The viral disease has claimed 137 more lives in the country in a span of 24 hours and the death toll now stands at 1,54,147, it added.

    There are 1,69,824 active coronavirus cases in the country currently, which account for only 1.58 per cent of the total number of cases, the ministry’s data updated at 8 am showed.

    The COVID-19 case fatality rate stood at 1.44 per cent, it stated.

    According to the ICMR, a total of 19,58,37,408 samples have so far been tested for the viral disease across the country, including 7,56,329 on Friday.

    India’s COVID-19 tally had crossed the 20-lakh mark on August 7 last year, the 30-lakh mark on August 23 and the 40-lakh mark on September 5.

    It went past 50 lakh on September 16, 60 lakh on September 28, 70 lakh on October 11, 80 lakh on October 29, 90 lakh on November 20 and the one-crore mark on December 19.

    The 137 latest fatalities include 56 from Maharashtra, 22 from Kerala, 11 from Punjab, seven from West Bengal, six from Delhi and four from Uttar Pradesh.

    Of the total 1,54,147 COVID-19 deaths reported so far in the country, Maharashtra accounts for the highest number of 51,000, followed by Tamil Nadu (12,345), Karnataka (12,211), Delhi (10,841), West Bengal (10,155), Uttar Pradesh (8,646), Andhra Pradesh (7,152), Punjab (5,601) and Gujarat (4,385).

    The health ministry stressed that more than 70 per cent of the COVID-19 deaths in the country occurred due to comorbidities.

  • India records 9,102 fresh COVID-19 cases, lowest in around eight months

    NEW DELHI: India reported 9,102 fresh coronavirus cases in a day, the lowest in around eight months, as the infection tally reached 1,06,76,838, according to Union Health Ministry data on Tuesday.

    During the same period, 117 fatalities were recorded, also the lowest in over eight months, taking the death toll to 1,53,587.

    India had reported a single-day rise of 8,909 cases on June 3 and 103 deaths on May 16.

    According to the health ministry, 1,03,45,985 people have recuperated from the disease so far pushing the national COVID-19 recovery rate to 96.90 per cent.

    The case fatality rate stood at 1.44 per cent.

    There are 1,77,266 active cases of coronavirus infections in the country which comprises 1.66 per cent of the total cases reported so far.

    It was for the seventh consecutive day that the active caseload remained below 2 lakh.

    India’s COVID-19 tally had crossed the 20-lakh mark on August 7, 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5 and 50 lakh on September 16.

    It surpassed the one-crore mark on December 19 last year.

    Of the total coronavirus-related deaths reported so far in the country, Maharashtra registered 50,815 fatalities, Tamil Nadu 12,320, Karnataka 12,200, Delhi 10,813, West Bengal 10,122, Uttar Pradesh 8,624 and Andhra Pradesh 7,149.

  • COVID-19: 131 more deaths in India in last 24 hours, lowest in over eight months

    NEW DELHI: India recorded the lowest number of coronavirus fatalities in over eight months with 131 more deaths being recorded, the Health Ministry said on Monday.

    The COVID-19 caseload rose to 1,06,67,736 with 13,203 more infections.

    There are 1,84,182 active cases, which is 1.73 per cent of the caseload and it remained below 2 lakh for the sixth consecutive day, according to the ministry data.

    As many as 1,03,30,084 people have recuperated, taking the recovery rate to 96.83 per cent,.

    The fatality rate rose to 1.4 per cent and 131 more deaths include 45 from Maharashtra, 20 from Kerala, nine from Delhi and eight each from Chhattisgarh, West Bengal and Uttar Pradesh.

    A total of 1,53,470 deaths have been reported so far in the country, including 50,785 from Maharashtra, followed by 12,316 in Tamil Nadu, 12,197 in Karnataka, 10,808 in Delhi, 10,115 in West Bengal, 8,617 in Uttar Pradesh and 7,147 in Andhra Pradesh.

    According to the ICMR, 19.23 crore tests have been conducted so far with 5,70,246 samples being tested on Sunday.

    The ministry stressed that more than 70 per cent of the deaths occurred due to comorbidities.

    NEW DELHI: India’s daily new COVID-19 cases fell below 19,000 for the fifth time this month, taking the country’s caseload to 1,04,13,417, while the recoveries have surged to 1,00,37,398, according to data updated by the Union health ministry on Friday.

    A total of 18,139 new infections were reported in a day, while the death toll increased to 1,50,570 as 234 more people succumbed to the disease during the same period, the data updated at 8 am showed.

    The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 1,00,37,398, pushing the national recovery rate to 96.39 per cent, while the COVID-19 case fatality rate stood at 1.45 per cent.

    The active COVID-19 caseload remained below three lakh for the 18th consecutive day.

    There are 2,25,449 active coronavirus infections in the country, which account for 2.16 per cent of the total caseload, the data stated.
