Tensions between Pakistan and India may be fueled by the country’s top military official, according to Imran Khan’s sister, Aleema Khan. In a recent interview, she described Pakistan Army Chief General Asim Munir as a “radicalized Islamist” who actively desires a conflict with India. Aleema Khan asserted that Munir’s conservative Islamic ideology compels him to engage in hostilities with non-Islamic nations.

She drew a stark contrast between her brother, former Prime Minister Imran Khan, and General Munir, characterizing Imran as a “pure liberal” who consistently sought to foster positive relations with India, including its ruling party. Aleema Khan suggested that any return of Imran Khan to power would likely see improved India-Pakistan ties, while General Munir’s influence would inevitably lead to war and instability for India and its allies.

Meanwhile, Imran Khan himself has issued a statement from prison, labeling General Munir a “mentally unstable tyrant.” He accused the army chief of orchestrating his and his wife’s imprisonment on false pretenses and alleged they have endured severe mental torture, comparing his prison conditions to death row. Khan further claimed that Munir’s policies have harmed Pakistan and led to a rise in terrorism, driven by personal interests.

Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan and his son Abdullah Azam have been handed a seven-year prison sentence by a Special MP-MLA Magistrate Court in Rampur, Uttar Pradesh. The conviction stems…

Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan and his son Abdullah Azam have been handed a seven-year prison sentence by a Special MP-MLA Magistrate Court in Rampur, Uttar Pradesh. The conviction stems from a dual PAN Card case, initiated by a complaint from BJP leader Akash Saxena in December 2019. Saxena alleged that Khan and his son possessed two PAN Cards each, purportedly obtained using forged documents and featuring different dates of birth. These dual cards were allegedly used for banking transactions and income tax filings.

This sentencing occurs while Azam Khan is already grappling with over 100 cases. He was recently released on bail in September after serving approximately 23 months in Rampur jail. Earlier, he was acquitted in a separate case involving alleged misuse of his official letterhead and seal for defamatory statements against the BJP and the RSS. That incident, dating back to 2014 when Khan was a UP government minister, was dismissed by a Lucknow court due to insufficient evidence.

Following his release, Azam Khan has expressed his intent to remain active in state politics. He recently met with Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, describing their bond as familial. Khan has also been vocal in his criticism of the current BJP government in Uttar Pradesh, asserting a collapse in law and order. He described the situation as ‘law’ having gone missing, with only ‘order’ prevailing.

Activist Sonam Wangchuk, currently incarcerated in Jodhpur Central Jail, has called for an independent judicial inquiry into the deaths of four individuals during a protest in Leh. He has stated his willingness to remain in jail until this demand is met. Wangchuk was arrested by Leh police on September 26 and charged under the National Security Act (NSA) for allegedly instigating protestors who were demonstrating for statehood of the Union Territory, which began on September 24.

Sajjad Kargili, leader of the Kargil Democratic Alliance (KDA), shared a message from Wangchuk through his elder brother, Ka Tsetan Dorjey Ley, and advocate Mustafa Haji, who visited him in jail on October 4.

In his message, Wangchuk expressed his well-being, both physically and mentally, and thanked supporters for their concern and prayers. He conveyed condolences to the families of the deceased and offered prayers for the injured and arrested. Wangchuk’s main message emphasized the necessity of an independent judicial inquiry into the deaths of the four protesters, and reiterated his commitment to remaining in jail until this inquiry is initiated.

He also reaffirmed his support for the Apex Body and the KDA in their campaign for Sixth Schedule status and statehood for Ladakh. Wangchuk declared his unwavering support for the Apex Body and KDA, as well as the people of Ladakh, in their legitimate constitutional demand for the Sixth Schedule and Statehood. He pledged to stand wholeheartedly with any actions the Apex Body undertakes in the interest of Ladakh. This message was shared on X by Kargili.

Kargili wrote: “Sonam Wangchuk’s message from Central Jail, Jodhpur. Today on the 4th of October Ka Tsetan Dorjey Ley (Sonam Wangchuk’s elder brother) and advocate Mustafa Haji met Mr. Sonam Wangchuk at Jodhpur Central Jail. Mr. Sonam has conveyed the following message to the people of Ladakh and India.”

The Baha’i community faces increasing governmental oppression in Qatar and Iran. Human rights organizations report the arbitrary arrest, property seizure, and harsh sentencing of Baha’is in these countries. Similar conditions…

The Baha’i community faces increasing governmental oppression in Qatar and Iran. Human rights organizations report the arbitrary arrest, property seizure, and harsh sentencing of Baha’is in these countries. Similar conditions are seen in Yemen, Bahrain, and Egypt.

The Baha’i faith, established in the 1860s, emphasizes the unity of all religions and humanity. In Muslim-majority countries, it is viewed with suspicion because Baha’is consider a Persian individual as their prophet, while Islam regards Prophet Muhammad as the final prophet.

In Qatar, the government is expelling Baha’is, preventing the reconstruction of their cemeteries, and refusing to recognize their marriage certificates. Baha’i leaders are being punished for practicing their faith.

A prominent case involves Remi Rohani, a leading figure in the Baha’i community in Qatar. The 71-year-old Rohani received a five-year prison sentence for sharing Baha’i holiday greetings and promoting Baha’i beliefs on social media. The court alleged he questioned Islamic teachings.

Rohani was also accused of illegally collecting and sending money abroad, despite the government’s prior knowledge. His daughter, residing in Australia, has described the decision as devastating and shocking.

The United Nations and human rights organizations have stated that Qatar’s actions violate religious freedom, which is guaranteed in the Qatari constitution. Despite this, the Baha’i community is being targeted.

In Iran, the situation is even worse. Baha’is are being arrested without cause. Keyhan Maghsoudi has been imprisoned in Urmia since June. Armaghan Yazdani’s detention in Shiraz has been extended, and Roxana Vojdani is under house arrest for two years.

Shahrram Fallah, 64, was arrested in Kerman without charges. Government agencies raided the homes and shops of 10 Baha’i families in Isfahan. In Hamadan, six Baha’i women received a combined sentence of 39 years. In Tehran, Baha’i artist Paria Marandi was accused of protesting against the government and religious defamation.

Discrimination also exists in education. Baha’i students are being denied admission to universities in Iran, with their results marked as under review, preventing them from pursuing further education. Last year, 129 Baha’i students faced similar exclusion. A covert government policy is reportedly preventing Baha’i students from studying.

International organizations such as the United Nations, Amnesty International, and Human Rights Watch have warned that the persecution of the Baha’i community is a violation of religious freedom. These events highlight how Baha’is in Qatar and Iran are being punished solely because of their faith, which is considered against humanity.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched a strong critique against the opposition, alleging that they are plotting to govern from jail if convicted. Shah’s comments were directed at the opposition’s stance on the 130th Constitutional Amendment Bill. He suggested that the opposition aims to transform correctional facilities into centers of power, where high-ranking officials would take orders from incarcerated leaders. Shah made these remarks during an interview. He discussed the details of the newly introduced bill, “The Constitution (One Hundred and Thirtieth Amendment) Bill.”

Shah stated, “Even today, they are trying that if they ever go to jail, they will easily form the government from jail. The jail will be made CM House, PM House and the DGP, Chief Secretary, Cabinet Secretary or Home Secretary will take orders from the jail,”.

Shah expressed confidence that the bill would pass in Parliament. He predicted that many members of the Congress and the opposition would support the bill on moral grounds. The 130th Constitutional Amendment Bill, along with the Union Territories (Amendment) Bill, 2025, and the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation (Amendment) Bill, 2025, were introduced in the Lok Sabha during the Parliament Monsoon Session. The proposed amendment aims to prevent individuals in key constitutional roles, such as the Prime Minister, Chief Ministers, and Ministers at both the central and state levels, from governing while incarcerated. The bill includes a provision allowing accused politicians to seek bail within 30 days of arrest. If bail is not secured within this timeframe, the leader will be removed from office or automatically disqualified from their duties. They may resume their position if granted bail later.

During the monsoon session of Parliament on August 20th, the 130th Amendment Bill to the Constitution was introduced. This new bill stipulates that a Prime Minister, Chief Minister, or any…

During the monsoon session of Parliament on August 20th, the 130th Amendment Bill to the Constitution was introduced. This new bill stipulates that a Prime Minister, Chief Minister, or any minister must resign if arrested or detained for 30 days. Since its introduction in Parliament, the opposition has strongly criticized the bill, with Tejashwi Yadav calling it a blackmailing bill. However, the BJP’s allies, the TDP and Janata Dal United, have expressed their support for the bill.

The Telugu Desam Party (TDP), a key ally of the BJP in Andhra Pradesh, welcomed the Constitution (130th Amendment) Bill 2025, calling it a step towards clean politics, which the public has long awaited. They stated that this bill could also remove the Prime Minister.

Despite their support, the TDP also advocated sending the bill to a parliamentary panel for detailed scrutiny to prevent misuse. Regarding the bill, Shah stated in Parliament that the people of India want clean politics, but they also want a strong democracy. That’s why this bill was sent to the committee. When we touch the Constitution, we must do so with utmost care, like a jeweler polishing a diamond.

Janata Dal United leader Lalan Singh commented that democracy runs on public decorum. Considering this, the government of Prime Minister Narendra Modi introduced the Constitutional Amendment Bill in the Lok Sabha today. The bill includes a provision that the Prime Minister, Chief Minister, or ministers at the center and state levels will not be eligible to hold office if they are imprisoned in criminal cases and do not get bail within 30 days. He said that in recent years, it has been observed that some Chief Ministers/Ministers did not resign despite being jailed on corruption charges and continued to run their departments from jail, which is against the standards of high morality in public life.

He said that the central government introduced this bill in the Lok Sabha with the objective of establishing high moral standards in public life. During this time, the way the opposition displayed unparliamentary conduct with the Home Minister proves that the entire opposition in the country does not want to establish high standards of morality in public life. Whereas Prime Minister Narendra Modi is committed to establishing high standards of morality in public life.

I strongly condemn this undemocratic and uncivilized behavior of the opposition and I am fully confident that the people of the country will never accept those who oppose the establishment of high standards in public life.

Regarding the Constitution (130th Amendment) Bill 2025, the opposition created a huge uproar in Parliament. Along with this, accusations of arbitrariness were also leveled against the government. Tejashwi Yadav called this bill a blackmailing bill, while Rahul Gandhi said that through this bill, we are being pushed back to the medieval age. Everything will be done according to the choice of the leader through this bill; whoever the leader does not like, will be removed.

The state of Terengganu in Malaysia has implemented strict laws for those who miss Friday prayers. Under the new regulations, any Muslim man absent from Friday prayers without a valid reason may face up to two years in prison. In addition to imprisonment, offenders may also be fined. This decision has drawn international criticism and has been denounced as a violation of human rights, presenting an image of Malaysia as more severe than even Pakistan and Saudi Arabia in its Islamic practices. First-time offenders may receive a jail sentence of up to two years, a fine of 3,000 ringgit (approximately $635 USD), or both. Previously, the penalty for missing Friday prayers three times in a row was a maximum of six months in prison or a fine of 1,000 ringgit (approximately $212 USD). Signboards will be placed in mosques to inform people about this rule. Action will be taken based on religious patrols and public complaints. The Terengganu Islamic Affairs Department will also be involved in these campaigns.
