  • One Naxalite killed in the encounter, security forces recovered arms, IED and other items

    An encounter between the police and the Naxalites has taken place in the Naxal-affected district of Dantewada. The jawans have fired the Naxalites by firing them swiftly. Two weapons, IEDs and other paraphernalia have been recovered from the spot.
    According to the information, security forces were informed of the Naxalite movement in Mustalanar. After which the team conducted a search operation by the police in Gidam police station area. During this, an encounter between the police and the Naxalites took place in Mustalanar.
    The soldiers killed a Naxalite in the encounter. After firing for a while, the Naxalites escaped from the spot. After the firing stopped, the bodies of the Naxalites were recovered by the security forces. At the same time, two weapons, IEDs and other items were recovered from the spot.

  • Three Hizbul overground workers arrested in Jammu and Kashmir’s Tral; IED components seized

    SRINAGAR: Security forces have arrested three overground workers linked with the Hizbul Mujahideen and seized materials used in improvised explosive devices (IEDs) from their possession, police said on Wednesday.

    Based on specific input regarding movement of terrorists, the forces launched an operation in Batagund and Dadsara villages of Tral and arrested the three terrorist associates, a police spokesperson said.

    They have been identified as Shafat Ahmad Sofi, Majid Mohammad Bhat and Umer Rashid Wani, he said.

    As per police records, they were involved in providing shelter, logistics and transportation for arms and ammunition to active Hizbul terrorists in Tral and Awantipora, he said.

    Incriminating materials, including eight electric detonators, seven anti-mechanism switches, three pressure/relay mechanism switches, an improvised switch and an anti-mine wireless antenna were recovered from the house of one of the arrested persons, the spokesperson added.

    On December 13, Cobra Battalion 208 was reported to have an IED bomb near Kasaram village near Kasaram Nala. After the information, the team of Cobra Battalion reached the spot and was defusing IED. During this time the bomb exploded and Vikas Kumar, Deputy Commandant of CRPF was hit by IED, the Deputy Commandant was brought from Sukma to Raipur in an injured state. He became a martyr during treatment. Shaheed Jawan Vikas Kumar was a resident of Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh.
    Parliamentary Secretary Mr. Vikas Upadhyay, DGP Mr. DM Awasthi, Special DG Naxal Mr. Ashok Juneja, Special DG of CRPF Mr. Kuldeep Kumar, arrived at the battalion of Mana to pay the last salute to Shaheed Vikas Kumar.

  • Four kg IED recovered by Naxalites in Bijapur, Chhattisgarh

    As part of the anti-Maoist operation being carried out in Bijapur, Chhattisgarh, the combined force of the police station Gangalur and Central Reserve Police 85 and Cobra 210 came out on area demining and de-mining. During this time, the team recovered four kg IED.

    It is being told that during the de-mining process, a four-kg IED planted by Maoists to damage the police party was recovered on the footpath, 500 meters from the route to Gangalur Baddepara. The IED was applied by the pressure switch system by the Maoists. The IED was recovered by the police party and deactivated.

    At Dantewada, two prize naxalites were arrested from Alnar hill by Kirandul police, DRG and CAF personnel. All the soldiers, including the in-charge of Kirandul police station, went out on patrol.

    The arrested Naxalites also include a female Naxal Sukki and has a reward of two lakh rupees and a reward of one lakh rupees on a male Naxalite Podiya. The arrested woman is a member of Naxal Sukki Platoon No. 24, while Podiya aka Konda is a member of Father Hidma Janamilisiya. Both Naxalites are residents of Alnar.
