  • Hugh Jackman’s ‘Reminiscence’ to release on August 27 in select Indian cities

MUMBAI: Warner Bros Pictures has announced that Hugh Jackman-starrer “Reminiscence” will release in India on the big screen on August 27.

The studio has already released “Mortal Combat”, “The Suicide Squad” and “The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It” in theatres here.

“Reminiscence”, which also features Rebecca Ferguson and Thandiwe Newton, revolves around Jackman’s Nick Bannister, a private investigator of the mind, who navigates the darkly alluring world of the past by helping his clients access lost memories.

Living on the fringes of the sunken Miami coast, his life is forever changed when he takes on a new client, Mae (Ferguson).

A simple matter of lost and found becomes a dangerous obsession.

As Bannister fights to find the truth about Mae’s disappearance, he uncovers a violent conspiracy, and must ultimately answer the question: how far would you go to hold on to the ones you love?

“The film explores the idea of memory and nostalgia as something that is potentially addictive, or just enticing to go back and live in the good old days, remember that time. And with this technology, you can relive it and just stay in the past. But what is the cost of that? And what does it mean for the future of these characters or even the present when you can so easily escape in the past?” Jackman said in a statement.

The Hollywood star is hopeful that the movie will appeal to his fans in the post-pandemic world.

“I think we live in this changing world. We’re in this post-pandemic world right now and we’re now coming out into it. Is it a new world? Are we going to try and re-create what we had before? And I think it’s a really interesting time and a very uncertain time. And I hope the movie resonates in that way, where it is wonderful to have memories, but as humans, we have to be constantly creating new ones. I hope in a way that this film opens that sort of discussion.”

Writer-director-producer Lisa Joy, who earlier co-created and directed TV series “Westworld”, makes her feature film directing debut with “Reminiscence,” and directs from her own original screenplay.

  • Hollywood star Hugh Jackman says skin biopsy result ‘inconclusive’, will get it rechecked post filming

    By PTI

LOS ANGELES: Hollywood star Hugh Jackman on Sunday gave an update about his skin biopsy, which he recently underwent for a possible cancer scare, saying that the result came back “inconclusive”.

The 52-year-old actor, who has a history of skin cancer on his nose, shared a post on Instagram and said he will go in for a recheck after he is done shooting in around two months.

“Update on my biopsy: It’s comeback ‘inconclusive’. This means they didn’t take enough. That said, the worst it can be is a Basel Cell Carcinoma (BCC). So when I’m done filming, I’ll have it rechecked,” Jackman wrote alongside a short video clip.

The Australian actor, internationally known for playing the mutant Wolverine in “X-Men” films, has been treated for basal cell carcinoma, the least dangerous of skin cancers, five times.

He last underwent treatment for the same in 2017.

In the video, Jackman said his doctors “are not that worried” about his condition.

He also reiterated his advice for his fans and followers to get regular skin tests and wear sunscreen.

The Golden Globe winner also expressed gratitude towards well wishers for their support.

“I’m seeing your comments and stories. If by posting about this I remind one person to go see their dermatologist – I’m happy,” he concluded the post.

Jackman is currently preparing for the Broadway revival of “The Music Man”, which is opening later this year.

He is also set to star in upcoming sci-fi movie “Reminiscence” for Warner Bros.

Also featuring Rebecca Ferguson and Thandiwe Newton, the film will release in the US on August 20.

LOS ANGELES: Sci-fi thriller “Reminiscence”, starring Hugh Jackman in the lead, will now open a week early in the US.

The movie, which marks the feature directorial debut of “Westworld” co-creator Lisa Joy, will release on August 20 instead of its previously scheduled date (August 27), reported Deadline.

This is the second time that studio Warner Bros has changed the film’s release.

It was previously set to debut in US theatres as well as on the streamer HBO Max on September 3 where it would have competed with Marvel Studios’ much-awaited superhero movie “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings”.

Co-starring Rebecca Ferguson, Thandie Newton and Cliff Curtis, “Reminiscence” follows Nicolas Bannister (Jackman), a rugged and solitary veteran living in a near-future Miami flooded by rising seas.

He is an expert in a dangerous occupation: he offers clients the chance to relive any memory they desire.

“His life changes when he meets Mae.

What begins as a simple matter of lost and found becomes a passionate love affair.

“But when a different client’s memories implicate Mae in a series of violent crimes, Bannister must delve through the dark world of the past to uncover the truth about the woman he fell for,” the official plotline reads.

The movie’s cast also includes Marina de Tavira, Daniel Wu, Mojean Aria, Brett Cullen, Natalie Martinez, Angela Sarafyan and Nico Parker.

“Reminiscence” has been produced by Jonathan Nolan, Michael De Luca and Aaron Ryder.

  • Hugh Jackman shares ‘Deadpool’ fan’s ‘career advice’ for Ryan Reynolds

NEW YORK: What happened when an “X-Men” fan had a chance encounter with Hugh Jackman? The admirer, who happened to be a New York City police officer, sent a message to Ryan Reynolds via the Wolverine star to cast Jackman in the third “Deadpool” movie, “even if it’s for a 10-minute cameo”, promising solid box office collections.

Jackman, who is best known for playing the adamantium-clawed mutant Wolverine/ Logan in the X-Men films of the now Disney-owned Marvel Studios, shared the video of Officer John Dobkowski on his verified Twitter account on Saturday.

“Officer Dobkowski is doling out incredibly smart career advice for @VancityReynolds. Sharing is caring,” Jackman captioned the video on the microblogging site.

In the 34-second-long clip, Dobkowski said, “Hey Ryan, you’ve got to get this guy in ‘Deadpool 3’. Even if it’s for a 10-minute cameo, that would be awesome. That movie would be so cool, so great, it would blow the box office.”

The officer also jokingly threatened to give Reynolds a ticket if Jackman doesn’t show up in the film. Sometimes for comic relief, sometimes for extending support during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, Jackman and Reynolds often put on a display of a “feud” on social media.

Jokes apart, Jackman has repeatedly said that he is not interested in returning as Wolverine, a role he played in the X-Men film series from 2000 to 2018, for which he holds the Guinness World Record for the “longest career as a live-action Marvel superhero”.

  • ‘Game of Thrones’ creators David Benioff, DB Weiss to develop ‘The Overstory’ as Netflix series

    By PTI
LOS ANGELES: “Game of Thrones” showrunners David Benioff and DB Weiss are developing a Netflix series based on Richard Powers’ Pulitzer Prize-winning novel “The Overstory”. According to Deadline, Benioff and Weiss will executive produce the series under their Netflix overall deal.

Hollywood star Hugh Jackman will also serve as executive producer along with Bernie Caulfield of Benioff and Weiss’s Bighead Littlehead production banner. Published in 2018, “The Overstory” tells the story of a world alongside ours that is vast, interconnected, resourceful, magnificently inventive, and almost invisible to us.

A handful of disparate people learn how to see that world and are drawn into its unfolding catastrophe. Richard Robbins has penned the pilot script and also executive produces the show. “The Overstory” series will be Benioff and Weiss’ third Netflix project after an adaptation of Liu Cixin’s sci-fi trilogy “The Remembrance of Earth’s Past” and “The Chair”, a six-part comedy series from showrunner Amanda Peet.
