In a new interview on HBO Max, the actor talks about how long it will take to get back in shape to portray the superhero. “I’ve learned you can’t rush it. I’ve learned that it takes time,” he said. “So, we have six months from when I finish [Broadway’s The Music Man] to when I started filming. And I’m not doing any other work. I’m going to be with my family and train. That’s going to be my job for six months.”

He also said, “And I’m really fit right now. There’s one thing that about eight shows a week being on Broadway singing and dancing, is I’m fit. So, I’m healthy. I have a good place to start.”

  • There’s way less tolerance for disrespectful behaviour on sets, says Hugh Jackman

    By PTI

LONDON: Australian star Hugh Jackman was relatively unknown when he was offered the chance to play Wolverine in the first “X-Men” in Hollywood and the actor says there is a lot to be proud about these movies despite the allegations surrounding its director and producer Bryan Singer’s misbehaviour.

The singer has been accused of sexual misconduct, which he has denied.

Actors like Halle Berry and Jennifer Lawrence, who starred in the movies, have spoken about how difficult it was to work with the director on the franchise, consisting of 13 films.

In an interview with The Guardian, the actor, who is currently promoting his latest film “The Son”, was asked whether the allegations had tainted the way he looked back at these movies.

“You know, that’s a really, really complicated question.”

“There’s a lot of things at stake there. ‘X-Men’ was the turning point, I believe, in terms of comic-book movies and I think there’s a lot to be proud of. And there are certainly questions to be asked and I think they should be asked. But I guess I don’t know how to elegantly answer that. I think it’s complex and ultimately I look back with pride at what we’ve achieved and what momentum that started,” Jackman said.

Asked whether his experience was similar to what others faced at the time, the actor said he was relatively new to Hollywood but things have changed for the better in recent years.

“This was my first movie in America, you gotta understand; it was all so new to me. I think it’s fair to say that… There are some stories, you know… I think there are some ways of being on set that would not happen now. And I think that things have changed for the better.

“There’s way less tolerance for disrespectful, marginalising, bullying, any oppressive behaviour. There’s zero tolerance for it now and people will speak out, and I think that’s great,” he added.

Jackman, 54, had decided to retire as Wolverine after 2017 classic hit “Logan”, where his character was killed off.

But earlier this year, he announced that he would be returning to the role in “Deadpool 3”, starring his close friend Ryan Reynolds.

Reynolds was quite persistent in convincing Jackman to revive the character.

The Hollywood star said he was “OK” with letting go of his career-defining role.

“I wasn’t tortured by it. When people would ask me (to reprise the role) including Ryan, every five seconds, I was like: I’m done.”

The actor said he decided to reprise his role as he knew he would have fun doing a Deadpool movie.

“I just wanted to do it and I felt it in my gut. Plus, I get to punch the s*** out of Ryan Reynolds every day,” he added.

  • Daniel Radcliffe denies rumours of playing Wolverine in ‘X-Men’ movies

    By ANI

WASHINGTON: British actor Daniel Radcliffe, who has previously had a taste of working in big Hollywood franchises, recently, denied rumours that claimed he will be succeeding Hugh Jackman as the next Wolverine.

According to Deadline, during an interview with GQ, the ‘Harry Potter’ actor stated, “It’s purely a press tour rumor; I say something, and then occasionally I get bored of answering that way so I say something different, and that sets it off again. I should just never open my mouth.”

Radcliffe understands that having a long-term association with an identifiable role can be difficult to shake off and that’s why he says he doesn’t “ever want to get locked into something that I am not sure I will be able to love the same amount the whole time,” reported Deadline.

Previously while appearing on ‘The View’, Radcliffe was questioned on the same subject by co-host Ana Navarro.

As per Deadline, he denied the rumours by saying, “This is something that comes up every so often, I think because in the comics Wolverine is short, so every so often they’re like, ‘Who’s a short actor?’ There’s never been any actual truth to it,”

Meanwhile, it is certain that Jackman will again be reprising his iconic role as the actor confirmed in September that he will play Wolverine in ‘Deadpool 3’ which is expected to be released on November 8, 2024.

  • Deadpool 3 to have an “angrier” version of Wolverine: Hugh Jackman confirms

    By Express News Service

We had previously reported that Hugh Jackman will once again be donning the role of Wolverine in the upcoming Ryan Reynolds-starrer Deadpool 3.

In a recent interaction, The Greatest Showman actor confirmed that Wolverine will be “angrier, grumpy” in the upcoming film.

Speaking to Associated Press about playing Wolverine once again after 2017’s Logan, Jackman said, “It’s a lot of fun. It’s been five years and I really never thought I’d come back. And I’m really, really excited to come back.

I can tell you I’m going to have the time of my life. I can tell you I’ve started back at the gym, and I’m eating a lot, and I feel bad for the cast of The Music Man with the amount of protein shakes I’m having. I do know a little bit about the script, but I’m not going to tell you.”

When asked about how different Wolverine would be in the new film, the actor said, “There’s no choice. He’s definitely angrier, grumpy, and he’s gonna take a lot of free shots at Ryan Reynolds, let me tell you. Physically, that is.”

Shawn Levy, who had previously worked with Reynolds on Free Guy and The Adam Project, is directing Deadpool 3 with Reese and Wernick returning to write the screenplay.

Deadpool would apparently be integrated with the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) under Disney and the upcoming film will most likely be MCU’s first R Rated film.

The film will release on November 8, 2024, making it the first film of the MCU’s Phase Six slate.

  • ‘Oh really? Wow’: Elizabeth Olsen on Hugh Jackman’s return, says she wants to team up with X-Men

    By ANI

WASHINGTON: Hollywood actor Elizabeth Olsen, who plays the role of Scarlet Witch in the MCU, has shared her thoughts on Hugh Jackman’s return as Wolverine.

Olsen got the news about Jackman’s return at Variety’s Power of Women, where she expressed shock over the revelation. “Oh really?” Olsen asked when she heard the news. “Wow!”

Olsen wants Scarlet Witch to team up with more X-Men characters on the big screen now that Jackman is returning as Wolverine. Olsen’s character is a mutant in the comic books and the daughter of Magneto, played by both Ian McKellen and Michael Fassbender on the big screen.

“I guess Wolverine is X-Men. It would be cool to work with a lot of those people from the X-Men franchise. I guess Fassbender is my dad in some world?” Olsen said when asked about which characters she hopes to team up with in the future of the MCU.

Scarlet Witch was last shown in ‘Doctor Stranger in the Multiverse of Madness’ where the character took a villainous turn and her fate was left ambiguous by the end after she sacrificed herself to destroy the Darkhold in a moment of redemption.

Marvel Studios’ Kevin Feige has confirmed to Variety that the character will be back in future. “There really is so much more to explore. We still haven’t touched on many of her core storylines from the comics,” Feige said.

Meanwhile, Ryan Reynolds, on Tuesday, took to social media and shared a video announcing Jackman’s return as Wolverine. “Hey, Hugh, you want to play Wolverine one more time?” Reynolds asked as Jackman walks by in the background.

The last time X-Men fans saw Jackman as Wolverine was in 2016’s R-rated ‘Logan’, directed by James Mangold. Wolverine famously died at the end of the film, and Jackman has stated repeatedly that the film was his swan song in the role. It is not yet known how he will appear in ‘Deadpool 3’, which will be in theatres on September 6, 2024.

“I’ve had to really search my soul on this one. His first appearance in the MCU obviously needs to feel special. We need to stay true to the character, find new depth, motivation, meaning. Every ‘Deadpool’ needs to stand out and stand apart,” he adds.

  • Taron Egerton says he is in talks with Marvel Studios for Wolverine role

    By PTI

LOS ANGELES: “Rocketman” star Taron Egerton has revealed that he has met Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige and other executives to discuss the possibility of starring in the role of Wolverine, a fan-favourite character previously essayed by Hugh Jackman.

In an interview with The New York Times, Egerton said if given an opportunity he would be more than happy to pick up the baton from Jackman and play the character central to the “X-Men” and “Avengers” franchises.

“I don’t think it would be wrong to say that. I’d be excited but I’d be apprehensive as well because Hugh is so associated with the role that I’d wonder if it’d be very difficult for someone else to do it. But hopefully, if it does come around, they’ll give me a shot,” the actor said.

Jackman played James “Logan” Howlett/ Wolverine in seven “X-Men” movies between 2000 and 2017.

Egerton will next be seen in the Apple TV+ drama “Black Bird”.
