The Chhattisgarh government is actively working to integrate every family in the remote, Naxal-affected forests into the mainstream of development. Under a special project, approximately three thousand houses are being constructed for Naxal-affected families and surrendered Naxals. The Chhattisgarh government secured approval from the central government for 15,000 houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, specifically for surrendered Naxals and families impacted by Naxal violence, who didn’t meet the standard eligibility criteria. Out of the five thousand families deemed eligible under the special project, construction has been approved for three thousand, with the first installment disbursed to 2111 families, and the second to 128 families. These houses are being built rapidly for families residing in remote forest areas. Despite challenging geographical conditions, the PM Awas approved for Sodi Hungi of Sukma and Dashri Bai of Kanker under the special project were completed in just three months after the approval was granted in March. Construction began in May of this year.
