  • PM to lay foundation stone for light house projects in six states on January 1

    Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay foundation stone of Light House Projects in Tripura, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Tamil Nadu on January 1, 2021, Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs (Independent Charge) Hardeep Singh Puri informed.

    “PM’s vision of #HousingForAll will get a new momentum when he lays the foundation stone of Light House Projects in Tripura, Jharkhand, UP, MP, Gujarat & Tamil Nadu on 1st Jan 2021. As part of GHTC-India initiative, LHPs will also usher in cutting edge construction technologies,” Puri tweeted on Tuesday.According to the minister, PMAY (U) and ASHA-India awards will also be announced on the occasion.

  • Trials Begin Of New Antibody Treatment To Prevent Infection Soon After Exposure

    Amid surging coronavirus cases across the world, a new antibody treatment is being trialled in hopes that it could prevent people from developing the deadly virus after being exposed to the disease. According to SkyNews, the antibody, known as AZD7442, has been developed by UK-based pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca and is now being looked by the University College London Hospitals NHS Trust as part of a new trial called Storm Chaser. So far, ten people have been injected with the new antibody as part of the trial and UCLH aims to recruit 1,125 people worldwide. 

    Dr. Catherine Houlihan, who is the UCLH virologist and who is also leading the campaign, said that the officials, for now, know that the antibody combination can neutralise the virus. She added that authorities hope to find that giving this treatment via injection can lead to immediate protection against the development of coronavirus in people who have been exposed. Further, she informed that UCLH aims to inject people from key groups, including healthcare workers, students in shared accommodation, the military and those who recently have been exposed to the deadly virus. 

  • PM Modi lauds work on animal conservation

    Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday lauded the efforts undertaken by the government towards animal conservation, following the release of the “Status of Leopard in India” report which recorded a surge in the population of leopards in the country.

    “Great news! After lions and tigers, the leopard population increases. Congratulations to all those who are working towards animal conservation. We have to keep up these efforts and ensure our animals live in safe habitats,” Prime Minister Modi tweeted.

    This comes after the Union Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change released the status of Leopard on Monday. India’s population of leopards has gone up 60 per cent and the country now has 12,852 leopards, the ministry has said.

    Releasing the “Status of Leopard in India 2018” report, Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Prakash Javadekar said that increase in numbers of Tigers, Lions and Leopards over the last few years is a testimony to the conservation efforts and of the fledgeling wildlife and biodiversity of the country.

    PanIIT USA is an organization that is more than 20 years old. Since 2003 PanIIT USA has organised this conference and invited speakers from different sectors including industry, academia, and government. PanIIT USA is run by an all-volunteer team of IIT alumni.

  • Applications will be called again from the underprivileged beneficiaries of PMY scheme in Chhattisgarh

    Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, 250 disadvantaged beneficiaries of Raipur district will have to apply for the house again.     Poonam Jeevani, in-charge of PMAY-G scheme, District Panchayat Raipur, said that again applications are being invited from the deprived families. With this verification, the scheme will be carried forward by adding the names of new beneficiaries. As soon as the new list is uploaded, all the beneficiaries will be added to the scheme.
