The terror of bomb threats continues unabated in Mumbai, with iconic St. Xavier’s College in Mahim becoming the latest victim. A menacing message found in a bathroom on Monday claimed a device was planted, forcing a complete shutdown of the premises.

Principal’s quick call to authorities triggered a rapid response. Police, along with anti-bomb units, cleared the area and scoured every corner—no dangerous materials detected. The college was emptied as a precaution, sending hundreds home.

This follows a spate of warnings last week. On March 12, emails threatened blasts at the state legislature, stock exchange, high court, and metro system. Each prompted massive security drills, evacuations, and fruitless hunts for bombs.

Officials believe these are pranks designed to sow panic, especially during the ongoing legislative session. Council Chairman Ram Shinde noted the precise timing of one email at dawn, targeting sensitive sites.

Mumbai’s law enforcement is ramping up efforts to identify patterns and culprits. While no real bombs have materialized, the psychological toll on the public is mounting. Enhanced protocols are now standard for such alerts.
