Bhubaneswar witnessed history on April 19 as Odisha CM Mohan Charan Majhi and Central Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw inaugurated the groundwork for a game-changing semiconductor facility. 3D Glass Solutions’ Rs 2,000 crore venture at Infovalley will pioneer advanced 3D glass substrate packaging in India, producing cutting-edge components for AI, HPC, and defense applications.

CM Majhi, addressing a packed gathering, painted a vivid picture of Odisha’s ascent. ‘Our resources, talent pool, infrastructure, and determination make us the ideal hub for global semiconductor giants,’ he said. Annual output includes 70,000 glass panels, 50 million assembled units, and 13,200 3DHI modules, creating 2,500 jobs and boosting the local economy.

Majhi described this as a milestone in India’s tech leadership journey. He outlined why Odisha attracts investments: plentiful natural assets, top-tier infrastructure, dynamic youth, seamless connectivity, and proactive administration. Calling it a golden era for students and engineers, he encouraged skill-building in semiconductors.

The state has already secured over Rs 10,000 crore in investments, with established players like RIR Power Electronics and Sixsem. Majhi positioned Odisha as Eastern India’s semiconductor gateway, aligning with Atmanirbhar Bharat. Minister Vaishnaw reinforced this, noting the arrival of the globe’s most sophisticated tech. ‘This foundation will spur widespread growth and shape semiconductor futures,’ he added, committing to Odisha’s evolution into an IT hub.
