Copyright on GuaranteesWith AAP pitting ‘Kejriwal ki guarantee’ against ‘Modi ki guarantee’, ‘Congress ki guarantee’ is caught between the two. Congress believes that the patent for coining pre-poll ‘guarantees’ rests with it as it first chanted the mantra during Karnataka elections and then in Telangana polls. Congress spokespersons maintain that BJP and PM aped the party’s word play by coining ‘Modi ki guarantee’, but it finds itself in a piquant situation with ‘Kejriwal ki guarantee’ as AAP is a sensitive ally. It can’t endorse it either as it risks eclipsing Congress’ own ‘guarantees’. While some Delhi Congress leaders are wondering how to streamline the alliance with AAP and the two, yet competing, guarantees, a little bird says at least two Congress LS candidates in Delhi are raring to chant ‘Kejriwal ki guarantee’.Experiencing Choppy RideFund-strapped Opposition parties are facing a major crisis during campaigning — lack of helicopters. Apparently, helicopter companies have demanded that all political parties pay upfront 70% of hiring fee and that too in cheque. This has limited the use of choppers, making it difficult for leaders to cover more constituencies and campaign in remote areas. Last heard, Congress leaders were pushing for a chopper to campaign in the last phases. Specific to RegionEven as India has expanded its regional dialogue partners, Russia remains a close ally for discussing key developments in the region. Senior Russian diplomat and presidential envoy on Afghanistan, Zamir Kabulov, will be in New Delhi this week to engage with his counterparts on the AfPak region and the necessity for an inclusive government in Kabul. Bihar’s newlyweds take off in copter cars
Express News Service
PATNA: The helicopter-shaped car has become the latest craze among bridegrooms and brides who want to add some uniqueness to their marriage ceremonies so that these events do not fade away from people’s memory so easily.
In Bihar’s Kaimur district, local residents of Mohania town spent more than eight months making the chopper-shaped car. The car is fitted with overtop blades as these blades are smaller in comparison to the ones atop a helicopter. It has been aptly named, “Dulhan Chali Sasural” (bride leaves for her in-laws’ house).
The vehicle has been in high demand not only in Kaimur district, which is close to Uttar Pradesh border, but also in adjoining districts like Rohtas, Aurangabad, Bhojpur and Buxar districts. In neighbouring Rohtas district, two youngsters, Bittu Kushwaha and Dilip Kumar Singh purchased an old car and later modified it in such a way that the car looked like a helicopter.
When the car’s blades start revolving, people start taking selfies with it, the residents of Kochas said on Monday. When this ‘helicopter-car’ first ran on the streets of Sasaram, district headquarter town of Rohtas, with sparkling lights, people captured its pictures in their mobile cameras.
The duo spent nearly Rs 4.5 lakh for remodelling the car for ferrying brides and bridegrooms. Dilip Kumar Singh, a resident of Khaira in Rohtas district, said, “I charge Rs 15,000 if the car is used in a radius of 40 km. The car is in huge demand. We are getting bookings every day during the marriage season.” This trend is catching up in other districts too as in Bhagalpur district. A tent businessman Diwakar Kumar, a resident of Maheshkhunt in Khagaria, has also got a car re-modelled as a helicopter. Now a groom can look forward to boarding this helicopter-like car in the marriage procession. He said people could hire the car by paying an amount of Rs 11,000 for it.
Diwakar said that he got the car modelled as a helicopter after watching it on YouTube. “Har koi shadi mein kuchh naya chahta hai (everybody wants something new in a wedding),” he said. The business is thriving in Bihar these days as the marriage season has started. “The chariot carrying grooms has now become a passe. Helicopter-shaped cars have become the latest choice of bridegrooms for their weddings,” said Manoj Kumar Singh, owner of a marriage hall in Patna.

Ankur Shukla, a priest who happened to be at a distance from the crash site at the time of the accident, said when he saw the flames emanating from a big portion of the helicopter, he realised that a serious mishap had taken place.
Shukla got to know the details of the crash when he returned to Kedarpuri.
Head of Six Sigma Healthcare firm Dr Pradeep Bhardwaj said low visibility caused by thick fog appears to have been the main cause of the accident.

Helicopter bounces and turns by 270 degrees while landing at Kedarnath; DGCA begins probe
By PTI
NEW DELHI: A helicopter of Thumby Aviation on May 31 bounced and turned by 270 degrees while landing at Kedarnath helipad, following which aviation regulator DGCA asked the chopper pilots to exercise caution whenever there are tailwinds when they are heading for landing, officials said on Monday.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has started an investigation into this incident, its officials said.
On May 31, at approximately 1.30 PM, a Bell 407 helicopter belonging to Thumby Aviation Pvt Ltd, while landing at Kedarnath helipad had an uncontrolled, very hard landing, they noted.
The helicopter had made an unstabilized approach to the helipad, and during the touchdown, the helicopter struck the helipad surface hard, bounced and after having lost direction by about 270 degrees, again settled down hard on the ground, they said.
The regulator issued an advisory after the incident in which it said “pilots are to exercise caution for the presence of any tailwinds during approaches, especially at Shri Kedarnath helipad”.
Pilots must take adequate precautions and if the tailwinds or crosswinds are beyond the permissible limits, the approach must be abandoned and the chopper must return to the base, the advisory mentioned.
The DGCA is investigating the incident and it is planning to conduct a spot check for ensuring safety oversight of these helicopter operations, the officials noted.

Indian Air Force sets record with 1910 km helicopter sortie from Chandigarh to Jorhat
Express News Service
NEW DELHI: The Indian Air Force has set a record by executing the longest sortie by helicopter in the country on Monday.
The Indian Air Force in a tweet said, “An IAF Chinook undertook the longest non-stop helicopter sortie in India, flying from Chandigarh to Jorhat (Assam). The 1910 km route was completed in 7 hrs 30 min and made possible by the capabilities of Chinook along with operational planning and execution by the IAF.”
This capability demonstration presents operational planners with multiple options available at their disposal for combat and Humanitarian Air and Disaster Relief (HADR) operations, said an Air Force officer on condition of anonymity.
Keeping the long haul in mind, extra crew was on board the helicopter, added the officer.
The Chinook is a multi-role, vertical lift platform, used for transporting men and material. It also plays an important role in HADR operations. Rapid mobility will allow the IAF to employ this asset optimally as required.
The IAF has two squadrons of Chinook helicopters, one each in the Western and Eastern sectors.
Group Captain Sandeep Mehta (Retd) called this successful sortie a feather in the cap. This demonstration of long reach of heavy lift helicopters is a critical strategic capability, both in peacetime and during war, he said.
“In the subcontinent where earthquakes, floods, cyclones, heavy snowfall, landslides and even tsunami have wreaked havoc in the past, it can bring relief at such a pace that impact of disasters is minimised and rehabilitation is immediate,” said Group Captain Mehta, a former helicopter pilot.
The helicopters have some peculiar intrinsic strengths which are vital for certain kinds of operations in mountains, valleys and restricted areas. It can quickly move a larger number/volume of men and material, far from rail and road heads.
As reported earlier by TNIE, India had finalised a contract in September 2015 to procure 22 Apache helicopters and 15 Chinook choppers from the US at a cost of around Rs 8,000 crore ($3 billion).
The helicopter can lift about 10 tons of load which include troops, artillery guns, light armoured vehicles, ammunition, supplies and battlefield equipment.
