  • Helena Bonham Carter reunites with Jessica Hobbs for ‘The Offing’

    Helena Bonham Carter and Emmy Award-winning director Jessica Hobbs will be reunited for The Offing. The two have previously worked together in Netflix’s The Crown. Directed by the latter, The Offing is based on a novel of the same name.

    Written by Benjamin Myers, The Offing (2019 novel) revolves around the unlikely friendship that strikes up between Robert, a teenage boy, and Dulcie, a Bohemian loner, in a post-World War II northern England.

    Together, Dulcie teaches Robert to open up his life to new experiences and Robert helps her to re-enter the world she shut herself off from. While Helena will be playing Dulcie, the casting for Robert has yet to be announced.

    Best known for films like Fight Club, The King’s Speech, and the Harry Porter franchise, Helena is a two-time Academy Award-nominated actor. She also received two Emmy nominations for her role as Princess Margaret in The Crown.

    Jessica is currently directing The Palace with Kate Winslet and Hugh Grant, an upcoming HBO drama. She has directed episodes of other acclaimed series like Broadchurch and The Slap and won an Emmy for her directing work on The Crown.

    Amy Roberts will be adapting the screenplay for The Offing. Charlotte Walls and Emily Barttelot have signed on to produce the adaptation for Catalyst Global Media with Bonham Carter serving as an executive producer.

  • ‘I hate to cancel culture’, says Helena B Carter defending Johnny Depp, JK Rowling

    Actor Helena Bonham Carter, who played the role of Bellatrix Lestrange, in the Harry Potter series, came in support of her famous collaborators like actors JK Rowling and Johnny Depp while rallying against the cancel culture.

    Speaking with The Times UK, Helena shared her opinion on cancel culture and was quoted as saying by Variety, “Do you ban a genius for their sexual practices? There would be millions of people who, if you looked closely enough at their personal life, would disqualify them. You can’t ban people. I hate to cancel culture. It has become quite hysterical and there’s a kind of witch hunt and a lack of understanding.”

    While making that there is no going back for redemption in a case like Kevin Spacey, Helena also lent her support to Depp, who recently won the libel case against his former wife Amber Heard. 

    It is to be noted that Helena and Johnny have collaborated in films like Corpse Bride, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Dark Shadows and Alice in Wonderland and the actors share a good rapport.

    She also specified that Johnny has been “completely vindicated.”

  • Actor Henry Cavill wraps filming on ‘Enola Holmes 2’

    The sequel of Netflix’s hit film Enola Holmes has been in the making since May, with Millie Bobby Brown, Henry Cavill, and Helena Bonham Carter reprising their roles as Enola Holmes, Sherlock Holmes, and Eudoria Holmes, respectively. Now, Cavill took to Instagram to announce that he has finished filming for the film.

    The actor posted a video in which he says, “Today was my last day on Enola Holmes, and the entire day I was thinking about not coming out and doing this run. It was a little dark and a little chilly, and I was convincing myself all day long that those are all good reasons not to run. However, I came out here, I did it, I have loved it, and it feels really, really good. So if you’re sitting at home thinking about not training today, throw those trainers on, get out there, and do it. You won’t regret it.”

    Enola Holmes, based on The Enola Holmes Mysteries by Nancy Springer, tells the story of Enola Holmes (Brown) the sister of Sherlock Holmes (Cavill), who follows in her detective brother’s footsteps. The first film followed the plot of the first novel in the series, The Case Of The Missing Marquess, and had Enola searching for her missing mother (played by Helena Bonham Carter).

    The plot of the sequel remains unknown. The sequel film will also bring back Adeel Akhtar as Lestrade, Susan Wokoma as Edith, and Louis Partridge as Tewkesbury. David Thewlis, Sharon Duncan-Brewster, Hannah Dodd, Abbie Hern, Gabriel Tierney, and Serrana Su-Ling Bliss are the latest additions to the cast of the film.

    Writer Jack Thorne and director Harry Bradbeer are also returning for the sequel. Enola Holmes 2 is produced by Legendary in partnership with Netflix. Paige Brown and Brown will produce through their PCMA Productions.

  • Helena Bonham Carter to star in ITV drama ‘Nolly’

    LOS ANGELES: Helena Bonham Carter, star of “The Crown” and “Harry Potter” films, will play the lead in “Nolly”, an ITV biopic from “It’s A Sin” creator Russell T Davies.

    It marks the debut project for Nicola Shindler’s Quay Street Productions, backed by ITV Studios, and Davies’ return to the network for a show since 2004.

    Bonham Carter will essay the role of Noele Gordon, who played Meg Richardson in the hit ITV soap “Crossroads” before being abruptly fired at the height of the show’s success.

    The three-part drama reunites Davies with long-time collaborator Shindler, who he has worked with on several projects including “It’s A Sin” for her previous outfit Red Production Company, reported Deadline.

    Peter Hoar, who helmed “It’s A Sin”, will direct “Nolly”.

    Shindler, who is attached as executive producer on the series along with Davies, said she is looking forward to the drama which is their first for her newly-minted banner.

    “I couldn’t be prouder or more excited that the first drama we will be filming for Quay Street Productions is this beautiful script by Russell T Davies. And that Helena Bonham Carter will star as such an iconic British woman is dream casting,” the producer said.

    ITV Head of Drama Polly Hill described “Nolly” as a “bold exploration of how the establishment turns on women who refuse to play by the rules, the women it cannot understand and the women it fears”.

    “Russell’s scripts are magnificent and a great tribute to Noele Gordon, but also to our national love of soaps and a celebration of the incredible women they create,” she added.

    Helena Bonham Carter will be joining Millie Bobby Brown and Henry Cavill in the new sequel to Netflix’s popular investigative drama, Enola Holmes, which was announced in May. Bonham Carter will reprise her original role, where she portrayed Eudoria Holmes, the mother of Enola, played by Brown.Enola Holmes revolves around the story of young Enola, the stubborn and witty sibling of the famous detective Sherlock Holmes, played by Cavill.

    Also joining the cast for the sequel will be Susan Wokoma, David Thewlis, Adeel Akhtar, Sharon Duncan-Brewster, Abbie Hern, Hannah Dodd, Gabriel Tierney, Serrana Su-Ling Bliss, and Louis Partridge. Aside from her role in Enola Holmes, Bonham Carter is famous for her role as Bellatrix Lestrange in the Harry Potter series, Season 3 of The Crown and Fight Club.

    Principal photography for Enola Holmes 2 is expected to begin in London and is produced by Legendary in partnership with Netflix. Paige Brown and Brown will produce through their PCMA Productions.

    LOS ANGELES: British star Helena Bonham Carter is officially returning for the sequel to the 2020 hit “Enola Holmes”.

    Directed by Harry Bradbeer of “Fleabag” fame, “Enola Holmes” was based on author Nancy Springer’s six-part book series “The Enola Holmes Mysteries”.

    The movie featured “Stranger Things” star Millie Bobby Brown as the titular protagonist, who is the younger sister of renowned detective Sherlock Holmes, which was played by Hollywood star Henry Cavill.

    Carter will once again feature as Eudoria Holmes, the matriarch of the famous sleuthing family, alongside Brown and Cavill, reported Variety.

    They are joined by newcomers David Thewlis, Susan Wokoma, Adeel Akhtar, Sharon Duncan-Brewster, Hannah Dodd, Abbie Hern, Gabriel Tierney and Serrana Su-Ling Bliss.

    Actor Louis Partridge, who played Tewksbury in the movie, is also returning for the sequel.

    “Enola Holmes 2” will be produced by Legendary in partnership with Netflix.

    The movie is expected to start filming in London soon.

    Brown and her sister Paige Brown will produce through their PCMA Productions banner.
