Gujarat’s law enforcement has notched up an extraordinary feat in Anand district, clinching 100% convictions in seven POCSO cases between March and December 2024. Six offenders now face life behind bars, marking a decisive blow against child exploitation.

Friday’s court rulings added two more life sentences to the tally, completing the sweep. One accused received 20 years, but all cases centered on sexual offenses against children, demanding unwavering pursuit of justice.

Efficiency defined the process: FIRs translated to charge sheets in under 45 days across the board. Judges delivered verdicts swiftly, often in eight to nine months, minimizing delays that plague many trials.

SP GG Jasani oversaw the investigations, with former Petlad Division Circle Inspector DR Chaudhary at the helm—currently serving at Borsad station. Their strategy? A holistic probe from inception to conclusion, merging age-old tactics with modern tools.

The e-Sakshya application captured video evidence of statements and inspections, safeguarding against tampering. Forensic experts and crime scene specialists supplied irrefutable scientific data, bolstering prosecution arguments.

Deputy CM Harsh Sanghvi lauded the team’s diligence, emphasizing how it bolsters faith in police protection for girls. He reiterated Gujarat’s ironclad stance: zero tolerance for atrocities on women and children, with relentless action promised.

This milestone not only delivers closure to victims but also signals to predators that justice in Anand is swift and certain, potentially inspiring reforms across India’s justice system.

Gujarat’s cyber warriors strike again. The state’s Cyber Centre of Excellence apprehended Amreli resident Kaushik Pethani and Surat’s Dhruv Dobariya for orchestrating a human trafficking racket that funneled desperate job seekers into foreign cybercrime operations. The arrests, based on solid intel, expose a chilling web of deception targeting India’s unemployed youth.

Posing as legitimate recruiters on platforms like WhatsApp and Telegram, the pair advertised high-paying jobs abroad. Selected candidates faced mock interviews, soft skills workshops, and promises of bright futures. In reality, they were dispatched to scam dens in Southeast Asia—Cambodia, Myanmar, Laos—where forced labor in crypto frauds and investment swindles awaited.

Pethani, alias ‘Ali Baba,’ ran the show, collecting fees up to 1.5 lakhs per head and managing travel logistics. Dobariya supported by sending at least five victims abroad. The network’s brutality knew no bounds: seized documents, locked compounds, and savage beatings for resisters, trapping victims far from home.

This operation wasn’t limited to India; it ensnared people from Bangladesh and Pakistan too. Probes uncovered links to new fraud setups in UAE, Thailand, Sri Lanka, South Africa, and Georgia. Superintendent Vivek Bheda reaffirmed the centre’s resolve: ‘We’re dismantling these cyber slavery chains one link at a time.’

As the probe deepens, police are tracing additional accomplices and victim numbers. This case underscores the perils of social media job lures— a wake-up call for job hunters to verify sources amid rising global cyber threats.

Ahmedabad’s law enforcement struck gold—or rather, liquid gold—when they intercepted a truck packed with foreign liquor stashed under a mountain of helmets. The clever concealment in Narol’s SP Ring Road unraveled a sophisticated racket aimed at breaching Gujarat’s alcohol ban, leading to the arrest of the driver and a massive confiscation.

PCB officials, tipped off about suspicious activity, monitored the area near Aslali Circle and Sainath Parking. Stopping the vehicle around midnight, they discovered 1,053 helmets artfully arranged to mask 10,749 bottles of imported liquor, clocking in at ₹63.86 lakh. Add the helmets at ₹5.25 lakh, the truck, phone, and cash, and the total bounty exceeds ₹84 lakh.

Identified as Johnny Baldevsingh Chandel, 38, from Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, the accused was hauling the load from Chandigarh to Junagadh. Police suspect a larger syndicate, with questioning focused on suppliers and buyers. “Traffickers exploit everyday items to dodge detection,” noted an investigator, emphasizing timely intel’s importance.

Narol station is probing deeper, linking up with counterparts to expose the full operation. Recent busts paint a pattern: October 2025 saw 5,520 IMFL bottles in fake medicine crates at Gota Bridge, while Vadodara yielded 8,231 bottles in September. These victories reflect Gujarat’s relentless campaign against prohibition violators, disrupting illegal flows and protecting public health.

Gujarat’s law enforcement heroes are set to shine on Republic Day as 16 police personnel earn coveted President’s Medals for their remarkable service. The Union Home Ministry revealed the list on Sunday, ahead of the January 26 celebrations, spotlighting the grit and valor that define the state’s police force.

At the centerpiece of the honors are two IPS stalwarts from Gujarat: Nipun Thorawne, ADGP and Additional Chief Secretary in the Home Department, and SS Raghuvanshi, both awarded the elite President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service. Their leadership in transformative policing initiatives and administrative excellence has been pivotal.

Joining them are 14 others receiving the Meritorious Service Medal, hailing from varied units including intelligence, surveillance, prisons, transport, coastal security, and urban police in key cities like Ahmedabad, Surat, and Rajkot, plus the reserve force. From top brass to frontline constables, their stories embody tireless duty.

Key achievements include thwarting terror threats, masterful intelligence ops, curbing crime waves, handling disasters adeptly, reforming correctional systems, and ensuring societal stability. DGP Dr. KLN Rao hailed the feat as a testament to Gujarat Police’s unwavering professionalism.

This recognition, he added, will fuel further dedication among ranks statewide. The Home Department joined in the applause, affirming these officers as pillars of Gujarat’s security framework. As Republic Day approaches, these medals symbolize not just individual glory but collective resolve for a safer tomorrow.

Police have successfully unraveled a tragic honour killing case involving a young couple from Bihar, whose bodies were discovered in Uttar Pradesh’s Sonbhadra district. The investigation, spanning three states including Gujarat and Bihar, culminated in the arrest of two of the woman’s brothers. A manhunt is underway for two other absconding siblings implicated in the crime.

The arrested individuals, identified as Munna Kumar (22) and Rahul alias Siddharth (28), are accused of murdering the 19-year-old woman and her husband, Dukhan Shaw (22). The couple, belonging to a backward class, had eloped in June and married against the woman’s family’s wishes, subsequently settling in Gujarat’s Valsad district.

Their disappearance in September prompted Shaw’s brother to file a kidnapping complaint in Gujarat, accusing the woman’s brothers. The case took a complex turn when a body, suspected to be of the woman and showing signs of a bullet wound, was found in Sonbhadra on September 24. Initial identification efforts in surrounding districts and states proved fruitless due to Sonbhadra’s border proximity to four states.

The breakthrough occurred when Gujarat Police contacted Sonbhadra authorities regarding the missing couple. Following leads provided by Gujarat, Sonbhadra police traced the couple’s journey from Gujarat to Mirzapur, Uttar Pradesh, with plans to travel to Bihar. The identification of the deceased woman’s photograph by Shaw’s family, confirmed by Bihar police who verified the family’s opposition to the marriage, was pivotal. Authorities then arrested the two brothers, with efforts ongoing to apprehend Mukesh and Rakesh.
