Over 1.31 lakh artisans have received free skill enhancement and toolkits, plus accident insurance up to Rs 5 lakh. In the budget session, Minister Rakesh Sachan detailed impacts: Saharanpur’s 2,275 craftsmen got modern tools, while 454 artisans accessed Rs 16.26 crore margin money.

The scheme’s economic ripple is evident—ODOP and handicrafts contribute 50% to export growth. Government backing includes Rs 200 crore this fiscal year, up from last year’s Rs 145 crore where Rs 135 crore was utilized. GI tags on 79 products have opened international doors.

ODOP transcends commerce, integrating health via Ayushman Bharat and spurring initiatives like One District One Dish. It’s a blueprint for sustainable rural development, preserving heritage while fueling prosperity.
