Ghaziabad’s CBI Academy made history on Thursday with the passing out parade of its largest-ever batch of 134 Sub-Inspectors. Chief Guest CBI Director Praveen Sood led the grandeur, commending the trainees’ dedication since their induction on May 15 for basic training.

The comprehensive curriculum equipped these officers with expertise in law, probe methodologies, corruption cases, conventional crimes, intel collection, financial crimes, cyber threats, banking scams, mobile forensics, and advanced forensic disciplines. Practical exposure came via visits and attachments to CBI units, judicial courts, police outposts, NFSU, AIIMS, SEBI, and more, bridging theory and practice seamlessly.

Beyond skills, the course nurtured top-tier honesty, integrity, human rights adherence, and discipline. Sood hailed the batch’s scale and the 18 women participants as emblematic of evolving inclusivity. He lauded the academy’s 5-star Capacity Building Commission rating and reminded graduates: field work is where real education ignites.

‘Adopt a lifelong learning mindset; policing’s challenges shift constantly,’ Sood advised, spotlighting AI and tech’s role in sifting massive data for faster investigations—yet always augmented by human insight. Top achievers grabbed accolades: Satyavrat Singh’s dual honors in all-round and indoor excellence; Saimitya’s cyber prowess; Shekhar Baliyan’s outdoor supremacy; Rakshit Kumar’s unwavering commitment.

Sood unveiled the innovative TRACE lab, a digital response hub simulating cybercrimes for immersive training in evidence management and forensics. Senior leaders like Special Directors Manoj Shashidhar and Sampat Meena, plus Additional Directors N. Venu Gopal and A.Y.V. Krishna, joined dignitaries in witnessing this pivotal moment for India’s premier probe agency.

An all-women police team in Ghaziabad achieved a historic first by engaging in an encounter and subsequently arresting a 22-year-old wanted criminal. The arrest followed a gunfight on Sunday night. The individual, identified as Jitendra, son of Nandkishore and a resident of Vijay Nagar, was apprehended after resisting a routine police check. When officers attempted to stop him, he attempted to evade capture, leading to the encounter. After being ordered to surrender, Jitendra allegedly fired upon the officers. The police retaliated, injuring him and taking him into custody. Senior Police Officer Upasana Pandey confirmed Jitendra’s involvement in multiple incidents of snatching, robbery, and vehicle theft. During interrogation, he admitted to stealing motorcycles and scooters throughout the Delhi-NCR region, as well as snatching mobile phones and other valuables. The police recovered a country-made pistol, ammunition, a stolen scooter, a mobile phone, and a tablet. Further investigation revealed the scooter was reported stolen from Delhi the previous year, and the mobile phone and tablet were reported stolen on Sunday.

Following the deaths of two individuals in a police encounter related to the shooting outside actress Disha Patani’s residence, gangster Rohit Godara has issued a Facebook post filled with threats. Godara declared that the deceased individuals, identified as the shooters, were “martyrs” and vowed to avenge their deaths. He explicitly stated that those responsible, irrespective of their status or influence, would not be spared. Godara also expressed his view that the encounter represented a loss for “Sanatan Dharma,” accusing the authorities of targeting individuals who had sacrificed their lives for their religious beliefs. The post included a lengthy message where Godara mourned the loss of life and condemned what he perceived as injustice against those fighting for “Dharma.” He warned against those he claimed were exploiting “Sanatan Dharma” for their own gain and pledged retaliation against anyone involved in the events. The incident occurred on September 17 in Ghaziabad, where the UP STF and Delhi Police Special Cell conducted an encounter, resulting in the death of the shooters involved in the firing at Disha Patani’s house. Two other suspects remain at large, and the motive behind the crime is still under investigation, though a social media dispute involving Disha Patani’s sister, Khushboo, and a religious figure is believed to be connected.

The Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) has given the green light to the Shahberi Flyover project, aiming to alleviate traffic congestion for commuters traveling between Ghaziabad and Greater Noida. The GDA has authorized the construction of a 200-meter-long ramp as part of the flyover, located on Ghaziabad land. This project is expected to significantly reduce traffic problems in Greater Noida West. The project’s progress had been stalled for several months due to delays in obtaining necessary clearances. With the recent approval, the Greater Noida administration has initiated construction, following clearance from the Ghaziabad administration. A Detailed Project Report (DPR) and an Expression of Interest (EOI) are anticipated to be circulated soon. Before construction begins, the authorities will submit a proposal to the government to secure budget approval, allocate funding, and select a construction agency. A feasibility study, conducted by IIT Roorkee, assessed the project’s feasibility, including traffic analysis, length, soil testing, and potential construction obstacles. The flyover is planned to be wider than 7.5 meters. The flyover will be constructed at the junction of Greater Noida, Noida, and Ghaziabad, and is designed to address the growing traffic issues in Greater Noida West. The project’s approval includes covering a drainage channel in Crossing Republic, Ghaziabad, allowing for smoother vehicle flow after exiting the flyover.

A Ghaziabad resident, Harsh Vardhan Jain, has been apprehended by the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (UP STF) for orchestrating a sophisticated job scam. Jain, posing as a diplomat from unrecognized micronations like West Arctica and Lodonia, lured individuals with promises of overseas employment. His fraudulent activities included the use of fake embassy vehicle number plates, counterfeit currency, doctored photographs with political figures, and forged documents to run a hawala operation under the guise of diplomatic immunity. The UP STF arrested Jain on Tuesday morning, seizing fake seals of the Ministry of External Affairs, forged PAN cards, counterfeit seals, and fake diplomatic number plates, along with a significant amount of cash.
