A significant global survey by Robert Walters indicates a major shift in career aspirations for Generation Z. The study reveals that 52% of Gen Z employees are not interested in management positions, a phenomenon termed “conscious unbossing.” This signifies a conscious decision by young professionals to redefine career success away from traditional leadership roles. The research highlights that a substantial 69% of Gen Z professionals view middle management as overly stressful with minimal benefits. In contrast, 72% prioritize developing their skills as individual contributors over taking on supervisory responsibilities. This presents a clear challenge for businesses, as 89% of companies still consider middle managers vital for operational structure and performance. Approximately 63% of younger workers feel their employers place too much emphasis on managerial positions, preferring autonomy and flexibility instead of team leadership. This growing disparity is prompting organizations to consider “dual career tracks,” enabling employees to advance either through management or as technical experts without managerial duties. Experts believe this trend is not about avoiding leadership but about seeking leadership roles that champion innovation, creativity, and project ownership rather than direct people management. This evolving work mindset among Gen Z mirrors global discussions about their lifestyle choices, such as the Maldives’ new ban on tobacco sales for those born after January 1, 2007, aiming for a healthier, tobacco-free future.

Nepal is facing a severe crisis due to heavy rainfall, resulting in floods and landslides that have devastated the country. The adverse weather conditions have caused significant damage, with nearly…

Nepal is facing a severe crisis due to heavy rainfall, resulting in floods and landslides that have devastated the country. The adverse weather conditions have caused significant damage, with nearly 47 fatalities reported so far. More than 5,000 families have been displaced due to the floods and landslides. In response to this natural disaster, the government is enlisting the help of the Gen-Z generation to assist in relief efforts.

Gen-Z is actively involved in aiding Nepal during the floods and heavy rainfall. The Ministry of Home Affairs has deployed Gen-Z volunteers to coordinate the response to the ongoing floods and landslides across the country. These Gen-Z leaders have been working to coordinate with various districts since Friday evening.

When the weather department issued a warning about heavy rainfall, floods, and landslides for three days, officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs summoned Gen-Z leaders, including Sudan Gurung, Yugen Rajbhandari, and Bhavana Raut, to the Singhadurbar. Home Minister, Om Prakash Aryal, personally engaged in discussions with them. An official from the Ministry of Home Affairs stated that the government sought assistance from all available resources to leave no stone unturned in addressing the situation.

The participation of Gen-Z, combined with information shared through social media, has facilitated swift action. A post by young Sagar Dhakal on social media regarding the incident in Panchthar proved crucial. According to the Home Department, had this information not been shared, the authorities would have received the news of the incident at an unknown location much later.

Following Dhakal’s post, officials from the Panchthar District Administration Office took immediate action. Arun Pokharel, the Chief District Officer of Panchthar, mentioned that they were coordinating with the Ministry of Home Affairs, and the timely information aided in rescuing people. Two individuals were rescued with the assistance of a military helicopter. The ministry has been leveraging the help of Gen-Z leaders to gather and disseminate information, and they have been deployed to assist.

A Ministry of Home Affairs official stated that the ministry was receiving numerous calls from various districts, and there was a great deal of coordination required. Therefore, they worked to deploy personnel to the most vulnerable areas on Saturday night. Gen-Z leader Sudan Gurung also participated in a meeting of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority on Saturday afternoon.

He also uploaded a video on the social media platform Facebook, providing directives to NEA CEO Dinesh Bhatta. He emphasized the prioritization of ambulances, stating that it should be confirmed whether ambulances are available in the affected areas, and if so, they should be deployed to rescue people.

According to Nepali media reports, the majority of the casualties due to landslides have occurred in Ilam. According to Central Police Spokesperson Binod Ghimire, 37 people died in Ilam over two days, and five were injured. Rainfall data from Sunday (in 24 hours): Mai Pokhari Station, Ilam: 269.4 mm, Ilam Tea Garden Station: 272.6 mm, Kaniyam: 275 mm. The weather department anticipates a reduction in rainfall across the country from Monday.

Snapchat is implementing a new policy that will require users to pay for storing more than 5GB of content within its Memories feature. This change marks a shift from the platform’s original offering, which provided free storage for photos and videos shared for 24 hours. Users will now need to subscribe to continue accessing their saved content once they exceed the 5GB limit. Snapchat has introduced new “Memories Storage Plans,” offering 100GB or 250GB of storage. To access this, users need to subscribe through the Snapchat+ monthly plan. Meanwhile, there is also a Platinum plan, offering a massive 5TB of storage. Snapchat has stated the need to ensure the community can continue storing Memories over the long term prompted the introduction of the new plans. However, Snapchat provides 12 months of temporary storage to users who exceed the free storage limit allowing them to either download content or opt for a paid subscription.

Here are the steps to save Memories content directly to a device:

Step 1: Open the Snapchat app.
Step 2: Go to ‘Memories’.
Step 3: Press and hold the Snap or Snaps to download.
Step 4: Tap ‘Export’.
Step 5: Choose a save location.

Snapchat is implementing a new policy that will require users to pay for storing more than 5GB of content within its Memories feature. This change impacts users who have accumulated photos and videos beyond the free storage limit. Originally launched in 2016, Snapchat’s Memories feature provided free storage for user-generated content, which is typically designed to disappear after 24 hours. Now, users will need to subscribe to a paid plan once their 5GB limit is reached to maintain access to their saved Memories.

Snapchat stated that the platform did not anticipate the significant growth of the Memories feature when it was first launched. To accommodate the needs of its community and ensure users can continue storing their content, Snapchat is introducing new Memories Storage Plans. These plans offer storage options of 100GB or 250GB, accessible through the Snapchat+ monthly plan. A Platinum plan is also available, providing a substantial 5TB of storage.

The available storage plans and their pricing are as follows:

* 100GB storage plan: $1.99 per month (approximately Rs 165)
* Snapchat+ with 250GB storage: $3.99 per month (approximately Rs 330)

For users looking to manage their content without subscribing, Snapchat provides a temporary storage period of 12 months for those who exceed the free storage limit. During this period, users have the option to download their content or opt for a paid subscription. Here are the steps to save Memories content directly to a device:

1. Open the Snapchat app.
2. Go to ‘Memories’ by tapping the photo icon.
3. Press and hold the Snap or Snaps you wish to download.
4. Tap ‘Export’.
5. Choose the location where you want to save your Snap.

Following the unrest in Nepal, Gen Z in Morocco has taken to the streets, staging protests since the final weeks of September. The discontent among the youth has spread across the nation, mirroring the situation in Nepal, with Moroccan youth now demanding the government’s removal. Demonstrators are calling for the King to dissolve the government. Tragically, the protests have resulted in three fatalities. The Moroccan youth group GenZ 212 has called for the government’s resignation, primarily due to concerns about corruption, the need for improved healthcare and education, and the desire for job opportunities. The protestors’ demands have escalated to the point of seeking regime change. The demonstrations, initially intended to be peaceful, turned violent, leading to clashes with the police on Tuesday and Wednesday. The authorities’ response resulted in three deaths. GenZ 212 issued a statement addressed to King Mohammed VI, urging the dismissal of the government, citing its failure to protect citizens’ constitutional rights and address their social concerns. They are also calling for a fair judicial process to prosecute those responsible for corruption. Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch had previously expressed the government’s willingness to address social demands and engage in dialogue regarding the youth protests.

The Gen-Z group has called for the arrest of former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and then-Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak concerning their alleged role in the shooting during anti-government protests on September 8th. The shooting resulted in 19 fatalities. Dr. Nicholas Bushal, one of the advisors to the Gen-Z group leading the protests, asserted that Oli, Lekhak, and Kathmandu’s Chief District Officer Chhabi Rizal should be immediately apprehended, as they were directly responsible for the shooting at New Baneshwor, which claimed the lives of 19 activists. Bushal also demanded the formation of a high-level investigation commission to probe the assets of all high-ranking leaders and government officials since 1990. Furthermore, Gen-Z activists held a demonstration at Maitighar Mandala, near the Singh Durbar Secretariat, demanding the arrest of Oli and Lekhak, the location where their protest rally commenced on September 8th.

Prime Minister of Nepal, Sushila Karki, announced that those involved in the violence and destruction during the anti-government protests across the country last week would be brought to justice. Karki…

Prime Minister of Nepal, Sushila Karki, announced that those involved in the violence and destruction during the anti-government protests across the country last week would be brought to justice. Karki also declared that those killed during the Gen-Z demonstrations would be declared martyrs, and their families would receive a compensation of ten lakh Nepalese rupees.

She took office at the newly constructed Home Ministry building in the Singh Durbar Secretariat in Kathmandu. Former Chief Justice of Nepal, Karki, was appointed acting Prime Minister by President Ramchandra Paudel on the recommendation of the Gen-Z group, which had ousted the K.P. Sharma Oli government through a two-day protest that concluded on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, sources in the President’s office have indicated that President Paudel, on the recommendation of the Prime Minister, has appointed Kulman Ghising, Rameshwar Khanal, and Om Prakash Aryal as ministers. According to sources, Ghising will receive the Ministry of Energy, Urban Development, and Road and Transport; Khanal will receive Finance, and Aryal will receive the Home Ministry. The swearing-in of these three ministers will take place at the President’s office this afternoon.

Following the arson at the Prime Minister’s office during the violent protests last Tuesday, the government has moved the Prime Minister’s office to the newly constructed Home Ministry building in the Singh Durbar complex. Addressing a meeting of secretaries and senior government officials immediately after taking office, Prime Minister Karki stated that those involved in the violence and destruction of public and private property would be brought to justice.

She said that the arson and vandalism on the protests of September 9 were pre-planned and that the Gen-Z protesters were not involved in such activities. Karki stated that the type of arson and vandalism was a criminal act, which was carried out in a planned manner, and those responsible should be punished.

She also instructed Chief Secretary Ek Narayan Aryal to arrange for the repair of police stations destroyed across the country. The movement, which began last Monday on social media against government restrictions, soon turned into a major campaign, reflecting public anger towards corruption and the alleged indifference of the political class.

K.P. Sharma Oli resigned after hundreds of protestors entered his office and demanded his resignation for the deaths of at least 19 people in police action during the demonstrations. Meanwhile, Chief Secretary Aryal reported that the number of deaths during the protests had risen to 72, including three police officers. He added that these included 59 protestors and 10 prisoners.
