  • After Mocking Apple, Xiaomi Confirms That Mi 11’s Retail Box Won’t Include USB Charger

Months after mocking Apple for removing charger from the iPhone 12 retail box, Xiaomi has announced that it would too ship the upcoming Mi 11 without a power adapter. The Mi 11 series that is expected to pack the vanilla Mi 11 and Mi 11 Pro will launch on December 28 in China. The latest development was shared by Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun via a post on Weibo. Xiaomi echoes Apple’s reasoning related to environmental protection for the removal of the charger from Mi 11’s box. Moreover, Samsung that too mocked Apple for its decision in October is rumoured to ship the next Galaxy S21 smartphones without a charger.

The Xiaomi executive further revealed the design of the Mi 11’s retail box which is not only thinner compared to other phones’ boxes that come with a charger, but it also lists some of the Mi 11’s features. For instance, the retail box highlights 108-megapixel camera, Super AMOLED screen, HDR10+ certification, and audio tuning by Harman Kardon. Earlier this week, the Chinese tech company announced that the smartphone(s) would feature a new display tech with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protection. Xiaomi has also showcased the vanilla Mi 11’s Geekbench scores that are significantly higher than the scores attained by Mi 10. The new series will pack the flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC.

  • Entire specs of Galaxy S21 Ultra leak ahead of official launch

Samsung is reported to announce the Galaxy S21 series on January 14. Ahead of it, the three devices in the series have leaked extensively in the past few days. Now, a new leak has emerged revealing the entire specs of the Galaxy S21 Ultra.

The specifications sheet of the upcoming Galaxy S21 Ultra comes from Roland Quandt of WinFuture. The same tipster is also responsible for the press renders of all the three handsets in the series – Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+, and Galaxy S21 Ultra.

According to him, the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra will feature a glass and metal sandwich design like any other premium smartphone. The glass used on it will be Corning Gorilla Glass Victus, which made its debut on the Galaxy Note20 Ultra.

  • Samsung’s Galaxy Note 20 and Z Flip 5G now come in red and white hues

Samsung thinks it has a simple way to spark smartphone sales going into the holidays: offer colors that were previously unavailable in the US. The company has unveiled a “limited” Mystic Red edition of the Galaxy Note 20 as well as a similarly rare Mystic White version of the Galaxy Z Flip 5G.

Both are available now and cost the same as their regular-hued counterparts. That may work in your favor, as Samsung is still offering deals that include a $150 instant rebate on the Galaxy Note 20 (plus up to a $550 trade-in and a $100 eCertificate) as well as savings up to $1,000 on the Galaxy Z Flip 5G if you exchange an older phone.

We had a mixed view of the Galaxy Note 20, and Mystic Red doesn’t change that. It boasts a great display, solid all-round camera capabilities, and that signature S Pen, but the 60Hz screen, lack of expandable storage, and “glasstic” back dampened our enthusiasm. With sale prices, however, it’s a considerably better value and may be an easier pick than the higher end Note 20 Ultra.

The Galaxy Z Flip 5G, meanwhile, is a subtle but welcome improvement over the original Z Flip, whether you get it in white or another shade. The 5G data is the obvious highlight, but it also makes the leap to a Snapdragon 865 Plus instead of the older 855. It’s just a question of whether or not you value a foldable phone enough to buy the Z Flip 5G over one of its more conventional counterparts.

  • Samsung’s next TWS earphones will be called Galaxy Buds Pro

This name was confirmed by the Indonesian Telecom Certification authority, right alongside the model number SM-R190. The new earbuds have also been certified by China’s 3C with a 472 mAh battery in the case, as well as the Korean NRRA.

All of these certifications mean that this product is almost ready to launch, and of course that fits well with the rumored mid-January S21 unveiling event. Based on the name, we wouldn’t be surprised at all if the Galaxy Buds Pro come with active noise cancellation, which has quickly become all the rage in the TWS market space.

Interestingly enough, so far the rumors have mentioned the Galaxy Buds Beyond as arriving alongside the S21 family, so perhaps “Beyond” was just a codename – or a marketing name that got changed at the last minute. Or Samsung could also be readying a different TWS product called Galaxy Buds Beyond. It’s all a bit confusing at the moment.

  • Samsung rolls out software update with bug fixes and improvements to Galaxy Fit 2

Samsung has rolled out a new software update to its Galaxy Fit 2 fitness tracker, which the South Korean tech giant launched along with Galaxy Note 20, claims a report by Sammobile.
The report suggests that the latest software update, which is 0.7MB in size, comes with bug fixes and feature improvements and bears firmware version R220XXU1ATK5.

The report claims that users in India have already received this update, however, in case they haven’t they can check for it manually by heading to the Galaxy Wearable app and tapping on Band software update.
For those unaware, the Samsung Galaxy Fit 2 is said to automatically detect and track up to five different types of activity providing fitness insights such as calories burned, heart rate, distance and more.
It is also said to be capable of tracking sleeping patterns and on the basis of that give a daily analysis and a Sleep Score. The fitness band comes with over 70 different face options and offers up to 15 days of battery life.

  • Galaxy S21 Ultra could debut with an updated camera sensor

The Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+, and the Galaxy S21 Ultra will be unveiled in early January, and the phones are expected to go on sale later that month. Early renders of the upcoming smartphones have already been leaked along with their battery capacities. Now, new information regarding the Galaxy S21 Ultra’s camera has surfaced.

According to @UniverseIce, the Galaxy S21 Ultra will bring a small improvement over the Galaxy S20 Ultra in terms of the primary camera. The upcoming flagship smartphone will reportedly use the ISOCELL HM3 camera sensor with 108MP resolution and 0.8μm pixels. The new sensor is claimed to offer 12% better light sensitivity, allowing the phone to capture slightly more details. It will also help the Galaxy S21 Ultra in capturing images faster in low-light conditions.

More importantly, Samsung will reportedly drop the 3D ToF sensor that is used in the Galaxy S20 Ultra. The company will switch the 3D ToF sensor with laser autofocus on the Galaxy S21 Ultra, which will aid in more reliable autofocus in low-light conditions and closer subjects. Samsung had already made its move to switch to laser autofocus with the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra.

It is still not clear if the Galaxy S21 Ultra will feature a quad-camera or a penta-camera setup. The phone is expected to feature a flat Super AMOLED Infinity-O display with a 120Hz refresh rate, QHD+ resolution, and HDR10+. The Galaxy S21 Ultra could debut with Android 11-based One UI 3.1, Exynos 2100 or Snapdragon 875 processor, and a 5,000mAh battery.

  • Samsung May Launch Flagship Galaxy S21 Phone Early to Grab Huawei Share, Say Sources

Samsung may launch its flagship Galaxy S smartphones more than a month earlier than expected in a bid to grab market share from Huawei and fend off competition from Apple, three sources familiar with the matter said.

Huawei once challenged Samsung’s top position in the global smartphone market, but the Chinese rival is in survival mode with US restrictions choking off its supplies of chips used in smartphones and telecom equipment.

South Korean chip industry officials hope Joe Biden’s presidency will ease some of those restrictions, although they are far from certain as they also expect the incoming US administration to maintain a tough stance on China.Samsung is preparing to launch its new Galaxy S21 as early as late January next year, whereas it previously launched its flagship S20 phone in early March this year, the sources said, asking not to be identified because the plan is not public.

The South Korean company shipped 59 percent fewer Galaxy S20 5G series handsets in the United States in the second quarter compared to the previous model’s performance a year earlier, according to research firm Canalys. In contrast, Apple shipped 15 percent more of its flagship iPhone 11 than last year’s best-seller, the iPhone XR.

Samsung, which lost its No.1 position to Huawei in the second quarter, regained the crown in the third thanks in part to the US restrictions on Huawei. A person at one major supplier of smartphone chips said Huawei’s stockpiles were expected to run out some time early next year.

Samsung, however, faces intensifying competition from Chinese rivals like Xiaomi and Oppo, which are expected to take advantage of Huawei’s struggle to retain market share.

Apple also launched its iPhone series in October, about a month later than usual, stepping up competition.
