  • DC Studios has no immediate plans for ‘Wonder Woman 3’

    By PTI

LOS ANGELES: Despite Hollywood star Gal Gadot’s recent comments about “Wonder Woman 3”, DC Studios is reportedly not looking to make the third chapter in the movie series anytime soon.

Multiple sources told news outlet Variety that “Wonder Woman” 3 is not in development at DC Studios.

In a recent interview, Gadot claimed that DC Studios heads James Gunn and Peter Safran told her they would develop “Wonder Woman 3” together.

“I love portraying Wonder Woman. It’s so close to and dear to my heart. From what I heard from James and from Peter is that we’re gonna develop a ‘Wonder Woman 3’ together,” the actor had said.

Gadot further talked about her future as Diana Prince aka Wonder Woman during a profile interview with Flaunt magazine.

“I was invited to a meeting with James Gunn and Peter Safran and what they told me, and I’m quoting: ‘You’re in the best hands. We’re going to develop ‘Wonder Woman 3′ with you. (We) love you as Wonder Woman. You’ve got nothing to worry about.’ So time will tell,” she had said.

Gadot first played Wonder Woman in Zack Snyder’s DC Universe, debuting in ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’ before leading her own two standalone films: ‘Wonder Woman’ and ‘Wonder Woman 1984.’

She most recently made cameos as Wonder Woman in the DC film ‘Shazam! Fury of the Gods’ and ‘The Flash.’

Her latest film ‘Heart of Stone’ starring Alia Bhatt and Jamie Dornan got released on Netflix today.

  • ‘Wonder Woman 3’ still on cards

    By Express News Service

In an unexpected turn of events, Gal Gadot is set to return as Diana Prince in Wonder Woman 3 under the leadership of James Gunn and Peter Safran at DC Studios. Gadot’s future as Wonder Woman almost came to an end when Patty Jenkins reportedly walked away from the project, however, the director denied the news later.

Speaking to a media portal prior to the SAG-AFTRA strike, Gadot spoke of her love for Wonder Woman and revealed that she had talked to both Gunn and Safran about returning for another sequel. Whether or not Jenkins is involved remains to be seen, but that’s a story for another time.

It is also unclear if this sequel would bring Gadot into the new DC Universe created by Gunn, alongside his new Superman and Lois Lane, or an Elseworlds tale, like the sequels to The Batman and Joker.

Gadot continued to appear as Wonder Woman in DC projects even after the cancellation of Wonder Woman 3, making cameos in both Shazam! Fury of the Gods and The Flash.

  • ‘Admire my character’s humanity’: Gal Gadot

    Express News Service

How would you describe Heart of Stone? It is a fun film with the perfect ingredients––humour, huge action-set pieces, drama and great characters. The story is women-driven and takes place in beautiful locations all around the world. I’m really excited for everyone to see it.

What can you tell us about your character, Rachel Stone? What do you like about her?She is an elite MI6 agent trying to protect her cover alongside Parker (played by Jamie Dornan) and the rest of the team. We’re working to stop a very dangerous criminal called Keya Dhawan (played by Alia Bhatt). I admire my character’s humanity and ability to have an open mind. I also love how she is something of a loose cannon. That was fun for me.

What is it about the action genre that appeals to you?For me, it’s more about the story, the character and the people I am working with than the genre. I’m really not addicted to adrenaline in my own life, so I don’t know what it is. I’m much more of a geek than I am an action hero-type, but I always try to be prepared for anything.

Do you think you would make a good spy in real life?I think I could make a great spy actually (laughs).

You not only star in the movie but are also one of the producers. What was it like having double the responsibility? It was a lot––like being pregnant with two elephants (laughs). This is actually the first movie my husband and I have produced as part of our production company, Pilot Wave. It’s taken four long years for us to get to this point.

Gal Gadot with Alia Bhatt (l) How was it working with your husband as a co-producer?We figured out early on that it was okay to disagree. From that moment, it’s been super smooth. Jaron and I are very close. We see eye-to-eye on most things. To be able to work with the person you trust and love the most is the best. He and I care for the same things. We are always together so it makes sense to work together.

How did you enjoy working with the rest of the cast on this movie?I loved it. Tom Harper is such a brilliant director. (Jamie) Dornan and Sophie Okonedo were a joy to work with. And (Alia) Bhatt is such a talented Bollywood actor. We had so much fun together, which I think shows on the screen. We were lucky that we had such immediate chemistry because it’s not always like that.

What is your training regime like for a movie like Heart of Stone?I make sure to always work out because it just makes me feel much better and I enjoy it. I get to the point that, when I don’t work out, I miss it. I don’t take many breaks, which means I’m usually ready for most physical challenges in films.

As a mother of young daughters, how does it feel to make a woman-driven movie such as this?It feels important. I want them to see themselves on the screen and for them to feel part of it. I have kids, Jamie has kids and they all came to set. We were all together on this journey.

You make a point of sending a positive message to your young fans, but what message do you wish you could have given yourself when you were younger?Stop worrying and just chill and enjoy the ride because whatever needs to happen will happen. That’s what I still tell myself.

You are playing the Evil Queen in the upcoming film, Snow White. What can you tell us about that?It was a different experience for me. I got to dance and sing and play an iconic, larger-than-life character. It’s fun to play the villain sometimes and it doesn’t get better than the Evil Queen.Asia Features

  • James Gunn shoots down claim Gal Gadot was ‘booted’ from DC Universe

    By IANS

LOS ANGELES: Filmmaker James Gunn and producer Peter Safran scrapped several ideas from the past regime like Henry Cavill’s return as Superman and Patty Jenkins’ take on ‘Wonder Woman 3’.

Many fans have speculated that with the axing of the third installment of the ‘Wonder Woman’ film, Gal Gadot had been “booted” from DC.

However, Gunn provided some clarity about Gadot and where she currently stands, reports ‘Deadline’.

“I’m not sure where you’re getting that we ‘booted’ Gal,” Gunn replied.

Gunn’s response could be interpreted in two ways: Gadot is still working with DC for a future Wonder Woman appearance or Gadot left DC on her own accord amid the shakeup.

Jenkins’s treatment for ‘Wonder Woman 3’ was rejected by the new regime at DC as it did not fit the plans Gunn and Safran have for the DC Universe.

“I never walked away. I was open to considering anything asked of me. It was my understanding there was nothing I could do to move anything forward at this time. DC is obviously buried in changes they are having to make, so I understand these decisions are difficult right now,” Jenkins said in a statement.

Prior to news that ‘Wonder Woman 3′ was not happening under Jenkins’ direction, Gadot shared a hopeful message about sharing with fans the “next chapter” of the superhero.

“A few years ago it was announced that I was going to play Wonder Woman. I’ve been so grateful for the opportunity to play such an incredible, iconic character and more than anything I’m grateful for YOU. The fans. Can’t wait to share her next chapter with you,” Gadot shared on social media.

Gunn has been getting a lot of backlash over his decisions as the DC Universe goes into a new direction. ‘The Suicide Squad’ director addressed fans in a series of tweets calling out the “disrespectful outcry.”

“Our choices for the DCU are based upon what we believe is best for the story & best for the DC characters who have been around for nearly 85 years. Perhaps these choices are great, perhaps not, but they are made with sincere hearts & integrity & always with the story in mind,” he tweeted.

Gunn continued, “We were aware there would be a period of turbulence when we took this gig, & we knew we would sometimes have to make difficult & not-so-obvious choices, especially in the wake of the fractious nature of what came before us.”

  • Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot cameos cut from ‘The Flash’

    By Express News Service

It is being reported that 2023’s upcoming DC Studios film The Flash will no longer include cameos from Henry Cavill’s Superman and Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman.

Though they had already been filmed, the cameos have been cut from the Ezra Miller-led superhero film just over six months before the movie’s release date. This is another step towards ending the former DC Extended Universe to make way for the new DC Universe being created by DC Studios Co-CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran.

The news comes shortly after Cavill announced that he will no longer be playing Superman in future projects following conversations with Gunn about the future of DC’s film adaptations — a solid indicator that DC Studios is committed to a large overhaul.

With Jason Momoa potentially leaving Aquaman behind to play Lobo and Patty Jenkins’ version of Wonder Woman 3 no longer moving forward, it seems as though the DC Extended Universe that started with 2013’s Man of Steel is coming to a close.

  • Watch: Netflix unveils first look of Alia Bhatt’s Hollywood debut ‘Heart of Stone’

    By ANI

MUMBAI: Finally the wait is over! Netflix unveiled the first look of their upcoming action thriller ‘Heart of Stone’ which stars Gal Gadot, Jamie Dornon and Alia Bhatt, who will be marking her Hollywood debut with this film.

On Saturday night, Netflix’s official Instagram handle, dropped the teaser of the film, the very first footage from the film, also including some BTS ‘glimpses’ of the high-octane action sequences.

At ‘Tudum: A Netflix Global Fan Event’, the video was made public on Netflix’s YouTube page. Over 120 titles from around the world were announced at the event or released as teasers or trailers.

At the start of the video, a long shot of a bike speeding through a coastal road and a desert could be seen. Then comes a voiceover, which goes like, “You know what you signed up for–no friends, no relationships. What we do is too important.”

The video then provides the first glimpse of Gal Gadot as Rachel Stone amid montages of desolate neighbourhoods. Afterwards, the video provides a behind-the-scenes look at some of the action and stunt scenes from the movie as well as a sneak peek at how they ultimately play out.

After a quick glimpse of Alia Bhatt, who is making her Hollywood debut with the movie and Jamie Dornan, there are several shots of fast-paced action scenes. Heart of Stone promises to be a truly epic novel.

It’s a very real, gritty action thriller. Gal Gadot, who is portraying the pivotal role of CIA agent Rachel Stone, explains that “Heart of Stone is going to be extremely epic. It’s a super grounded, raw action thriller. We really wanted to make sure we keep it realistic so people can feel the pain”.

During some of the BTS scenes in the video, Alia Bhatt, who is starring in the movie and making her international debut, says,” It has these characters that you connect with and feel for.” The video also reveals that her character in the film is called Keya Dhawan, but does not reveal more details about the character.

Alia also filmed several action scenes for the movie. Earlier this year, visuals of the diva filming scenes with her visible pregnancy bump appeared online and created a huge buzz.

In an interview with Variety, Alia said, “It was my first Hollywood big English picture experience and I had quite a task at hand because I was shooting for the first time an action movie. But I’m also pregnant so there were so many layers for me to deal with. But they made it so seamless and so easy and so comfortable for me. It’s something that I will never forget because of how beautifully and how well I was treated.”

Helmed by Tom Harper, ‘Heart of Stone’ is intended to be the first instalment in a series akin to Tom Cruise’s Mission Impossible. The movie also stars Sophie Okonedo, Matthias Schweighofer, Jing Lusi, and Paul Ready in addition to Gal, Jamie, and Alia. The movie is slated to release on Netflix in 2023.
