In a strategic boost to India’s mining ambitions, the seventh tranche of critical mineral block auctions launches Monday, led by Minister G. Kishan Reddy and his deputy Satish Chandra Dubey. Announced by the Mines Ministry, this round targets essential resources fueling the nation’s future.

Critical minerals drive economic progress and secure mineral independence. Global pivots to renewables and cutting-edge tech have intensified needs for lithium, graphite, REEs, tungsten, vanadium, titanium, and more. Yet, supply constraints and regional monopolies threaten stable chains worldwide.

India responded decisively with 2023 amendments to the MMDR Act, classifying 24 minerals as critical. Central authority now handles auctions, funneling proceeds to states. Six prior rounds delivered 46 blocks, showcasing robust bidder engagement and sector maturity.

This phase unveils 19 blocks in various states, rich in minerals vital for green energy, advanced manufacturing, agriculture, and strategic needs. Reforms sharpen the process: 2025 rules optimize timelines, while 2026 amendments allow insurance bonds over bank guarantees, enhancing bidder flexibility.

The online, two-bid ascending format selects top offers by mineral revenue share. As India accelerates, this auction promises investment influx, job creation, and a fortified position in international mineral markets, ensuring long-term growth amid evolving demands.

In a blistering critique, Union Minister G Kishan Reddy has charged the Congress-led Telangana government with orchestrating a brutal suppression of democratic norms. Speaking in Hyderabad on February 22, he described the state’s political climate as ‘chillingly worrisome’ amid escalating tensions.

The flashpoint: a violent assault on BJP MLA K Venkata Ramana Reddy’s camp office in Kamareddy, followed by the house arrest of key BJP figures including state president N Ramchander Rao. Reddy called this a blatant violation of fundamental rights.

When BJP leaders attempted to rally in support of their colleague, they were confined to their residences—a move Reddy likened to the dark days of Emergency. ‘This panic stems from BJP’s growing footprint; Congress is resorting to revenge tactics,’ he alleged.

Highlighting the selective targeting, Reddy noted unfounded accusations against the MLA and the audacious vehicle ramming by Congress affiliates, exposing law enforcement’s frailty. ‘Police should serve justice, not political agendas,’ he emphasized.

Despite the clampdown, Reddy affirmed BJP’s resolve: ‘We won’t be intimidated. We’ll champion people’s causes relentlessly.’ His call to the government: cease politically motivated detentions and honor democratic principles, or face public backlash.

Bandi Sanjay Kumar, another BJP heavyweight, labeled Rao’s detention unlawful, as he was en route to console violence victims. Slamming Congress-AIMIM for shielding attackers while jailing opposition, Sanjay declared a ‘police state’ prevails.

He rallied party cadres to remain vigilant, expose injustices, and stand with the aggrieved, underscoring BJP’s unyielding fight against what they see as authoritarian overreach in Telangana.

In a blistering attack, Union Ministers have targeted Rahul Gandhi over the Youth Congress’s disruptive, shirtless protest at Delhi’s prestigious India AI Impact Summit. The unusual demonstration against PM Modi…

In a blistering attack, Union Ministers have targeted Rahul Gandhi over the Youth Congress’s disruptive, shirtless protest at Delhi’s prestigious India AI Impact Summit. The unusual demonstration against PM Modi and an upcoming India-US trade pact has ignited a political firestorm.

G Kishan Reddy, Union Coal and Mines Minister, led the charge on social media platform X. He branded Gandhi’s tactics as misleading and demoralizing for India’s vibrant youth and startup ecosystem. ‘Rahul Gandhi’s instructions turned Congress activists into shirtless vandals, sabotaging a landmark AI event,’ Reddy fumed.

The minister emphasized the summit’s success in delivering tangible results for India’s tech future, contrasting it with Gandhi’s ‘negative campaign’ that discourages innovation. ‘No action of his ever serves India’s interests; he thrives on portraying the country negatively,’ Reddy declared, urging public awakening to Gandhi’s anti-progress stance.

Echoing this, Minister of State for Home Bandi Sanjay Kumar mocked Congress’s hypocrisy. At the same summit location, Telangana CM Revanth Reddy lauded Modi’s vision, yet Youth Congress indulged in ‘nonsense theatrics.’

Sanjay’s X post captured the duplicity: ‘One party, dual faces, utter shamelessness. When the tricolor soars on world stages, you don’t cheapen it with street antics. This is no opposition—it’s a national embarrassment driven by political insanity.’

The episode underscores deepening political divides as India pushes AI leadership amid global partnerships.

Union Minister G Kishan Reddy has unveiled ambitious AI pilots in India’s mining industry, aimed at skyrocketing production, slashing theft, and elevating operational efficiency and worker safety. Speaking in New Delhi on Wednesday, Reddy emphasized the technology’s trial phase as a game-changer for the sector.

‘AI holds immense promise for boosting output in our mines,’ Reddy told reporters. ‘Beyond productivity, it’s key to curbing theft and improving both efficiency and safety protocols.’ Officials from the Mines Ministry are delving into cutting-edge applications at major AI forums to refine these strategies.

This push aligns with broader governmental efforts showcased at the India AI Impact Summit 2026. Structured around three core pillars—people, planet, and progress—and seven working groups, the summit fosters frameworks for ethical AI deployment across economies and societies.

Union Minister Prahlad Joshi spotlighted AI’s welfare impact, noting its role in delivering aid to 80 crore-plus citizens via PM Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana. Innovations like smart PDS and Ann Chakra have slashed costs by 250 crore through route optimization, pinpointing optimal warehouses effortlessly.

In the energy domain, Minister Manohar Lal underscored AI’s transformative power. ‘Real-time insights from AI will solve intractable power supply challenges, guaranteeing uninterrupted electricity for all,’ he said. These revelations paint a picture of AI as India’s engine for inclusive growth and sectoral excellence.

In a strategic push towards mineral self-sufficiency, Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy initiated the second round of exploration license auctions for mineral blocks. Held in New Delhi, the event underscores the government’s focus on invigorating domestic exploration to meet growing demands.

Reddy stressed the necessity of intensifying exploration activities with active involvement from private and public sectors alike. This approach is designed to cut down India’s import bills for essential minerals, vital for industries like electronics, renewables, and defense.

The minister reaffirmed the Centre’s dedication to a tech-savvy, transparent exploration regime that uncovers India’s dormant mineral resources. Critical minerals hold immense strategic value, and a strong exploration backbone is key to realizing the vision of a developed India by 2047.

Reforms in the mining domain are not incremental but game-changing, Reddy noted, driving transparency, operational efficiency, and attracting substantial investments.

Complementing the auction launch, the GSI’s advanced NG Portal went live. This sophisticated, cloud-based system unifies geological data processes with AI and ML capabilities, linking seamlessly to NGDR. Experts anticipate it will revolutionize how exploration decisions are made, enhancing accuracy and speed.

Featuring 11 high-potential blocks across eight states, this phase follows the success of the inaugural round. Secretary Piyush Goyal praised the regulatory updates—the Mineral Auction Amendment Rules and MMDR Act amendments—for streamlining processes and opening doors for diverse investors. With key officials present, the event marked a new chapter in India’s mining renaissance.

The race for Hyderabad Metro’s next chapter is heating up. Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy announced Tuesday that Telangana is locked in ongoing discussions with the central government to greenlight Phase-II of the metro rail project.

Responding to a letter from Union Minister G Kishan Reddy, the CM outlined the state’s diligent preparations. He cited his meeting with Manohar Lal Khattar, emphasizing relentless pursuit of necessary approvals.

Kishan Reddy had flagged the absence of state nominees in a proposed joint committee for the project. Revanth Reddy clarified that structural details were promptly sent to the urban affairs ministry, quashing any procedural delays.

The CM appealed to Kishan Reddy to expedite the process using his clout, stressing continuous coordination. This comes after the minister’s recent nudge to acquire Phase-I assets from L&T, paving the way for Phase-II advancement.

The center has granted in-principle approval, contingent on Phase-I completion and joint committee activation. Kishan Reddy voiced worries about timelines, urging swift action to benefit Hyderabad’s commuters.

Telangana’s transport minister echoed the urgency, noting Phase-II’s 76-km extension would link key suburbs, reduce traffic snarls, and spur real estate booms. Infrastructure experts predict it could handle millions of passengers daily.

Political undercurrents aside, the project’s success depends on bureaucratic harmony. With elections looming, both sides appear motivated to deliver for the city’s 10 million residents.

Hyderabad’s metro dream edges closer, promising a greener, faster urban future if approvals align.

In a bold move to rescue Hyderabad’s faltering metro dream, BJP leader and Union Coal Minister G Kishan Reddy has written to CM A Revanth Reddy, demanding urgent acceleration of land acquisition for the city’s metro extensions. The letter, dispatched amid growing commuter frustration, underscores the critical impasse threatening Phase-II expansions.

Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL) reports that over 200 acres of land remain unacquired across key stretches, leading to stalled tenders and ballooning expenses. Routes vital for IT hubs like HITEC City and financial districts are particularly affected, with construction crews idle and deadlines slipping month after month.

Reddy, representing Secunderabad in Parliament, lambasted bureaucratic red tape and political indecision. He advocated for a war-room approach: appointing special acquisition officers, leveraging digital land records for quicker surveys, and offering premium compensation to expedite voluntary handovers. ‘Central funding is ready; state machinery must match the pace,’ he asserted.

The appeal resonates deeply in a city where metro ridership has surged 25% year-on-year, yet capacity strains under explosive urban growth. Experts estimate that resolving acquisition issues could shave years off the project timeline, unlocking 15,000 crore rupees in economic activity.

With opposition voices amplifying the call, Revanth Reddy faces mounting pressure to prioritize this infrastructure cornerstone. Success here could cement his legacy as a decisive leader; inaction risks painting his government as development-delaying. Hyderabad’s commuters await concrete steps that turn political rhetoric into rail reality.

Following the tragic explosion at the Sigachi Pharma chemical factory in Sangareddy district, Telangana, which resulted in 34 fatalities, Union Minister G Kishan Reddy has advocated for the establishment of a high-level committee. This committee’s primary objective is to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future. Reddy highlighted the swift response from the Prime Minister’s Office, which, upon receiving news of the blast, coordinated with the Home Ministry and directed the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) to provide comprehensive assistance. He emphasized the need for such committees to inspect the numerous pharmaceutical and other industrial facilities in Hyderabad and surrounding areas. The goal is to proactively implement safety measures and ensure such accidents are averted. Telangana BJP President N Ramchander Rao also expressed grave concern, labeling the incident as ‘very serious,’ and called for a thorough investigation to determine the cause, including potential negligence by management or regulatory bodies. The explosion, which occurred on Monday in the Pasamailaram Phase 1 area of Sangareddy district, also injured over a dozen workers. BRS leader K Kavitha visited injured victims in a Patancheru hospital on Tuesday and alleged government negligence, demanding substantial compensation for the affected families.
