Amid rising concerns over West Asian developments impacting the Hormuz Strait, India’s fuel supply remains steady. The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas updated on measures ensuring seamless availability of petroleum products and LPG, with domestic supplies taking top priority.

A staggering 51.5 lakh-plus household LPG cylinders reached consumers on April 10, underscoring normal operations. To manage demand, urban bookings are now spaced 25 days apart, rural at 45 days, complemented by boosted refinery output and prioritized allocations.

Panic purchasing is strongly discouraged—rely only on verified channels. LPG users should opt for digital bookings over physical visits to distributors. Energy-saving tips include switching to PNG, electric appliances, or induction cooktops.

Coal supplies are ramped up for smaller users via Coal India and Singareni, while states facilitate new PNG links. Hoarding crackdowns are relentless: 3,400+ inspections on April 10 led to fines on 214 distributors and suspension of 5. Public sector oil firms are conducting surprise checks.

Digital trends shine bright—98% jump in online bookings and 93% in DAC-secured deliveries prevent diversions. States enforce Essential Commodities Act provisions against stockpiling. Inter-ministerial meetings, chaired by key secretaries, push for daily briefings, fake news countermeasures on social media, and daily enforcement by district administrations.

Targeted distribution of 5-kg FTL cylinders ensures household stability. Control rooms and district committees are active nationwide. Government’s letters on March 27 and April 2 stress public reassurance campaigns. No distributor shortages reported, affirming supply chain resilience.
