Work is being done at many levels to take forward the resolve of malnutrition free from Chhattisgarh. In view of the high malnutrition rate among children in forest and tribal areas, continuous efforts are being made to remove malnutrition by running special campaigns in these areas. In this episode, in all 556 Anganwadi centers of Narayanpur district, 15 thousand blankets are being distributed by the workers to all the children of 0-6 years coming to Anganwadi in the first week of June. Along with this, information about Kangaroo Mother Care is also being given to the parents for proper development of children and protection from cold. Children and their parents are very happy to get the blanket before the rainy season. The parents have expressed their happiness by expressing their gratitude to the Chhattisgarh government.
In view of the geographical and social conditions of Vananchal, in the financial year 2020-21, the district administration will provide nutritious food to weak and anemic women, including malnourished children and infant and pregnant women, in the coming 0-6 years in Anganwadi centers. It was decided to provide blankets to all the 15,000 children of the state. For this, a provision of Rs 71 lakh was made from the District Mineral Trust Fund (DMF) and blankets were provided by the funded organization of Khadi Village Industries Board.
It is noteworthy that Naxal-affected Narayanpur district, which was carved out of Bastar district in 2007, is part of the Dandakaranya forest area. Surrounded by dense forests and rivers, many tribes like Gond, Halbi, Maria, Muria reside in this area. Starting from the first week of June till the end of winter, it gets quite cold here. Due to excessive cold, most of the children suffer from seasonal diseases like cold and cold during this period. Tribal communities face long periods of cold by lighting a bonfire or bonfire. The smoke emitted from them also affects the health of children and women more. During this, the energy from food is wasted in keeping the body warm instead of physical development. Under these circumstances, children become victims of malnutrition and pneumonia. The initiative of distribution of blankets to children before the coming monsoon and winter will reduce the rate of pneumonia, malnutrition and mortality among children.
