Russia has commenced the covert dispatch of its cutting-edge Su-57 fifth-generation fighter jets to an undisclosed international purchaser. The United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) has officially announced the handover of two operational Su-57 units.

Vadim Badekha, the CEO of UAC, stated that the two Su-57 aircraft have been successfully delivered to a foreign client and are now actively serving. He confirmed the client’s satisfaction with the performance of these advanced aircraft.

The identity of the acquiring nation remains confidential. However, Russia’s primary arms export entity, Rosoboronexport, had previously disclosed the finalization of an Su-57 deal in November 2024, maintaining strict secrecy regarding the buyer at that time.

Speculation among defense analysts points towards Algeria as a potential recipient. This theory is bolstered by reports from Algerian state media earlier this year, indicating that Algerian pilots were undergoing training in Russia specifically for the Su-57.

The Su-57 represents Russia’s pinnacle in fifth-generation stealth fighter technology, produced in limited quantities. Globally, only a select few nations possess serial production capabilities for such advanced aircraft, including the United States (F-35, F-22), China (J-20, J-35), and Russia (Su-57).

The export version, designated Su-57E, incorporates distinct modifications in its electronics, avionics, and software compared to its domestic counterparts, tailoring it for international market demands. This initial foreign delivery underscores Russia’s sustained manufacturing output, even amidst ongoing geopolitical challenges.

Experts suggest that Russia is either maintaining its production lines for these advanced fighters or leveraging existing stock to meet international commitments. The Su-57 is recognized for its sophisticated stealth characteristics, integrated digital systems, and versatile combat roles. Western intelligence agencies have maintained a keen focus on Russia’s defense industry, particularly following recent global events, making this first export of the Su-57 a significant development in the global military landscape.

In a striking display of digital engagement, President Donald Trump shared an AI-generated video depicting him as ‘King Trump’ piloting a fighter jet. The clip shows the jet spraying a brown liquid over what appear to be protesters. This move comes as ‘No Kings’ protests have surged across the United States, with organizers claiming nearly seven million participants. The White House also reportedly shared a screenshot of the President in an emperor’s crown on X.

The 19-second video, posted on Truth Social, illustrates a fighter jet labeled ‘King Trump’ dispensing a mud-like substance onto demonstrators from above. The ‘No Kings’ movement saw a significant increase in participation compared to earlier demonstrations in June, according to reports. Authorities indicated that the widespread rallies have remained predominantly peaceful, with no significant incidents or arrests reported.

Key protest locations included Chicago, where participants carried homemade signs and ‘Hands Off Chicago’ posters. In Los Angeles, inflatable costumes and American flags were visible. Federal employees also marched on Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington D.C., advocating for more measured political discourse. These ‘No Kings’ protests are occurring against the backdrop of a federal government shutdown and ongoing legislative gridlock.

The Indian Air Force is officially retiring its iconic MiG-21 fighter jets. This marks the end of nearly six decades of service for the MiG-21, once considered the “most powerful” element of India’s air defense. A formal flypast and decommissioning ceremony will be held at the Indian Air Force base in Chandigarh, with senior military officials and veteran pilots who have flown the aircraft across generations in attendance. Introduced in 1963, the MiG-21 was India’s first supersonic fighter jet, with the first squadron, the 28 Squadron based in Chandigarh, earning the nickname “First Supersonics.” Over the years, India has inducted over 700 MiG-21 aircraft of various types, many of which were manufactured domestically by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited. Just like humans, aircraft worldwide are commissioned and decommissioned after their service life. The MiG-21 is now facing retirement. The article delves into the protocols for retired fighter jets, discussing their fate post-retirement.

The MiG-21, a stalwart of the Indian Air Force for six decades, is set to retire, marking the end of an era. This aircraft was more than just a fighter jet; it symbolized India’s valor and served as a shield for the nation in every war and on every front. The MiG-21’s significance in India’s security is underscored by its service from the 1965 war to Operation Safed Sagar. The Indian Air Force will decommission its final MiG-21 fighter jets in a ceremony in Chandigarh on September 26th. With only two MiG-21 squadrons remaining, the final flights of these aircraft occurred at the Nal Air Force Base in Rajasthan, where the MiG-21 was first inducted into the Air Force in 1963. The MiG-21’s introduction was crucial following the 1962 India-China war, offering a much-needed aerial defense against both Pakistan and China. The aircraft was constantly upgraded, with HAL beginning its manufacture in India in 1971. The MiG-21 has played a crucial role in several conflicts, including the 1971 India-Pakistan war, and the 1999 Kargil conflict and even during the 2019 Pulwama attack. Despite its distinguished service, the MiG-21 earned the unfortunate nickname ‘Flying Coffin’ due to a high number of crashes. The Air Force has long sought a replacement for the MiG-21, but its retirement was repeatedly postponed. Now, with the LCA Tejas Mk.1 and Mk.1A, a replacement is finally on the horizon.

Russia has proposed a significant offer to India to bolster its air power. According to reports, Russia has offered to supply and facilitate local production of its fifth-generation Su-57 stealth fighter jet to India. Sources indicate that Russia is slated to complete the delivery of all five S-400 Triumf air defense systems to India by 2026. Concurrently, discussions between the two nations are ongoing regarding additional S-400 systems.

Dmitry Shugaev, the head of Russia’s Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation (FSMTC), stated that India is already utilizing the S-400 system, suggesting the potential for further collaboration in this domain. This indicates that a new deal could be reached.

The Su-57 is a fifth-generation stealth multi-role fighter jet designed by Russia for future air combat. It is engineered to evade enemy radar detection, capable of supersonic speeds and long-range strikes. The jet is equipped with advanced avionics, offering multi-dimensional combat capabilities. This acquisition would significantly enhance the capabilities of the Indian Air Force, providing a strategic advantage against rising air power, particularly from nations like China.

India’s involvement in the Su-57 project would not only grant access to state-of-the-art stealth fighter jets but also boost the ‘Make in India’ initiative through local production. Furthermore, concluding an additional S-400 deal would substantially reinforce India’s air defense capabilities. This offer from Russia represents a considerable step towards elevating India’s defense preparedness, enabling the Air Force to defend against aerial threats and maintain a strategic edge.

The Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA) has issued an Expression of Interest (EOI) to facilitate the development of the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA), India’s indigenous fifth-generation fighter jet. This initiative aims to identify and shortlist Indian companies, including single entities, joint ventures, or consortia, that possess the technical expertise necessary for AMCA’s development, prototype construction, flight testing, and certification. Eligible companies must comply with Indian laws and regulations, demonstrating experience in aerospace and defense, the capability to implement the AMCA design, and expertise in development, engineering, manufacturing, equipping, integration, testing, quality management, and customer support. Shortlisted entities will also need to establish a manufacturing facility for serial production. The project’s timeline for development, prototyping, flight testing, and certification is set to be within eight years from the contract’s effective date. This move follows Defence Minister Rajnath Singh’s approval of the AMCA Programme Execution Model in May, which is designed to boost indigenous defense capabilities and strengthen the domestic aerospace industry.
