  • Girl molested, her family lynches 32-year-old accused in Faridabad

    FARIDABAD: A 32-year-old man was beaten to death by the family of a girl whom he allegedly molested in Deha colony here, police said on Wednesday. The deceased was identified as Mohit Yadav, they said.

    The incident occurred at around 11.50 pm on Wednesday, they said.

    Yadav and his friend Naveen were sitting in a car when around 10 members of the girl’s family attacked them with an iron rod, sticks and axe.

    Yadav, who was wanted in a murder case that took place in Kheripul area in April, had allegedly molested a girl along with Naveen, they said.

    According to the police, other women in the girl’s family were also allegedly harassed by the accused.

    The police said they arrested Mukesh, his brother-in-law Ajay alias Amit and his son Karan, all residents of Riwajpur village near Deha village, in connection with the matter.

    Yadav’s wife Deepika in her complaint alleged when she along with her brother-in-law Bharat reached the spot she saw the accused thrashing Yadav and Naveen, they said.

    They rushed the duo to a hospital where the doctors declared Yadav dead while Naveen is undergoing treatment, the police said.

    An FIR has been registered against more than ten accused under sections 302 (murder), 148 (riots), 149 (unlawful assembly), 323 (causing hurt), and 427 (causing damage) of the Indian Penal Code at Bhupani police station, they said.

    Inspector Rajiv Kumar, head of the crime unit (DLF, Faridabad) said, “We are questioning the accused and are conducting raids to nab another. The deceased was also wanted in a murder case. The further probe is underway.”

  • Fake holiday package gang busted in Faridabad, four held

    FARIDABAD: The Faridabad police on Friday busted an interstate gang and nabbed four of its members for allegedly duping people on the pretext of providing them with fake holiday packages after posing as bank employees.

    Police said the accused duped over 55 people in different states.

    Rs 35,000 cash, one POS machine, computer, printer, 17 mobile phones and 18 SIM cards procured using fake IDs have been recovered from their possession, they said.

    The arrested accused were identified as Uttam Singh, originally hailing from Bihar; Tushar from Rajasthan; Mohammad Mubin and Maz Mohammad, natives of Uttar Pradesh.

    Police also sealed their four fake bank accounts using which transactions of Rs 65 lakh were done in the last six months.

    The accused revealed that they had duped 55 people, including 17 from Delhi-NCR, 15 in Uttar Pradesh, nine in Telangana, five in Haryana, three in Maharashtra and two in Gujarat.

    “The accused targeted credit card holders after buying the data from Just Dial. They posed as bank representatives from the customer care number through a customized app,” said Surender Sheoran, ACP (Crime), Faridabad.

    The accused would convince the prospective targets to buy holiday packages using credit cards and swindle them of their balance once they would go ahead with the transaction.

    “We are questioning the accused,” the ACP said.

  • Faridabad man arrested for buying phones showing fake payment screenshots

    NEW DELHI: A 25-year-old man was arrested for allegedly cheating shopkeepers by purchasing mobiles phones showing fake screenshots of payment, police said on Saturday.

    The accused was identified as Hemant Vashisht, a resident of Faridabad in Haryana, they said.

    According to police, a case was registered on Thursday at Cyber Police Station in central district.

    The matter came to light when a Rajinder Nagar shopkeeper named Mohsin Khan filled a complaint against an alleged fraud.

    In his complaint, he wrote that in August a customer came to his shop to purchase a Samsung S-21 mobile phone.

    The customer wanted to make the payment through online mode, he said, and when he agreed, the customer showed him a screenshot of the payment.

    Later, the shopkeeper found no payment was made by the buyer and the screenshot he was showed was fake, a senior police officer said.

    During investigation, police found that the bought phone was being used by a man named Aslam, living in Ramesh Nagar, police said.

    When asked about it, Aslam said he had purchased the phone from a shop in Gaffar Market, Karol Bagh.

    Later, police interrogated Sunil Kumar, the shopkeeper from whom Aslam had bought the mobile.

    Kumar said he was sold the phone by an unknown person, the officer said.

    Later, police received a tip-off that Vashisht was coming to sell another phone to the same shopkeeper, and arrested him when came, Deputy Commissioner of Police (central) Shweta Singh Chauhan said.

    Vashisht is a commerce graduate from Allahabad University and is currently working as property dealer in Faridabad, she said.

    He used to cheat people by showing fake screenshots of payment for expensive mobile phones and later sold those mobile phones to others, the DCP said.

  • Govt hospital staff among three held for black marketing Tocilizumab injections in Faridabad

    NEW DELHI: Three men, including a staff of a government hospital in Faridabad, have been arrested for allegedly black-marketing Tocilizumab injections, used in the treatment of COVID patients, police said on Saturday.

    The accused have been identified as Utkrisht Gupta (22), a resident of Vaishali in Ghaziabad, Manish (32), a resident of Laxmi Nagar, and Raghubir (27), a resident of Faridabad, they said.

    On Friday, police received information that a man was selling Tocilizumab injection at an exorbitant price.

    A client posing as a buyer then called the man who agreed to sell one vial of the injection at Rs 2.90 lakh, a senior police officer said.

    The man asked the customer to come to Laxmi Nagar to get the vial, police said.

    “Police laid a trap at Laxmi Nagar and nabbed Gupta on Friday night. One vial of Tocilizumab injection and one mobile phone was recovered from his possession,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (southeast) R P Meena said.

    Police also searched Gupta’s residence in Sakarpur and recovered another vial of the injection. Gupta disclosed that he had received the vial from Manish, the DCP said.

    Thereafter, Manish was also apprehended from Laxmi Nagar.

    Manish told the police that he had got the vial from Raghuvir who is staff at ESI Hospital in Faridabad, Meena said.

    A trap was then laid at the hospital and when Raghubir came to deliver another vial of Tocilizumab injection to Manish at Rs 1.60 lakh, he was arrested, he said.

    He used to steal the vials from the hospital and sell them to Manish, they said.

    Manish used to supply those injections to Gupta who further sold them in the black market, police said, adding three vials of Tocilizumab injections, one motorcycle and one scooter were recovered from his possession.

  • About half of Haryana cases in Gurugram, Faridabad

    CHANDIGARH: Gurugram and Faridabad account for more than 48% of total active cases in Haryana and are in a critical category for having a positivity rate of over 6%. The two districts in the NCR region border Delhi. Besides these two, the other six districts in the critical category are Panipat, Sonepat, Rewari, Karnal, Amabala and Panchkula.

    Sources said as per the analysis of data by the state health department, around 15% of total cases need oxygen, about 20% hospitalisation and 3% ventilator support. All ICU beds are occupied in the state. Medical infrastructure in Gurugram is under severe pressure and won’t be able to cope with a significant addition of patients.

    Besides, there is shortage of paramedical staff in private hospitals and doctors are overworked, said sources. On April 1, there were 108 cases in Faridabad. On April 8 the figure went up to 378 and on April 15, there were 810 cases, which rose to 1,342 and 1,545 on April 26. As many as 1,330 cases were reported on April 27.

    Total number of Covid patients across the state was 67,348 between April 19-25 and 40,090 between April 12-18. Active cases were 79,466 on April 26 with 6.07% positivity rate. Number of cases reported on April 27 was 11,931. Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said: “In the difficult situation, we don’t have to play with data. Our focus should be on recovery providing relief. Those who have died will not return by creating a furore. We will do everything to save lives. The question is whether we are able to set the system right. From our side, we are setting the systems in place.”

  • 19-year-old held from Faridabad for harassing over 50 women on social media

    NEW DELHI: A 19-year-old man was arrested form Faridabad for allegedly harassing more than 50 girls and women by stalking them on social media platforms through a fake identity and morphing their pictures, police said on Wednesday.

    The accused, Rahim Khan, studied up to Class 8 and was engaged in operating various morphing mobile applications, they said.

    The police said the accused harassed more than 50 girls and women after stalking them over various social media platforms.

    He used to send them messages with sexual connotations on these platforms using a fake identity of a woman.

    The accused even targeted minors by morphing their pictures.

    Khan was arrested after a complaint was received at the RP Puram police station on Tuesday from one of the victims, who alleged that an unknown person was sending her morphed pictures to her from the Instagram handle “ch_rahim_khan786” and further demanding nude pictures, according to the police.

    Based on technical inquiry and details obtained from Instagram, a Cyber Cell team of southwest district traced the location of the accused.

    Khan was nabbed from his house in Haryana’s Faridabad, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southwest) Ingit Pratap Singh said.

    During interrogation, Khan confessed to his involvement in the crime and told the police that he had victimised over 50 girls and women across the country for personal satisfaction, the officer said.

    The police have recovered incriminating evidence including chat details, video clips and photographs of various women from Khan’s mobile phone.

    Further investigation is underway, the police said, adding that efforts are being made to contact the other victims.

  • Border seals, bus, train and metro service of Delhi affected due to farmer movement

    There is going to be a huge demonstration of farmers of Punjab and Haryana on Thursday-Friday in the country’s capital Delhi. These farmers are strongly opposing the recently passed agricultural law. It is being claimed that thousands of farmers can perform in Delhi today under the banner of Bharatiya Kisan Union.

    The police has also made complete preparations to prevent farmers from entering Delhi. The Delhi Police has turned down all demands of farmer organizations to hold demonstrations in the capital. Delhi Police has said that if farmers gather in Delhi during the Corona transition, then legal action can be taken against them.

    In view of the widespread performance of farmers, the Delhi Metro has made some changes in its timing. Due to this, the metro service from Delhi to Noida, Faridabad, Ghaziabad and Gurugram will be closed till 2 pm.

    To prevent farmers from accumulating, Section-144 has been imposed in many places in BJP-ruled Haryana. Haryana Transport Minister Moolchand Sharma has said that the bus service to Punjab has also been stopped for November 26 and 27. The bus service coming from Chandigarh to Haryana has also been canceled for two days so that farmers from Punjab cannot come to Delhi. Although the convoy of farmers has traveled to Delhi.
