Calling for accountability, Rohini insists that those in leadership must confront hard questions instead of dodging them with ‘illogical diversions, rude behavior, and uncivil language’ toward loyalists. ‘If “he” remains silent, it proves collusion with the conspiracy,’ she added cryptically, fueling speculation about Tejashwi.

The backdrop is Bihar’s volatile political landscape, where RJD eyes a comeback after recent elections. Lalu will preside over the meeting attended by top brass, including legislators and state heads. Tejashwi already shares decision-making powers post-constitutional amendments, but this elevation signals a generational shift—now complicated by sibling discord.

Rohini’s repeated public jabs highlight deepening Yadav family fractures, raising questions about RJD’s unity. The arrested individuals, identified as Munna Kumar (22) and Rahul alias Siddharth (28), are accused of murdering the 19-year-old woman and her husband, Dukhan Shaw (22). The couple, belonging to a backward class, had eloped in June and married against the woman’s family’s wishes, subsequently settling in Gujarat’s Valsad district.

Their disappearance in September prompted Shaw’s brother to file a kidnapping complaint in Gujarat, accusing the woman’s brothers. The case took a complex turn when a body, suspected to be of the woman and showing signs of a bullet wound, was found in Sonbhadra on September 24. Initial identification efforts in surrounding districts and states proved fruitless due to Sonbhadra’s border proximity to four states.

The breakthrough occurred when Gujarat Police contacted Sonbhadra authorities regarding the missing couple. Following leads provided by Gujarat, Sonbhadra police traced the couple’s journey from Gujarat to Mirzapur, Uttar Pradesh, with plans to travel to Bihar. The identification of the deceased woman’s photograph by Shaw’s family, confirmed by Bihar police who verified the family’s opposition to the marriage, was pivotal. Authorities then arrested the two brothers, with efforts ongoing to apprehend Mukesh and Rakesh.

The situation escalated following Rohini’s sharing of a Facebook post that criticized Sanjay Yadav, a close associate of Tejashwi Yadav and a Rajya Sabha MP. The controversy arose when Sanjay Yadav was seen seated in the front row of the bus used by Tejashwi during his Bihar Adhikar Yatra. Rohini’s sharing of the post triggered criticism of Sanjay Yadav within a faction of the RJD. Rohini subsequently shared another post with images of other party leaders sitting in the same seats.

This sparked wider discussions about a potential rift within the Lalu family and whether Rohini might withdraw from the party before the elections.

Rohini further expressed her sentiments on social media, indicating a lack of harmony between the party and the family. She tweeted, “I have fulfilled my duty as a daughter and sister. And I will continue to do so. I have no desire for any position. Nor do I have any political ambition. My self-respect is paramount to me.”

The question remains: who has hurt Rohini’s self-respect? Why is she so upset? Earlier, she had also shared a video on her social media, along with a message: “They have the spirit to make the biggest sacrifices, putting their lives on the line, fearlessness-frankness-self-respect flows in their blood.”

Tej Pratap Yadav, Tejashwi Yadav’s elder brother, also harbors resentment towards Sanjay Yadav. Tej Pratap has called him a ‘traitor,’ and such remarks before the elections suggest that the issue is both familial and political. If the discord continues, the party is likely to suffer the consequences.

In May, RJD supremo Lalu Prasad expelled his elder son for six years, citing a disregard for moral values in his personal life. Following his expulsion, Tej Pratap Yadav has rebelled, announcing his intention to contest as an independent from the Mahua assembly constituency and forming alliances with smaller parties. He has consistently claimed that certain individuals are conspiring against him, attempting to sabotage his political future.

Recently, Tej Pratap Yadav advised Tejashwi to be wary of “traitors.” In a post on X, he warned Tejashwi to be cautious of the people around him, otherwise he would face severe consequences in the elections. He also referenced an incident during a voter rights march where Congress and RJD workers were accused of assaulting a driver and a journalist. With the upcoming assembly elections later this year, Tej Pratap’s public statements are increasing pressure on Tejashwi Yadav. Although his younger brother is the RJD’s chief ministerial face, the elder brother’s rebellion threatens to fragment the Yadav support base and complicate the party’s election campaign.

Tej Pratap Yadav had previously announced on the social media platform X that he would reveal information about the ‘traitors’ within his family. He stated he would disclose the identities of five individuals whom he accused of orchestrating a conspiracy. He claimed these five people were involved in a plot to damage his political career.

Despite the earlier claims, he has since remained silent on the matter. After issuing an ultimatum, no revelations were made. When questioned about the delay, he dismissed the topic, stating he did not wish to comment further and that he was going to Begusarai.

In a post on X, Tej Pratap stated that five members of his family had conspired to undermine his political career. He had vowed to expose these individuals and reveal their characters to the public.

Since being ousted from the family and the party, Tej Pratap has adopted a rebellious tone. He has already decided to contest the next assembly elections from Mahua. Furthermore, he has established his own party, ‘Jan Shakti Janata Dal,’ and applied for its registration with the Election Commission.

Following his social media posts, RJD chief Lalu Yadav removed Tej Pratap from both the party and the family, reportedly due to his association with a woman named Anushka Yadav. Photographs of Tej Pratap Yadav with the woman surfaced, which led to Lalu Yadav’s decision.

In an interview, the elder son of Lalu Yadav hinted that he would like his brother, Tejashwi Yadav, to become the Chief Minister of Bihar after the elections later this year, while he himself prefers to play the role of a kingmaker.

Tej Pratap, who married Aishwarya Rai, the daughter of a former Bihar minister, in 2018, was recently expelled from the RJD after posting a controversial picture on X. The post, which claimed he was with a woman named Anushka Yadav and that they had been in a 12-year relationship, was later deleted. Tej Pratap claimed his account was hacked. Despite this, Lalu Yadav expelled his elder son from the party for six years.

When asked why he is targeted, Tej Pratap stated, “Other people who keep targeting me do so because they know I am the next Lalu Yadav, because my voice is also the same, the same pure, raw mannerisms, the same grounded nature.” He questioned whether his controversies have damaged the RJD’s image, and wondered why he was being targeted specifically, implying there were other people involved.

On the news of his expulsion from the party, Tej Pratap expressed disappointment, suggesting that he was the victim of a conspiracy. When asked about the role his father played in his expulsion, the former Bihar minister stated that his parents, Lalu Yadav and Rabri Devi, are like God to him, and he holds them in high regard.

He added, “My mother is always worried about me. As her elder son, I know she holds me very close to her heart. I don’t want to go into what the circumstances were or were not because it is purely political.”

Regarding his relationship with Tejashwi Yadav, Tej Pratap admitted to some turmoil, but that he’s trying to manage the situation. He said, “I am not interested in breaking relationships. I don’t want to spoil relationships with anyone. I always try to maintain relationships. When you are the elder brother, you have to fulfill the responsibilities of the elder brother.”

On the subject of Tejashwi Yadav becoming Chief Minister, he said, “Tejashwi should become the Chief Minister; he has my full support. I want to play the role of a kingmaker. Some people don’t like that I am connected to the ground; I raise issues that matter to the people without fear. This is what my father used to do, and this is what I, his son, should also do. People in the villages like people connected to the ground.”
