Suzuki’s first all-electric compact SUV, the e-Vitara, has participated in Euro NCAP’s new crash safety testing and received a 4-star rating. The results demonstrate a robust safety package, although some shortcomings were identified. In the frontal offset test, the e-Vitara’s passenger compartment remained stable, and the safety of the front occupants’ knees and thighs was rated as good. Good safety was also observed for all body parts in the side impact test.

However, in the full-width frontal test, the safety of rear passengers’ heads and chests was rated as medium because of forward movement during the impact. Better results were obtained in the rear impact test, with good ratings for whiplash safety on the front and rear seats. The SUV also features an advanced e-Call system and multi-collision braking, enhancing safety.

Maruti Suzuki India has commenced the export of its first battery-electric car, the e-Vitara. This is considered a significant step in the company’s global electric vehicle plan. The first consignment departed from the Pipavav port in Gujarat in August, comprising over 2,900 vehicles. These vehicles were dispatched to 12 European countries, including the UK, Germany, France, Norway, and Sweden.

The e-Vitara is being produced at Maruti Suzuki’s Hansalpur plant in Gujarat. This plant will serve as the global production hub for this model. The car has previously been showcased at events such as the India Mobility Global Expo in Milan, Italy, and New Delhi. This car is built on Suzuki’s new Heartect-e electric platform.

Maruti Suzuki will also launch it in India and plans to export the model to over 100 countries in the coming years. The complete features and specifications for India have not yet been announced. However, the company has confirmed that the car will be available in Delta, Zeta, and Alpha variants and will offer a range of approximately 500 km on a single charge.

Former US President Donald Trump has criticized India’s trade policies, alleging the country imposed high tariffs on American goods. Trump stated India had a one-sided relationship with the US, benefiting greatly while the US saw limited trade in return. He pointed out that India primarily purchases oil and military equipment from Russia, not the United States. Trump noted that India has offered to reduce tariffs now, but claimed that the offer is too late. He asserted that this should have happened years ago.

Maruti Suzuki, the leading car seller in India, recently rolled out its first electric car, the e-Vitara (EV), which is slated for launch in India soon but has already been introduced in several other countries. This ‘Made-in-India’ car is being exported from India to approximately 100 countries, marking a significant achievement in exports. The Maruti Fronx is currently the most popular exported car.

The Maruti Fronx was launched in the Indian market in April 2023. The export of the Fronx commenced in 2023. It holds the distinction of being the first ‘Made in India’ SUV exported by Maruti Suzuki to Japan. These exports to Japan played a crucial role in helping the Fronx become the fastest SUV to reach the milestone of 1 lakh exports. It is also a popular model in countries like Latin America, the Middle East, and Africa. The Maruti Fronx reached this position in just 25 months after its global sales began in June 2023. The car is manufactured at Maruti’s plant in Gujarat.

Maruti Suzuki has initiated the production of its first electric car, the e-Vitara. This marks not only a first for Maruti Suzuki but also for Suzuki Motor Corporation as a whole. Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off the roll-out ceremony of the e-Vitara from Maruti Suzuki’s plant in Gujarat. The company has announced that this electric SUV will be exported to over 100 countries worldwide.

The e-Vitara is expected to launch in India on September 3rd. With this launch, Maruti Suzuki will enter a segment already dominated by companies like Tata Motors, MG, and Mahindra. Although Maruti is entering this segment later, the company aims to become a major player, and the e-Vitara will play a key role in this. This made-in-India SUV will be sent to almost every continent in the world, excluding the Arctic and Antarctica. This step is a major milestone for both the Indian auto industry and the company’s global strategy.

Textile and apparel manufacturers in Tirupur, Noida, and Surat have ceased production just hours after former US President Donald Trump imposed a 25% tariff on Indian exports, bringing the total tariffs to 50%. This significant increase makes Indian products less competitive in the global market. The Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO) reported that the textile sector is struggling against lower-cost rivals from Vietnam and Bangladesh. Additionally, the US market accounts for nearly 40% of Indian seafood exports, with the tariff increase threatening stockpile losses, supply chain disruptions, and distress for farmers. Approximately 55% of goods destined for the US, valued at $47–48 billion, now face a 30–35% pricing disadvantage compared to competitors from China, Vietnam, Cambodia, and other regional economies.

Mahindra is expanding its export operations beyond the Middle East, Australia, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, the Philippines, and Nepal, with the United Kingdom now on its radar. The company is reportedly considering exporting specific variants of the BE.06 and XEV 9e to the UK. Project codes have already been assigned, hinting at active development, potentially involving modified models based on the INGLO platform. With the UK’s aggressive push towards electric vehicles, aiming for 80% of car sales to be EVs by 2035, Mahindra’s new EV range could find a strong foothold. The INGLO platform’s adaptability offers Mahindra a strategic advantage, allowing it to introduce a variety of vehicles rapidly. To succeed, Mahindra will need to meet the UK’s high customer expectations and stringent regulatory standards, and it already operates a design studio in the UK to stay attuned to market demands and government policies.

The locomotive engines manufactured in Marhaura, Saran district, Bihar, are set to operate not just on Indian railways but also worldwide. This marks the first instance of a Bihar-built engine…

The locomotive engines manufactured in Marhaura, Saran district, Bihar, are set to operate not just on Indian railways but also worldwide. This marks the first instance of a Bihar-built engine being exported internationally. This factory, embodying Prime Minister Modi’s ‘Make in India’ vision, is now promoting the mantra of ‘Make in Bihar – Make for the World.’ The engines are destined for Guinea, a West African nation.

This represents a significant achievement for ‘Make in Bihar.’ The Marhaura factory is a joint venture between Wabtec Inc. and Indian Railways, with Wabtec holding a 76% stake and the Railways 24%. The unit commenced operations in 2018 and has produced 729 powerful diesel engines to date, including 545 engines of 4500 HP and 184 engines of 6000 HP. A deal for 140 engines worth approximately 3000 crore was finalized following a recent visit by three ministers from Guinea. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag off the locomotives.

The unit, spread over 226 acres, is named KOMO. As exports increase, the factory is also expanding its production capacity. The plant is poised to become a global locomotive manufacturing hub, significantly increasing its output. Approximately 40-50% of the components are sourced from various Indian states like Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Delhi, and Jamshedpur, while some specialized engine parts are imported from the United States.

According to railway information, 37 locomotives will be exported this fiscal year, 82 in the next, and 31 in the third year. All these locomotives will feature AC cabs. Each locomotive will have a single cab, and two locomotives will be able to haul the weight of 100 wagons at the maximum allowable speed. The Marhaura factory in Bihar directly employs 285 people and indirectly provides employment to 1215 people. In addition, over 2100 people across the country are working for the joint venture for services and other tasks.
