In a major win for India’s export engine, the gems and jewelry trade has erupted in praise for the new India-US trade pact. Leaders from Mumbai and Jaipur see it as a historic breakthrough, poised to revive shipments to America’s lucrative market after tariff-induced slumps.

‘This isn’t just a deal; it’s a lifeline for our exporters,’ said Dinesh Lakhani of Kiran Gems. He noted how US duties crippled 50%+ of India’s gems-jewelry exports destined for the States over the last year. Now, with tariffs reduced to zero, Indian products gain a competitive edge.

American retailers stand to benefit too, sourcing more from India at lower costs. Lakhani underscored India’s strategic trade expansions, including deals with the UK and EU, transforming it into a manufacturing powerhouse en route to 2047 goals. Projections show US-bound exports nearly doubling soon.

Jaipur’s Rajeev Jain, a veteran in the field and ex-GJEPC chairman, echoed the sentiment. ‘We’ve faced brutal high duties before; this relief is huge. Gratitude to PM Modi and the government for prioritizing exporters.’ The US continues dominating as India’s largest gems market.

As the deal takes effect, stakeholders anticipate ripple effects: job creation, supply chain strengthening, and elevated global standing. This pact signals India’s assertive role in reshaping international trade dynamics.

Excitement is palpable among Vapi’s traders as the India-EU Free Trade Agreement takes center stage, offering a strategic pivot from the punishing US tariffs that have plagued exports. Gujarat’s industrial powerhouse, home to thousands of SMEs in diverse sectors, views this as a game-changer.

With chemicals, pharma, textiles, and engineering thriving here, the region’s 10,000-plus units have been hit hard by American protectionism. Now, the EU deal paves the way for new markets, enabling businesses to diversify and recover lost ground.

In an exclusive interview, Dr. Kamal Wasi of Mangalam Drugs revealed how the FTA eliminates barriers for Indian generics in Europe. ‘Our industry, reeling from US tariffs, now sees a positive shift with open access to all EU nations,’ he stated, forecasting rapid business expansion.

Industry leader Shard Thakar described the agreement as unprecedented under PM Modi’s stewardship. ‘It addresses the damages from Trump-era tariffs by unlocking stable European partnerships, ensuring long-term industry resilience,’ he emphasized.

Vapi Industries Association chief Satish Patel went further, labeling it a pivotal ‘mother of all deals’ for multiple sectors. ‘Direct trade with Europe will heal wounds from US losses and accelerate industrial progress toward Viksit Bharat,’ Patel said.

Beyond exports, the pact promises cheaper imports, boosting competitiveness. Analysts predict a ripple effect: heightened investments, skill development, and Vapi’s emergence as an export gateway to Europe, revitalizing the local economy.

The buzz in India’s industry circles is palpable as the India-EU Free Trade Agreement edges closer to reality. Dubbed a ‘game-changer’ by top business bodies, this deal could catapult Indian exports to Europe by $75 billion, spotlighting labor-intensive powerhouses.

Textiles, leather goods, marine products, and jewelry sectors are primed for a $33 billion windfall through prioritized market entry. CII’s Chandrajit Banerjee calls it a strategic triumph, strengthening ties between two democracies that together command a quarter of global GDP.

‘It’s a decisive boost to our edge in premium EU markets,’ Banerjee affirmed. The agreement fuels manufacturer prowess, service sector expansion, and inflows of capital and tech, embedding India firmly in international production networks.

Beyond immediate gains for SMEs and workforce-heavy industries, the FTA crafts mobility frameworks for skilled Indian professionals, fostering inclusive development that mirrors the 2047 Viksit Bharat goal.

Anant Goenka of FICCI labels the EU as the crown jewel among India’s recent FTAs. This vast market unlocks manufacturing booms, value chain synergies, and sharper export edges in premium domains.

PHDCCI’s Dr. Ranjeet Mehta projects explosive growth: 35-45% export uptick to the EU in five years. Pharma exports may climb 8-12% annually, with engineering products like machinery hitting 7-10% through supply chain fusions.

Tariff reductions, investment shields, and GI protections elevate India from bulk exporter to innovation hub. As negotiations advance, this FTA heralds unprecedented economic momentum for India’s global trade ambitions.

In a major boost for Maharashtra’s export ambitions, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has hailed the India-EU Free Trade Agreement as a game-changer. Speaking on Tuesday, he outlined how the state will reap enormous rewards from this pact under PM Modi’s visionary guidance.

Key industries poised for explosive growth include apparel and textiles, engineering products, pharma, chemicals, medical equipment, auto parts, metals, electronics, and jewelry. ‘Expect sharper competition and wider global reach,’ Fadnavis said, adding that farmers will see direct benefits through better market access for agri-exports.

On social media platform X, he described the FTA as the ‘mother of all trade deals,’ connecting India to Europe’s economic powerhouse—27 countries with a quarter of world GDP. This unlocks preferential tariffs for nearly all Indian exports, forecasting a boom in Rs 6.41 lakh crore worth of shipments, particularly labor-heavy sectors like leather goods, marine products, and precious stones.

Agricultural exports and processed foods get a massive fillip, empowering farmers along the value chain. Enhanced mobility provisions open doors for Indian talent worldwide, cementing India’s economic stature.

Fadnavis called it a ‘strategic milestone’ fortifying India’s global identity while elevating Maharashtra’s role in trade-driven progress.

Timing couldn’t be better: Just days after inking Rs 30 lakh crore MoUs at Davos, Maharashtra eyes another Rs 7-10 lakh crore infusion. Deals cover cutting-edge fields from AI and semiconductors to green energy, EVs, fintech, and textiles. Notably, 83% direct FDI, with collaborations from 18 nations including the US, UAE, and Germany.

In a bold move to supercharge exports, the Uttar Pradesh government is building a state-of-the-art Apparel Park spanning 175 acres in YEIDA’s Sector-29. This garment manufacturing cluster is set to revolutionize the region’s industrial landscape, creating a seamless pipeline from production to global markets.

Targeting ready-made apparel for export and domestic sales, the park will accommodate nearly 100 units operating under a shared infrastructure model. Women will find ample job prospects in various roles, aligning with empowerment goals and national self-reliance initiatives like Make in India.

Its prime positioning—directly accessible via Yamuna Expressway and minutes from Noida International Airport—ensures logistics efficiency. Post-airport launch, garment shipments will zip out faster, cutting costs and delivery times, a game-changer for exporters competing in fast-paced international arenas. Proximity to Delhi-NCR adds another layer of advantage.

The park features a comprehensive Common Facility Center with cutting-edge amenities: design and training hubs, testing labs, R&D centers, and marketing aids. SMEs can leverage these without hefty upfront costs, driving down expenses and elevating product quality to global standards.

Employment generation is massive, spanning direct roles in manufacturing and ancillary services like packaging and supply chain management. Indirect benefits will ripple to raw material suppliers and artisans. Shifting from basic production to high-value textiles, UP under Yogi Adityanath is crafting a complete industry ecosystem. This Apparel Park isn’t just infrastructure—it’s a catalyst for sustained economic momentum along the Expressway.

Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia painted a vivid picture of India’s economic future, where infrastructure development and international trade reinforce one another in a powerful feedback loop. Addressing entrepreneurs and policymakers, he argued that strategic investments in roads, ports, and airports are not just building blocks—they’re trade multipliers.

Drawing from real-world examples, Scindia showcased how the UDAN scheme has connected remote regions, boosting local economies and exports. ‘Trade doesn’t thrive in isolation; it needs the backbone of development,’ he remarked, citing a 15% rise in merchandise exports linked to better connectivity.

The speech delved into macroeconomic trends, including India’s climb in the World Bank’s Ease of Doing Business rankings. Scindia credited regulatory reforms for drawing foreign players into manufacturing and services sectors.

He didn’t shy away from challenges, acknowledging supply chain disruptions but positioning India as a resilient alternative. With initiatives like the Gati Shakti National Master Plan, the government aims to integrate 16 ministries for seamless logistics.

Stakeholders reacted positively, with FICCI praising the minister’s holistic approach. As bilateral trade agreements with key partners advance, Scindia’s words resonate: development fuels trade, and trade sustains development.

Looking ahead, Scindia called for public-private partnerships to amplify this synergy, envisioning India as a global trade powerhouse by 2030.

India’s commerce powerhouse, Piyush Goyal, dropped a game-changing update today: the long-awaited free trade pact with the European Union is hurtling toward completion. At an industry event in the capital,…

India’s commerce powerhouse, Piyush Goyal, dropped a game-changing update today: the long-awaited free trade pact with the European Union is hurtling toward completion. At an industry event in the capital, Goyal disclosed that negotiators are tackling the remaining sticking points, with a deal potentially just weeks away.

This breakthrough follows marathon sessions that addressed thorny issues like goods tariffs, services liberalization, and intellectual property rights. The EU, India’s third-largest trading partner, represents a massive opportunity to diversify beyond traditional markets.

Not resting on laurels, Goyal confirmed that trade parleys with America are progressing steadily. ‘We’re building on the momentum from recent Mini Trade Deal talks,’ he noted, pointing to priorities like defense manufacturing, semiconductors, and clean energy cooperation.

Breaking it down, the EU agreement could boost two-way commerce from $120 billion to nearly $200 billion annually. For the US front, India eyes slashing duties on textiles, gems, and leather goods while securing better terms for skilled labor mobility.

Goyal’s optimism stems from India’s strengthened negotiating position, bolstered by robust post-COVID recovery and supply chain shifts favoring ‘China-plus-one’ strategies. He reiterated commitments to labor reforms and environmental compliance to meet EU’s stringent norms.

Industry leaders are buzzing with excitement. ‘This dual-track approach will supercharge exports and FDI inflows,’ said a FICCI spokesperson. As deadlines loom for WTO ministerial meetings, Goyal’s team is working overtime to deliver wins for India’s $3.5 trillion economy.

Looking ahead, the minister hinted at exploring similar pacts with the UK and Australia, underscoring a multi-pronged trade offensive. For businesses eyeing Europe and America, the message is clear: prepare for exponential growth.
