Volkswagen, the German automotive manufacturer, has announced a new naming strategy for its upcoming vehicles. The company will use the same names for its popular ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) cars in its electric ID. series. This means customers will have both petrol/diesel and electric options under the same name, simplifying product selection and recognition. The Volkswagen ID. Polo, initially showcased as the ID. 2all concept, is slated for a global launch in 2026. An ID. Polo GTI variant will also be introduced. The first glimpses of these models will be revealed at the IAA Mobility 2025 in Munich, scheduled from September 8 to 14. The ID. Polo and ID. Polo GTI will feature a stylish and modern design, incorporating colorful camouflage, sporty alloy wheels, prominent wheel arches, customized bumpers, a front diffuser, and a split spoiler on the tailgate. Built on the MEB Entry platform, the car will have dimensions of 4,053mm in length, 1,816mm in width, and 1,530mm in height. While specific engine details haven’t been fully disclosed, reports suggest a single electric motor with a front-wheel-drive (FWD) system, potentially delivering up to 223bhp. Volkswagen may also introduce a Club Sport performance version later. Furthermore, Volkswagen plans to unveil the ID. CROSS concept on September 7, 2025, an electric version of its renowned SUV, the T-Cross, with a market launch anticipated by the end of 2026. The new ID. series cars will offer high-quality materials, soft-touch surfaces, a combination of digital and physical controls, and a user-friendly operating system.
