A new era of digital efficiency dawned in Indian aviation with the DGCA’s launch of Electronic Personnel License (EPL) for Airline Transport Pilot Licenses (ATPL). The ceremony at DGCA’s New Delhi headquarters on Wednesday signals accelerated modernization in pilot licensing.

Officials described the EPL as a robust, ICAO-compliant digital document fortified against forgery with advanced security protocols. It promises real-time verification and eliminates paperwork hassles, accessible directly via the user-friendly eGCA app.

Building on the February 2025 debut of EPL for CPL and FRTOL, this ATPL expansion aims to boost operational transparency and speed up credential management for commercial aviation professionals.

Meanwhile, DGCA’s regulatory hammer fell hard on IndiGo last month over December 2025 disruptions. The airline’s cancellation of 2,507 flights and delays to 1,852 between December 3-5 left more than 300,000 travelers in limbo, sparking widespread outrage.

Breaking down the Rs 222 million penalty: Rs 18 million lump sum for rule breaches, and Rs 30 million daily fines for 68 days of ignoring updated flight duty limits, amounting to Rs 204 million extra. Such measures highlight DGCA’s focus on accountability as India’s skies get busier.

The English Premier League (EPL), established in 1992, represents the pinnacle of professional football in England, succeeding the First Division. The league has since evolved into one of the most renowned football competitions globally. The 2025-26 season commenced on August 15, 2025, with the inaugural match between Liverpool and Bournemouth, and is slated to conclude on May 24, 2026. Fans worldwide can access live streaming and telecasts through various OTT platforms. Twenty clubs participate in the EPL each season, engaging in home and away matches. Each team plays 38 matches, totaling 380 games throughout the season. Points are awarded based on match outcomes: three points for a win, one for a draw, and none for a loss. The team accumulating the most points is crowned the English Premier League champion. The top four teams qualify for the UEFA Champions League, with the top three entering the group stage and the fourth team entering the playoffs. The fifth-placed team secures a spot in the UEFA Europa League, while the sixth and seventh-placed teams participate in the UEFA Europa Conference League. Manchester United and Liverpool are the most successful teams, each with 20 titles. Arsenal follows with 13 wins, and Manchester City has secured 10 titles. Liverpool FC currently holds the title, ending Manchester City’s four-year reign last season. In India, the EPL matches are broadcast live on Star Sports Select HD 1, with live streaming available on JioHotstar.
