  • Eminem makes history by breaking record for most Gold, Platinum singles

    WASHINGTON: American rapper and songwriter Eminem has made history by becoming the Recording Industry Association of America’s (RIAA) new King of Gold and Platinum Singles.

    According to Deadline, RIAA revealed that the rapper has now become the No 1 awarded act for singles in the 64-year history of the Gold and Platinum program.

    Thanks to 73.5 million new certifications, the Oscar winner’s career haul currently sits at 227.5 million, which consists of 166 million single certifications and 61.5 million album certifications, reported the outlet.

    He has also become one of only seven artists with three or more Diamond-certified albums for sales of at least 10 million units in the U.S.

    Eminem broke out in 1999 with his second album ‘The Real Slim Shady’, which featured the classic single ‘My Name Is’, then hit the stratosphere with his 2000 follow-up ‘The Marshall Mathers LP’.

    Recently, he was part of the historic Super Bowl Halftime Show that also featured Dr Dre, Snoop Dogg, Mary J Blige and Kendrick Lamar. 

  • Eminem’s ex-wife Kim Scott hospitalised after suicide attempt

    WASHINGTON: American rapper Eminem’s ex-wife, Kim Scott, was admitted into a hospital following an alleged suicide attempt last month.

    As per a TMZ report on Wednesday, law enforcement and emergency responders received a call of a suicidal person at Scott’s home in Michigan on July 30. When they arrived, she allegedly became combative with personnel who were checking her vital signs and reportedly needed to be restrained by police.

    Paramedics were unable to check her vitals, the outlet reported.

    Scott allegedly cut herself as she had small lacerations on her legs and a fair amount of blood had spilled onto the floor. Authorities reportedly rushed her to the hospital for medical and psychological evaluation, but she has since returned home to recover.

    The alleged incident occurred just one week after Scott’s mother, Kathleen Sluck, died on July 23 at the age of 65. A funeral for Sluck took place at Lee-Ellena Funeral Home on July 29. Scott’s sister, Dawn Scott, died in 2016 of a suspected heroin overdose at age 41.

    Scott and Eminem – real name Marshall Mathers – were high school sweethearts and married from 1999 until their divorce in 2001.

    They remarried on January 14, 2006, and he filed for divorce a short time later on April 5. The duo has a 25-year-old daughter named Hailie Jade.

  • Rapper​ Dr Dre ‘doing great’ after hospitalisation

    LOS ANGELES: Rapper and recording producer Dr Dre suffered an apparent brain aneurysm and he said he is getting “excellent” medical care at a hospital here.

    The 55-year-old music mogul, who is receiving treatment at Los Angeles’ Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, also thanked well-wishers and friends for their prayers.

    “Thanks to my family, friends and fans for their interest and well wishes. I’m doing great and getting excellent care from my medical team.

    “I will be out of the hospital and back home soon. Shout out to all the great medical professionals at Cedars. One Love!!” Dre said in a statement issued by his team on Tuesday.

    The rapper and producer, whose real name is Andre Young, was reportedly rushed by ambulance to the medical centre’s intensive care unit on Monday.

    A multiple Grammy winner, Dre is regarded as one of the top earners in hip-hop.

    Eminem has been one of his longtime collaborators, with his most recent credits on the rapper’s 2020 album ‘Music To Be Murdered By – Side B’, where Dre raps on “Guns Blazing” and also served as a co-producer for another track.

    Dre’s collaborators also include the likes of Gwen Stefani, Mary J Blige, Snoop Dogg and 50 Cent, among others.

    He is also the former co-owner of Death Row Records and co-founder of the hip hop group NWA also produced the 2015 NWA biopic “Straight Outta Compton”.

    Dre is currently in divorce proceedings from his wife Nicole Young after 24 years of marriage.

    A hearing on spousal support and their prenuptial support had been set for Wednesday.
