A harrowing suicide at Jamshedpur’s premier MGM Medical College Hospital has claimed the life of 25-year-old Arshad Alam, who plummeted from the fourth floor while undergoing treatment for addiction-related ailments. The pre-dawn mishap on Friday has ignited widespread alarm and scrutiny over patient safety at the facility.

Admitted three days prior to the Medicine ward, Arshad’s condition stemmed from prolonged substance abuse, as confirmed by grieving relatives. In the quiet hours of early morning around 4-5 AM, he excused himself from his bed, citing a need for the bathroom, only to meet a fatal end shortly after.

The alarming crash alerted his mother and on-duty personnel, who found him sprawled in grave condition below the towering structure. Despite immediate transfer to emergency services, medical efforts proved futile, and he was declared deceased.

Law enforcement swiftly responded, taking custody of the remains for autopsy and launching a thorough probe. While evidence suggests self-inflicted harm, no stone is being left unturned in the inquiry.

The episode exposes glaring vulnerabilities in the hospital’s infrastructure and oversight. How did an ailing patient navigate to such perilous heights without intervention? Police are delving into CCTV records and grilling administrators on vigilance protocols.

As the family weeps inconsolably, the neighborhood reels from the sorrowful news. This tragedy underscores the intertwined crises of addiction, mental distress, and institutional shortcomings, demanding immediate reforms to prevent future calamities.

President Droupadi Murmu’s visit to Manipal Tata Medical College in Baridih turned into an impromptu public outreach, captivating locals in East Singhbhum. After inaugurating the land puja for Kadma’s Sri Jagannath Spiritual and Cultural Centre, she arrived at the college for a special student interaction program.

During the event, she honored academically brilliant students with photos and personal dialogues, toured the facilities, and participated in a tree-planting drive. But the highlight unfolded post-event: spotting a massive crowd lining the streets, the President stopped her motorcade, alighted, and strode into the masses for about 150 meters, accepting greetings with a smile.

The atmosphere was electric. Women and children led the cheers, tricolors fluttering high as slogans echoed. President Murmu reciprocated the love by handing out chocolates to kids, creating indelible memories. A thrilled child shared her joy at receiving the gift directly from the President’s hands. Parvinder Kaur, who endured hours in the sun, called the moment unforgettable, especially when the President blessed her daughter.

Tight security protocols prevented any chaos, allowing safe proximity to the leader. S. Kumar Singh, a resident, voiced the community’s surprise and honor at hosting the President. Her route from Kadma wound through key local roads, building anticipation.

Looking ahead, the college envisions a ‘Droupadi Murmu Sports and Food Campus’ to promote comprehensive education, integrating sports and nutrition into the medical curriculum. This visit not only boosted student morale but also exemplified the President’s commitment to grassroots connection in tribal heartlands.

A shocking incident occurred at Tatanagar Railway Station’s outer gate on Saturday when a car parked in the vicinity suddenly burst into flames. The fire rapidly intensified, engulfing the entire vehicle. Onlookers attempted to control the blaze, but its ferocity necessitated an immediate call to the fire department. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the dramatic event. The car’s owner, Srinivas Nayak, a resident of Gamharia, had arrived at the station with his family to see off his son on the Duronto Express. He parked his Hyundai car near the outer gate and proceeded towards the platform. Smoke was observed emanating from the vehicle shortly after, followed by towering flames. Bystanders made initial efforts to extinguish the fire with buckets of water, but the blaze spread uncontrollably, leaving the car completely destroyed. Firefighters arrived promptly and, after a significant effort, managed to bring the inferno under control. Mr. Nayak stated he was alerted to the fire while inside the station. Upon emerging, he discovered his vehicle completely consumed by flames. He suspects a short circuit may have been the cause, though investigations are ongoing to determine the precise circumstances.

A shocking discovery was made in Chakulia police station area of East Singhbhum district on Sunday morning, sending ripples of fear through the community. The body of Sunil Kumar Mahto, a resident of Purana Bazar, was found near the cow shelter of Dhyan Foundation at the airstrip. Authorities have now launched an intensive investigation into the incident.

Dr. Shalini Mishra, director of Dhyan Foundation, was the first to discover the body while on her morning walk towards the cow shelter. She immediately alerted the Chakulia police. Upon receiving the information, Inspector Manoj Kumar Gupta and Station House Officer Santosh Kumar arrived at the scene with a police team, cordoned off the area, and commenced their inquiry.

Initial findings at the crime scene include a mineral water bottle, snacks served on a leaf plate, and empty liquor bottles. This evidence strongly suggests that alcohol was consumed prior to the alleged murder. The Station House Officer confirmed that the deceased, Sunil Kumar Mahto, sustained clear injuries to his head, indicative of an attack with a sharp weapon or a heavy object, confirming it as a homicide. Police are currently canvassing the surrounding areas and investigating multiple angles to determine the motive behind the killing.

In preparation for the upcoming Ghatsila Assembly by-election in East Singhbhum district, local authorities have announced temporary traffic restrictions to ensure the safe transport of polling materials and manage vehicular…

In preparation for the upcoming Ghatsila Assembly by-election in East Singhbhum district, local authorities have announced temporary traffic restrictions to ensure the safe transport of polling materials and manage vehicular flow. Heavy vehicle movement within the city will be completely prohibited on November 10th and 11th. This crucial measure aims to facilitate the smooth conduct of the electoral process.

The administrative order specifies that from 4:30 AM to 11:30 AM on November 10th, and again from 4:30 PM to 11:30 PM on November 11th, no heavy vehicles will be permitted to enter or exit the city limits. During these periods, only smaller vehicles and those associated with essential services will be allowed on the roads. This strategic traffic management is designed to prevent any disruptions.

The Traffic DSP highlighted that this arrangement is primarily to guarantee the unimpeded and secure transit of all election materials. He added that a special deployment of police personnel will be in place to prevent any congestion or disorder during the critical election period, ensuring a secure environment for voters and staff.

Residents are urged to cooperate with these directives and avoid unnecessary travel with heavy vehicles. Authorities have issued a stern warning that strict action will be taken against anyone violating these traffic regulations. The traffic control room will remain on high alert to respond swiftly to any emergencies and ensure no obstacles hinder the election proceedings.
