  • Makers of ‘Black Adam’ cast young actor Bodhi Sabongui in key role

    LOS ANGELES: Up-and-coming actor Bodhi Sabongui has been roped in by the makers of New Line and DC’s much-anticipated superhero movie “Black Adam”. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sabongui (13), will play a key role in the Dwayne Johnson-led action adventure movie.

    The Canadian-American actor of Egyptian heritage, has previously worked in The CW’s “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow”, ABC show “A Million Little Things” and Netflix series “The Babysitters Club”. “Black Adam” is a spin-off from Warner Bros and New Line Cinema’s “Shazam!”, featuring Zachary Levi.

    The character first appeared in DC Comics in the 1940s as a villain corrupted by power. He became an anti-hero in the early 2000s. Jaume Collet-Serra, who has directed Johnson in the upcoming “Jungle Cruise”, will helm “Black Adam”.

    The movie also features actors Aldis Hodge as Hawkman, Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher, Quintessa Swindell as Cyclone, and Pierce Brosnan as Dr Fate. Rory Haines and Sohrab Noshirvani have penned the latest draft of the script, from a previous draft by Adam Sztykiel.

    Johnson is also producing the movie with Dany Garcia and Hiram Garcia via their Seven Bucks Productions, and Beau Flynn through FlynnPictureCo.

    LOS ANGELES: Hollywood star Dwayne Johnson’s “Black Adam” is slated to be released on July 29, 2022. Johnson shared the date on Instagram, along with a video of his voiceover blaring in Times Square.

    “A disruptive and unstoppable global force of a message from the man in black himself.  BLACK ADAM is coming July 29, 2022. The hierarchy of power in the DC universe is about to change,” the 48-year-old actor wrote on Sunday.

    “Black Adam” is a spin-off from Warner Bros and New Line Cinema’s “Shazam!”, featuring Zachary Levi. The character first appeared in DC Comics in the 1940s as a villain corrupted by power. He became an anti-hero in the early 2000s.

  • News for DC fans, Pierce Brosnan boards Dwayne Johnson-starrer ‘Black Adam’

    LOS ANGELES: Former James Bond star Pierce Brosnan is the latest addition to the cast of Dwayne Johnson’s “Black Adam” movie.

    The antihero film is a spin-off to Warner Bros and New Line Cinema’s “Shazam!” that featured actor Zachary Levi.

    Johnson is playing the titular part in the movie, which will be directed by his “Jungle Cruise” director Jaume Collet-Serra.

    Brosnan, 67, has been cast in the role of Dr Fate, a member of Justice Society, Johnson said in a post on Instagram.

    “Mr @PierceBrosnanOfficial as the iconic and all knowing DR.FATE. I’m grateful to have such a talented, diverse and hungry cast. The hierarchy of power in the DC Universe is about to change…” the actor said.

    The movie will also feature Aldis Hodge as Hawkman, Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher, and Quintessa Swindell as Cyclone.

  • Dwayne Johnson reveals his ‘very strict’ diet as he trains for new film

    WASHINGTON: Actor Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, who loves binging on his favourite food once in a while, recently gave fans a glimpse of the ‘strict diet’ he is on for his upcoming film ‘Black Adam’.

    The 48-year-old actor recently shared a video on Instagram, where he revealed what he eats for breakfast as he prepares for his role in the forthcoming film.

    Addressing viewers watching the clip, which was taken in Hawaii, Johnson said that the role requires “strength, conditioning, character and story study,” but also a well-planned diet, which he described as “the most important thing.”

    According to Johnson, breakfast for him includes whole eggs and egg whites, beef tenderloin, oatmeal, and blueberries, as well as gluten-free Ezekiel English muffins with Smart Balance butter, Stevia and cinnamon added for extra sweetness. The ‘Jumanji’ star also pairs the meal with powdered greens and fiber drink on the side, as well as a can of his own ZOA Energy Drink.

    Johnson concluded his clip by thanking fans for their excitement over his upcoming role, which has been delayed due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

    “This prep has been a long one (since 2020) but all the pieces are coming together and as always, I’m staying flexible to any changes and pivots that need to happen along the way,” Johnson wrote alongside the clip on Instagram.

    “Script, production, strength & conditioning, diet etc etc,” he added.

    As per People magazine, ‘Black Adam’ which is set to premiere in December 2021, is a spinoff of the 2019 film ‘Shazam!’. Johnson was initially going to play Black Adam in that movie, but it never came to fruition, according to Deadline.

    Johnson first confirmed the action film’s release date in November 2019, penning a touching Instagram post explaining what the starring role in ‘Black Adam’ means to him.

    Following his peek behind the curtain at what he eats for breakfast to train for the DC superhero film, Johnson also shared a follow-up post a day later, where he documented one of his famous “cheat meals.”

    Sharing a video from the same spot, Johnson revealed that he was indulging in some coconut banana pancakes with peanut butter and strawberry jelly smothered on top of them.

    “My friends, enjoy your cheat meal Sundays with your family, with your friends, your loved ones. We work hard through the week, you wanna play hard on the weekends,” Johnson said in the clip.

    LOS ANGELES: “The Old Guard” star Marwan Kenzari is in negotiations to board Dwayne Johnson-led antihero movie “Black Adam”.

    The film is a spin-off to Warner Bros and New Line Cinema’s “Shazam!” that featured actor Zachary Levi as the titular superhero.

    If finalised, Kenzari will join Johnson, Noah Centineo, Aldis Hodge and Quintessa Swindell in the cast, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

    Jaume Collet-Serra, who also directed Johnson opposite Emily Blunt in Disney’s upcoming “Jungle Cruise”, is attached to helm the new film.

    Kenzari broke out after featuring as Jafar in Disney’s 2019 live-action movie “Aladdin”.

    His film credits also include Tom Cruise-starrer “The Mummy” and Kenneth Branagh’s “Murder on the Orient Express”.

    The actor most recently starred in Netflix hit “The Old Guard”, alongside Charlize Theron, KiKi Layne, Matthias Schoenaerts and Chiwetel Ejiofor.

    WASHINGTON: Hollywood actor and former pro-wrestler Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has said that he is still considering running for president of the United States.

    According to Fox News, the ‘Fast and Furious ‘ star said, “I would consider a presidential run in the future if that’s what the people wanted. Truly I mean that, and I’m not flippant in any way with my answer. That would be up to the people… So I would wait, and I would listen. I would have my finger on the pulse, my ear to the ground.”

    Johnson has spoken about his interest in politics for a handful of years, noting that he has strongly considered it in the past. During a 2017 appearance on ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show’, the star said that he was “seriously considering” a run for president.

    Despite having years’ worth of projects lined up in Hollywood, the star still hasn’t ruled out one day vying for the Oval Office.

    The former professional wrestler is currently out promoting his new series, ‘Young Rock’, which premieres on February 16th on NBC.
