  • Vin Diesel talks about reported feud with Dwayne Johnson

    By IANS
LOS ANGELES: Vin Diesel has spoken out about the reported feud between him and Dwayne Johnson.

The subject came to light in the July/August 2021 issue of Men’s Health magazine, where Diesel opened up about Johnson’s involvement in the “Fast & Furious” franchise, reports aceshowbiz.com.

He said: “It was a tough character to embody, the Hobbs character (the role played by Johnson). My approach at the time was a lot of tough love to assist in getting that performance where it needed to be.”

The actor added that it took “a lot of work” to bring out the unexpected character of Hobbs, as the audience came in with expectations and assumptions about Johnson.

“As a producer to say, ‘OK, we’re going to take Dwayne Johnson, who’s associated with wrestling, and we’re going to force this cinematic world, audience members, to regard his character as someone that they don’t know’ — Hobbs hits you like a ton of bricks,” Diesel said.

He added: “That took a lot of work. We had to get there and sometimes, at that time, I could give a lot of tough love.”

Of his conversations with Johnson, he shared: “Not Felliniesque, but I would do anything I’d have to do in order to get performances in anything I’m producing.”

He went on to claim that he is “proud” of the aesthetic they created for Hobbs.

Diesel said: “That’s something that I’m proud of, that aesthetic.”

Reports of the pair’s feud first emerged in 2016 when they filmed the eighth movie of the franchise, “The Fate Of The Furious”. During the last week of filming, Johnson wrote in a deleted Instagram post that some people on set “conduct themselves as stand-up men and true professionals, while others don’t.”

“The ones that don’t are too chicken s**t to do anything about it anyway. Candy a**es. When you watch this movie next April and it seems like I’m not acting in some of these scenes and my blood is legit boiling — you’re right,” his post read.

As per People magazine, the ‘Aquaman’ star appeared virtually on ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’ on Thursday, where he spoke about his longtime friendship with Johnson.

The two actors have been pals for almost 20 years after meeting in Hawaii through a mutual friend, and during the interview, Momoa expressed his hopes that they will be able to make a movie together when the time is right.

“We tried to get together and make a movie together but it’s just he’s way busier than I am and I’m pretty busy right now so, one of these days!” he said.

Host Jimmy Fallon excitedly replied, “You HAVE to make a movie together!” before Momoa joked that it’s definitely possible because Johnson actually owes him a favour.

“We will! And it’s really cool because now he’s kind of in my pocket so I can call him up and be like, ‘Yo!’ and I got him,” the star said.

In April, Momoa helped Johnson celebrate his daughter Tiana Gia’s third birthday by sending a personalised video message from ‘Aquaman’, one of her favourite superheroes.

“I’m sorry I couldn’t be there but I love you and tell your papa that I love him too,” Momoa said in the celebratory video.

“I’ll see you soon, happy third birthday. Bye Jazzy, bye Tia, love you,” he added.

The ‘Jungle Cruise’ star filmed the sweet moment his daughters Tiana and Jasmine, both of whom he shares with wife Lauren Hashian, were glued to the television screen and called the birthday girl’s reaction “priceless.”

“I had to make the call…it’s what daddy’s do,” Johnson captioned the clip. “I can’t thank my brother @prideofgypsies enough for making this adoring 3yr old’s birthday the best EVER. Her reaction is priceless and what it’s all about.”

Momoa commented on the video, writing it was an “honour” to wish Tiana a happy birthday.

In other news, the ‘Game of Thrones’ alum is preparing to star in a new Discovery docuseries called ‘On the Roam’. The show will follow Momoa as he sets out in search of artists and dreamers who have mastered their individual crafts.

    By IANS
LOS ANGELES: Dwayne Johnson’s personal strength and fitness coach Dave Rienzi says the Hollywood superstar never needs to take drastic measures or over-stress his body to obtain a certain look.

“We hold his conditioning in a very tight window to allow him to be ‘scene ready’ at any moment. Keeping him at striking distance ensures that we never need to take drastic measures to obtain a certain look, or over-stress his body. The bottom line is that he always needs to be able to perform at his best on screen,” said Rienzi, according to femalefirst.co.uk.

Johnson’s comments come in response to a poll suggesting that almost half of the Americans would be keen to see him launch a presidential bid.

In a post to Instagram, the WWE wrestler-turned-actor shared an article featuring the quote: “At least 46 percent of Americans would support a presidential run from Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson”.

The poll, from market cube platform Piplsay, asked 30,138 individuals their opinion on which celebrities they would like to see as president; with Johnson polling well as the future contender for White House.
