Dhanbad’s critical Gaya Pul Underpass is undergoing a significant expansion project aimed at alleviating long-standing traffic congestion. Officials recently conducted a thorough inspection of the ongoing widening work. The project, once completed, is expected to provide a permanent solution to a decades-old problem for Dhanbad residents, effectively serving as the city’s lifeline.

The ambitious target for project completion is December 2026. However, authorities are pushing to accelerate the pace of work, aiming to finish well ahead of schedule. This complex undertaking requires the coordinated efforts of multiple government departments, including water supply, electricity, road construction, the municipal corporation, railways, and BSNL. The strategic location of the underpass, situated beneath vital express train routes connecting major cities like New Delhi, Mumbai, Gandhidham, and Pathankot, adds to the project’s complexity and importance.

During the inspection, all relevant department officials were present to ensure seamless collaboration. Directives were issued to ensure timely completion of their respective tasks, preventing any delays or impediments to the underpass widening. A forward-thinking proposal for a utility corridor, to accommodate water pipes, sewage lines, gas pipelines, and future infrastructure, was also discussed to ensure long-term efficiency and ease of maintenance.

The primary road construction of the ambitious Ganga Expressway project has been finalized. Complementary elements such as service roads, toll plazas, landscaping, informational displays, street lighting, and the installation of cameras at one-kilometer intervals are either finished or nearing completion. While rainfall temporarily disrupted the construction of service lanes, work has since recommenced.

During a Saturday inspection, Prayagraj District Magistrate Manish Kumar Verma mandated the completion of all remaining works by November 2, 2025. Spanning 594 kilometers from Meerut to Prayagraj, this expressway will improve connectivity between eastern and western Uttar Pradesh. The project, costing approximately Rs 36,000 crore, will serve 12 districts within the state.

DM Verma conducted a site assessment at the expressway’s commencement point in Judhapur Dandu village, Prayagraj, and reviewed the physical progress, traffic management strategies, and roadmaps. Construction officials reported the project’s division into four groups, with Group 4 covering 15.2 kilometers in Prayagraj district. The expressway is being constructed with six lanes, with the core infrastructure engineered for eight lanes to accommodate future expansion.

As Bihar gears up for assembly elections, the Election Commission is conducting a thorough review of voter rolls. Despite some tension between political parties and the EC, the commission maintains…

As Bihar gears up for assembly elections, the Election Commission is conducting a thorough review of voter rolls. Despite some tension between political parties and the EC, the commission maintains it is adhering to the guidelines established on June 24, 2025. A key concern among voters revolves around the documents required to ensure their names remain on the list. The EC has clarified that individuals must complete the voter enumeration form and submit necessary documents by July 25, 2025. Even without initial document submission, all completed forms will be included in the draft voter list scheduled for release on August 1, 2025. Submission of documents is encouraged but can be done later. The process falls under Article 326 of the Constitution. While at least one of the 11 approved documents is mandatory, those unable to provide documents can have their case reviewed by the Electoral Registration Officer after September 1. The ERO has sole authority to add or remove names. Decisions by the ERO can be appealed to the District Magistrate and, if necessary, to the Chief Election Officer. Forms have been distributed to over 97% of the state’s voters.
