  • Rattled by the trailer of “The Accidental Prime Minister”, Congress party now wants to censor the film

The trailer of the film “The Accidental Prime Minister” has taken the nation by storm and like the makers had promised, some of the inside stories will definitely be revealed on 11th January 2019, which is the film’s release date.

The lead role in the film is played by veteran actor Anupam Kher and he looks promising in the role of former PM Manmohan Singh. Actor Akshaye Khanna plays political analyst Sanjaya Baru, who was also the former PM’s media adviser. The film is based on the book titled “The Accidental Prime Minister” which was written by Sanjaya Baru and released on April 2014.

Below are few of the stunning dialogues:

Akshaye Khanna as Sanjaya Baru: 100 crore ke abaadi wale iss desh ko ye ginne chunne log chalate hain (A handful of people run this country with a population of millions)
Sanjaya Baru: PM ke liye kaam karta hoo, party ke liye nahin (I work for the prime minister, not for the political party.)
Random party worker: Par PM toh party ke liye kaam karte hai, Baru (But the prime minister works for the party, Baru)
As expected the trailer has rattled the Congress party and now the Youth Congress wants to censor the movie “The Accidental Prime Minister” and has even threatened to stop the film.

In a letter written to the producers the film, the Youth Congress has said “It is understood that you produced the subject mentioned movie and is related to the life and tenure of Respected Manmohan Singh Ji as Prime Minister of India”.

It added “Looking at the trailer of the movie it is understood that facts have been played with and presented in incorrect manner with regards to the Ex-Prime Minister Resp. Manmohan Singh ji, UPA Chairperson Resp. Sonia Gandhi Ji and Congress Party to malign the image of Congress Party which is not acceptable to us”.

This is the century old Congress party’s support to freedom of expression in India. Even in the past, it had objected Madhur Bandarkar’s film “Indu Sarkar” that exposed the atrocities carried out by Indira Gandhi during Emergency period.
