Delhi’s assembly politics heated up as an AAP heavyweight demanded the ouster of BJP’s firebrand MLA Kapil Mishra. Citing multiple breaches of conduct, the AAP figure urged authorities to revoke Mishra’s legislative privileges without delay.

During a fiery address to party workers, the AAP leader laid out a dossier of grievances against Mishra. From allegedly provocative statements targeting AAP government initiatives to neglecting Model Town constituency development, the charges paint a picture of an MLA more focused on confrontation than service.

Mishra rose to prominence through his outspoken criticism of AAP’s handling of crises like the 2020 Delhi riots and COVID-19 management. Yet, detractors argue his approach has veered into hate speech territory, warranting strict action. ‘Elected representatives must uphold dignity, not incite division,’ the AAP leader emphasized.

BJP leaders dismissed the demand as a desperate ploy by AAP to divert attention from its own failures in delivering promises on healthcare, education, and infrastructure. They rallied behind Mishra, calling him a ‘fearless voice for Delhiites.’

Under the Constitution’s 10th Schedule, disqualification remains a complex process requiring Speaker’s nod and often Supreme Court oversight. Past attempts to disqualify MLAs have yielded mixed results, prolonging disputes.

This standoff highlights AAP’s aggressive posturing against BJP ahead of municipal polls. With Arvind Kejriwal’s administration facing scrutiny, targeting high-profile opponents like Mishra serves dual purposes: neutralizing critics and energizing cadres.

As petitions circulate and media buzz grows, Mishra’s political future hangs in balance. The episode reflects Delhi’s cutthroat electoral battles, where loyalty and ideology clash daily.
