India has signaled its intent to bolster ties with Bangladesh’s freshly minted government led by Tarique Rahman, with plans for in-depth talks covering every dimension of their partnership. This comes after the BNP leader’s swearing-in as Prime Minister following a resounding electoral triumph.

In a Friday briefing, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal noted PM Modi’s prompt felicitations post-elections. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla’s attendance at the Dhaka ceremony underscored New Delhi’s commitment, where he presented PM Modi’s message and engaged in key discussions.

Jaiswal emphasized the enduring, cordial bonds between the neighbors. ‘Our multidimensional relations will be further fortified through engagements with the new leadership, touching on visas and beyond,’ he affirmed. Birla’s X post reinforced India’s readiness to aid Bangladesh’s democratic and inclusive growth.

The high-level interactions included warm felicitations, an India visit invite, and shared visions for public welfare. Echoing this, High Commissioner Riaz Hamidullah revealed Tarique Rahman’s goodwill message to PM Modi and pledges for collaborative, citizen-focused initiatives.

With Tarique Rahman at the helm as the 11th PM, India anticipates a renewed chapter in bilateral engagement. Historical ties, economic interdependence, and strategic alignment position both countries for fruitful dialogue amid evolving South Asian dynamics.
