  • AAP Minister Atishi Hospitalised During Hunger Strike Over Delhi’s Water Crisis |

Delhi Water Minister Atishi was admitted to the hospital early Tuesday after her health deteriorated as a result of her indefinite fast to demand water for the national capital during the ongoing crisis, according to the ruling Aam Aadmi Party. In a post on ‘X’, the party informed that the minister has been admitted to the Lok Nayak Hospital’s emergency ICU. Atishi started her hunger strike on June 21.

“Water Minister Atishi’s health deteriorates. Her blood sugar level dropped to 43 at midnight and to 36 at 3 AM, after which LNJP Hospital doctors advised immediate hospitalization. She has not eaten anything for the last five days and is on an indefinite hunger strike demanding Haryana government to release Delhi’s share of water. She’s been admitted in the emergency ICU at LNJP. We pray for her speedy recovery,” Aam Aadmi Party said in a X post.

Atishi claims that Delhi has received 100 MGD less in the last three weeks. She stated that the 100 MGD reduction in water has resulted in a shortage affecting 28 lakh people in Delhi. Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena stated after meeting with a delegation of AAP leaders on Sunday that Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has assured him that his state will look into providing additional water to the city.

After inspecting the pipeline, Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Lokendra Sirohi said, “There is no leakage here. • Delhi Water Shortage: Atishi Urges Delhi Police Commissioner To Protect Major Pipelines |

New Delhi: As Delhi is suffering from a water crisis, AAP leader and Delhi  Minister Atishi Marlena wrote a letter to the Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora and urged him to deploy the police personnel across the major pipelines of the national capital to protect it from miscreants.

In the letter to the commissioner, She requested police personnel to patrol and protect major pipelines for the next 15 days.

“To stop miscreants or people with ulterior motives from tampering with water pipelines which have now become Delhi’s lifelines. At this juncture, any foul play and sabotage will worsen the already difficult water shortage being faced by the people of Delhi,” said in the letter, ANI reported.

She said that the Delhi Jal Board has patrolling teams for the main water distribution network which carries raw water to the Water Treatment Plants (WTPs).

Atishi added that the ground patrolling team found damaged water supply pipelines in places like South Delhi Rising Mains which carries water from Sonia Vihar WTP to South Delhi.

“This was near the DTL substation in Garhi Medhu. Our patrolling team found that several large 375 mm bolts and one 12-inch bolt had been cut from the pipeline, causing the leakage- The fact that several large bolts had been cut seems to indicate foul play and sabotage,” she said in a letter.

Atishi further mentioned that the maintenance team worked for six hours to fix the leakage issue, worsening the water shortage in South Delhi.

“Our maintenance team worked for six hours continuously and repaired the leakage, but this meant that we had to stop pumping water for 6 hours and 20 MGD of water was not pumped during this time. As a consequence, a further 25 per cent of water shortage will be experienced in South Delhi,” the letter read.

  • Delhi Water Crisis: AAP accuses Haryana’s BJP govt of negative politics, stopping its water supply – The Economic Times Video

New Delhi: Speaking on the Delhi water crisis, AAP National Spokesperson Priyanka Kakkar on June 10 alleged that BJP-led Haryana govt is stopping water for Delhi coming from Himachal Pradesh and also stopping our water from another channel. “On 31st May, Delhi Govt went to Supreme Court and told that before reaching SC, it was found that Himachal Pradesh govt has 137 cusecs of additional drinking water and it is ready to give it to Delhi. So in the Supreme Court, we only demanded that Haryana should let this water come to Delhi… Supreme Court said that Himachal Pradesh is ready to give 137 cusecs of additional water to Delhi and that BJP’s Haryana government should let this water reach Delhi without any obstruction,” said Priyanka Kakkar.
