  • Third eye: Copyright on guarantees, experiencing choppy ride, and specific to region

Copyright on GuaranteesWith AAP pitting ‘Kejriwal ki guarantee’ against ‘Modi ki guarantee’, ‘Congress ki guarantee’ is caught between the two. Congress believes that the patent for coining pre-poll ‘guarantees’ rests with it as it first chanted the mantra during Karnataka elections and then in Telangana polls. Congress spokespersons maintain that BJP and PM aped the party’s word play by coining ‘Modi ki guarantee’, but it finds itself in a piquant situation with ‘Kejriwal ki guarantee’ as AAP is a sensitive ally. It can’t endorse it either as it risks eclipsing Congress’ own ‘guarantees’. While some Delhi Congress leaders are wondering how to streamline the alliance with AAP and the two, yet competing, guarantees, a little bird says at least two Congress LS candidates in Delhi are raring to chant ‘Kejriwal ki guarantee’.Experiencing Choppy RideFund-strapped Opposition parties are facing a major crisis during campaigning — lack of helicopters. Apparently, helicopter companies have demanded that all political parties pay upfront 70% of hiring fee and that too in cheque. This has limited the use of choppers, making it difficult for leaders to cover more constituencies and campaign in remote areas. Last heard, Congress leaders were pushing for a chopper to campaign in the last phases. Specific to RegionEven as India has expanded its regional dialogue partners, Russia remains a close ally for discussing key developments in the region. Senior Russian diplomat and presidential envoy on Afghanistan, Zamir Kabulov, will be in New Delhi this week to engage with his counterparts on the AfPak region and the necessity for an inclusive government in Kabul. Kabulov, a former envoy to Afghanistan, is considered one of the best Afghan experts.

  • Who Is Deepak Babaria? The AICC Gen Secy ‘Behind’ Delhi Congress Chief Arvinder Singh Lovely’s Resignation |

Arvinder Singh Lovely, the Delhi Congress chief, has resigned. This move deals a significant blow to the Congress party during the Lok Sabha elections. Lovely attributed his decision to an alliance with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Deepak Babaria, the AICC Delhi incharge. On Wednesday, Arvinder Singh Lovely expressed his displeasure with the Congress general secretary’s performance in a four-page letter to party president Mallikarjun Kharge.

The Congress Delhi Chief said, “the AICC state in-charge Deepak Babaria is not allowing me to work…he is not permitted to make any appointments in the state.” The in-charge forcibly suspended Rajkumar Chauhan and other senior leaders. “The in-charge got into a fight with Sandeep Dixit and senior leaders.”

He stated, “The AICC general secretary (Delhi in-charge) has unilaterally vetoed all unanimous decisions made by senior Delhi Congress leaders.” Since my appointment as DPCC president, the AICC general secretary has prohibited me from making any senior appointments within the DPCC. My request to appoint a veteran leader as DPCC’s media head was flatly denied. To date, the AICC general secretary has refused to allow the DPCC to appoint all block presidents in the city, leaving more than 150 blocks in Delhi without block presidents.

    Who Is Deepak Babaria?

Deepak Babaria is the AICC’s general secretary (in charge of Delhi). Babaria, a Gujarat-based leader, began his Congress career in the 1970s with the NSUI and Youth Congress.

He was handpicked by Rahul Gandhi for various responsibilities. Rahul Gandhi handpicked him for various responsibilities. Babaria, known as a close confidante of AICC Vice President Rahul Gandhi, is currently in charge of the party’s Delhi and Haryana units. He has also served as the AICC General Secretary in charge of Madhya Pradesh. Babaria had previously been in charge of Kerala.

Arvinder Cites AAP Alliance As Reason Behind His Resignation

Expressing his dissatisfaction with the party’s alliance with the Aam Adami Party (AAP) in the national capital, he stated, “The Delhi Congress unit was opposed to an alliance with a party that was formed solely on the basis of levelling false, fabricated, and mala fide corruption charges against the Congress party, and whose half-cabinet minister is currently in jail on corruption charges. Despite that, the party decided to ally with AAP in Delhi.”

Lovely expressed his dissatisfaction with the selection of candidates for the Lok Sabha elections for the Delhi seat. Despite this, the party chose to align with the AAP in Delhi.”

He stated, “…given the limited number of seats granted to the Congress party in the alliance in Delhi, in the interest of the party in Delhi and to ensure that the tickets are allotted to senior Congress colleagues, I publicly withdrew my name and opted out of being considered as a potential candidate.” While rejecting the views of the DPCC, all observers, and local party workers, the North-West and Northeast Delhi seats were given to two candidates who were complete strangers to the Delhi Congress and party.”

  • Akalis to move resolution against Tytler’s appointment to Delhi Congress Committee

    By ANI

LUDHIANA: Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal on Friday slammed Congress’s decision of appointing Jagdish Tytler as one of the permanent invitees to the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee and said that his party will move a resolution in the upcoming Punjab assembly session on November 8 demanding his arrest.

Addressing a press conference in Ludhiana, Badal said, “Akali Dal would move a resolution in upcoming Punjab Assembly session on November 8, demanding arrest of Jagdish Tytler and other Congressmen responsible for the 1984 Sikh massacre and action against Gandhi family at whose instance it was conducted.”

“Congress is supporting the butchers instead of punishing them. Tytler, who is one of the accused in those riots, should immediately be punished,” he said.

Tytler’s name had erupted in connection with the 1984 anti-Sikh riots.

“I am here to pay tribute to all those who were killed in the riots. But if we want to pay them tribute genuinely, then we should boycott the party,” he said.

He further stated that SAD will move a resolution in the State Assembly session, which hopefully would be passed unanimously.

“The party should clear the motive behind appointing Tytler as one of the 37 permanent invitees to the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee. I urge all the Sikhs to boycott Congress,” he added.

  • Delhi Congress passes resolution requesting Rahul Gandhi to take over as party chief

    By PTI
NEW DELHI: The Delhi Congress on Sunday passed three resolutions, including requesting Rahul Gandhi to take over as national president of the party. The other two resolutions passed during a meeting of party senior leaders sought the resignation of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, a party statement said.

The meeting was also attended by AICC general secretary and in-charge of Delhi, Shaktisinh Gohil. “The party passed three resolutions unanimously, requesting Rahul Gandhi to take over as the president of the Indian National Congress, and demanding the resignation of Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for their ‘failures’,” the statement said.

Delhi Congress president Anil Kumar moved the resolutions. “Considering the disturbed and dangerous political situation in the country, Congress needs a dynamic and powerful leader like Rahul Gandhi at the helm,” he said.

Kumar said Gandhi has been waging a determined battle to expose the “misdeeds” of the central government, and that his leading from the front as Congress president was an urgent need to boost the confidence and morale of party workers.

The party statement said that the other resolutions demanded the resignation of Shah and Kejriwal for their “mishandling” of the farmers tractor rally on January 26 and the subsequent violence in Delhi. No immediate reaction was available from the BJP or AAP on the Delhi Congress resolutions.

Gohil underlined that it was time for Congress workers to close ranks and work unitedly to strengthen the party in Delhi, by following the directions and guidelines of party president Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi.

The meeting was attended by former Union ministers Jagdish Tytler and Krishna Tirath, ex-MP Ramesh Kumar, and Kiran Walia, Haroon Yusuf, among others.
