The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for heavy rainfall and thunderstorms in Khunti, Gumla, Simdega, and West Singhbhum districts of Jharkhand today, July 9th. While these four districts are under alert, the weather is expected to be mostly clear in the remaining 20 districts, with only brief cloudy periods and the possibility of light showers. According to meteorologist Abhishek Anand, residents of Jharkhand can expect some respite from the ongoing heavy rainfall on July 10th and 11th. However, the impact of a cyclonic circulation is expected to return to the state from July 12th, potentially bringing more rainfall to a large part of Jharkhand. The weakening of this circulation due to its movement towards northern Chhattisgarh is providing the temporary relief. Additionally, a low-pressure area is forming again in the Bay of Bengal, which could lead to more rain in the coming days. Khunti recorded the highest rainfall on Tuesday, with 18 mm. Ranchi received 6 mm, Bokaro nearly 2 mm, and Jamshedpur 15 mm. Dhanbad saw the highest rainfall in the past 24 hours, with 67 mm recorded. The advisory from the weather scientists to farmers is to ensure proper water drainage in fields before sowing crops, given the recent rainfall and the forecast of more rain. They suggest sowing all crops, except paddy, on ridges. Farmers can also apply necessary pesticides after the rain stops and the sun comes out.
