In a boost to Tripura’s security landscape, Chief Minister Manik Saha revealed that the state’s crime rate plummeted by 8.20% in 2025 from 2024 levels. Addressing the Police Week event in Arundhati Nagar, Agartala, Saha outlined sweeping reforms leveraging cutting-edge technology to empower law enforcers and crush ganja syndicates.

‘Police Week celebrates the valor and sacrifices of our brave officers who protect us daily,’ Saha said, saluting those who perished on duty. He credited sustained police initiatives for the enhanced law and order, extending heartfelt congratulations.

Marking 150 years of service, Tripura Police stands tall as one of India’s veteran forces. Facing tech-savvy criminals, Saha stressed skill upgradation: ‘We’re launching advanced training programs with full government backing.’ Diving into data, cases dropped from 4,033 in 2024 to 3,698 in 2025.

Impressive reductions included 16% in property offenses, 14.54% in bodily harm crimes, and 8.1% in crimes against women. Dedicated women’s safety measures feature round-the-clock desks at all stations and nine women-only outposts statewide.

Traffic enforcement got a revamp with the zero-accident drive, tackling 16 black spots and 84 high-risk areas via interceptors in every district. Accidents fell 8.82%, deaths 13%. The anti-drug crusade intensified, with NDPS filings up, seizures soaring—ganja eradication up 94.71%, destroying Rs 1,641.89 crore worth of narcotics.

As second-line defenders, police nabbed 576 intruders and 102 touts at borders in 2025. Cyber defenses are ramping up with station upgrades. Recruitment surges: 953 constables (318 female) onboard, 916 more and 218 SIs approved soon. The gathering drew top police and administrative brass.
