  • MP horror: Three, including BJP leader, force woman to drink liquor, gang-rape her in farmhouse

    SHADOL: Young girls and women continue to be under attack in Madhya Pradesh. The latest case of a 20-year-old girl being allegedly raped by a 39-year-old primary school teacher has been reported from Shahdol district of the state’s Vindhya region.

    Shockingly, the alleged rape survivor girl has alleged that she was forcibly taken in a car by three men, including the primary school teacher Rajesh Shukla and his two aides, including a local BJP leader Vijay Tripathi.

    The girl has alleged that she was taken to another village, forced to drink liquor and locked in a room, where the primary school teacher raped her with the help of two aides, including Vijay Tripathi, who is the ruling party’s Jaitpur Mandal president.

    All three accused, including the prime accused school teacher and his two aides have been booked under IPC Sections 376D (gang-rape), 342 (wrongful confinement) and 34 (crime with common intent).

    “Raids are being conducted to nab the three accused, who are on the run,” Shahdol district police superintendent Avdhesh Goswami told The New Indian Express on Sunday.

    According to Shahdol police sources, the girl went missing two days back, after which her family reported the matter at Jaitpur police station.

    Just a day later, the girl returned home on Saturday evening, but didn’t speak to anyone due to being in a state of shock.

    Subsequently the girl was taken by cops for recording of statements.

    The girl alleged that she was forcibly taken in a car two days back by the school teacher and two aides to another village, forced to consume liquor and locked in a room, where the school teacher then raped her with the help of the two aides.

    While the police have registered a case of gang-rape in the matter and making efforts to nab the absconding accused, investigations have revealed that the girl was having friendship with the school master and was regularly seen with him.

  • UP woman killed for not cooking; husband, stepson arrested for her murder

    PRATAPGARH: Four people including the husband and the stepson of a 65-year-old woman were arrested on Sunday in connection with her murder in Uttar Pradesh’s Pratapgarh district, police said.

    The body of Baskali Devi was found in Patti area on January 28, Additional Superintendent of Police (East) Surendra Dwivedi told reporters.

    He said based on the complaint lodged by the husband of the deceased, a case was registered against unidentified people.

    The woman’s husband, identified as Jhunnilal Prajapati, Ajay Prajapati, Pradeep Kumar Prajapati, and her stepson Vijay Kumar Prajapati were found involved in the murder.

    The four were arrested on Sunday, the additional SP said.

    Jhunnilal Prajapati confessed to the killing and said he was twice married and Vijay Kumar is his son from the first wife.

    Baskali Devi was his second wife, the accused husband said.

    He also said Baskali used to frequently argue with him.

    On January 27, there was an argument, following which she did not cook.

    This angered Jhunnilal, who along with the other accused killed her, and dumped the body near a canal bridge.

    They also informed ‘Dial-112’ that Baskali has been abducted, and also spread rumour on social media.

    Dwivedi said all the four accused have been sent to jail.

  • UP horror: Three-year-old girl raped by her uncle

    MAU: A three-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her uncle here, police said on Friday.

    The girl was raped on Thursday and a compliant in this regard was filed by her mother against her brother-in-law (girl’s uncle), Superintendent of Police (SP) Sushil G said.

    The accused is absconding and the police is trying to arrest him, the SP said, adding that the medical examination of the girl has been done.

    The matter will be taken to the fast track court to ensure justice to the girl.

  • Woman’s severed head retrieved from well in UP’s Fatehpur two days after murder; two arrested

    FATEHPUR: Two people were arrested on Monday after a woman’s headless torso was found in a field here and the severed head retrieved from a well, as police looks for the man she had eloped with two months ago.

    The duo was initially taken into custody for questioning after the dismembered body was found in the agricultural field in Sarwal village on Saturday.

    The head was found in Sevaramau village in the Asothar police station area on Monday based on information divulged by them, the police said.

    Both have been arrested, Superintendent of Police, Fatehpur, Satpal said.

    According to the police, the woman, aged around 22, was from Rae Bareli district, and she had eloped two months ago.

    “The identity of the woman (in the age group of 22-23) has been ascertained. She is a resident of Rae Bareli district, and two months ago, she had eloped with her lover. The prime accused is absconding, and efforts are on to arrest him,” the SP said.

  • Rajasthan BJP MLA booked for rape on pretext of marriage

    UDAIPUR: A BJP MLA in Rajasthan’s Udaipur has been booked for allegedly raping a woman on the pretext of marriage.

    The FIR against Gogunda MLA Pratap Lal Bheel (52) was registered at Sukher Police Station on Thursday.

    ‘The medical examination of the victim, who is aged around 35 years, was conducted and statements were recorded yesterday (Thursday),’ SP Udaipur Rajeev Pachar said.

    The case was referred to the CID for investigation, he added.

    ‘The victim is from Madhya Pradesh and has alleged that the MLA promised to marry her and then raped her on several occasions. They belong to the same community and have been in touch for a few years,’ another police officer said.

    ​The MLA was not available for comment.

  • 80-year-old woman raped in Uttar Pradesh village

    MAHOBA: An 80-year-old woman was allegedly raped in a village in Kharela area here, police said on Friday.

    The incident took place on February 2 when the woman was alone in the house as her family members were out attending a religious function, SHO, Kharela, Anil Kumar said.

    A complaint was lodged by the victim’s grandson who alleged that two people entered the house from the terrace and one of them identified as Phoolchandra alias Phullu raped the woman, Kumar said.

    An FIR was registered against Phoolchandra, a resident of Jalalpur area in Hamirpur and an unidentified person on Thursday, the SHO said.

    Kumar said the accused are absconding.

  • Woman raped in Raipur; four persons, including two minors, held

    RAIPUR: A 19-year-old woman has been allegedly raped by a man, while his three friends also tried to sexually assault her in Chhattisgarh’s Raipur district, a police official said on Thursday.

    The incident took place late Tuesday evening following which two of the accused men have been arrested, while the two others, who are minors, have been detained, he said.

    At around 8.30 pm on Tuesday, when the survivor and her two male friends were sitting at a deserted place while returning from a market, the four accused reached there on a motorcycle.

    They allegedly beat up the woman’s friends, took away their cash and forced them to leave, the official from Mandir Hasaud police said.

    One of the accused, aged 22, then allegedly raped the woman, the official said.

    When his other associates also tried to sexually assault the woman, some locals reached there.

    The accused then fled from the spot, he said.

    Later, the survivor along with her parents went to the police station and lodged an FIR.

    The police subsequently arrested two of the accused and detained two minor boys.

    A case has been registered under relevant Indian Penal Code sections, the official said.

  • UP man gets seven years in jail for murdering wife for dowry

    PRATAPGARH: A local court has sentenced a man and his parents to seven-year imprisonment for killing his wife for dowry in 2014.

    Additional Sessions Judge Santosh Kumar Tiwari awarded the sentence on Wednesday to Sanjay Shukla, his father Radhey Shyam, mother Gayatri Devi and three others identified as Vijay Shukla, Ajay and Rajesh.

    Sadhna was killed on March 31, 2014 following which a dowry death case was registered by her father.

  • Suspecting wife of infidelity, man kills minor daughter in Gujarat

    AHMEDABAD: A 23-year-old man allegedly killed his five-year-old daughter suspecting his wife of infidelity in Gujarat’s Anand district, police said on Thursday.

    The Anklav taluka police on Wednesday arrested Shailesh Padhiyar, a farmer, for strangling his daughter at a field near his house in Mujkuva village, sub-inspector P K Sodha said.

    Investigations have revealed that the accused quarrelled with his wife frequently and suspected that his daughter was born out of an extramarital affair, he said.

    “On January 26, Padhiyar approached the police claiming that someone had killed his daughter by strangling her,” the official said.

    The police found something amiss and on interrogation, the accused broke down and admitted to the crime, he said.

    Padhiyar took the child to a field and strangled her, following which he returned home and started looking for her, before approaching the police, the official added.

  • Minor girl raped in UP village

    BANDA: A 5-year-old girl was allegedly raped in a village in Uttar Pradesh’s Banda district, police said on Saturday.

    The incident took place on Friday night in the village under the Girwa police station area, they said.

    A man has been arrested in this connection, Circle Officer (CO) Nareni Siyaram said.

    The 23-year-old man had lured the minor to a secluded spot by offering her Rs 10.

    He allegedly raped the girl there, the CO said.

    When the girl’s family went to the house of the accused to complain about the incident, he and his family members threatened to kill them, police said.

    A First Information Report (FIR) was lodged under the Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

    The accused was arrested on Friday night and three of his family were held for issuing life threats, the CO said.

    The girl, who is in a serious condition, has been admitted to hospital and additional force has been deployed in the village as a precautionary measure, he added.
