A recent case has brought the family’s claims regarding Nikki Bhati’s death into question. Nikki, who was allegedly murdered in Greater Noida last week, was cremated by some members of her in-laws’ family. Her father-in-law played an active role in the last rites. Nikki passed away on Thursday night, August 21st. Her sister Kanchan, who is also married into the same family residing in Sirsa village, Greater Noida, claimed Nikki was set on fire and killed by her husband Vipin and other in-laws. Kanchan stated she fainted upon witnessing her sister burning, and the in-laws subsequently fled. However, a video has surfaced showing Nikki’s father-in-law and other in-laws present at the cremation, with the pyre being lit by her father-in-law. Hours after the funeral, Nikki’s family filed an FIR accusing her husband Vipin, Kanchan’s husband Rohit, and her in-laws of murder, leading to their arrest. During his arrest, Vipin attempted to take a police officer’s pistol and was injured after the officer retaliated with a shot. Another video showed Vipin and a woman dragging Nikki by her hair, with Vipin appearing shirtless and with blood marks. Kanchan revealed that both sisters endured constant mental and physical abuse in their in-laws’ house, with demands for additional dowry cited as a reason. She also mentioned being severely beaten on the Thursday morning in question.

The last rites of the late Shibu Soren, former Chief Minister of Jharkhand, were performed with full religious rituals on Tuesday. The cremation took place in his ancestral village, Nemra, under the Gola block of Ramgarh district. A large crowd of his well-wishers gathered there.

Early on Tuesday, people began arriving at Nemra upon learning of the final rites of Shibu Soren, known as Guruji. The district administration had set up barricades at Lukaiyatand, about seven kilometers before the village. Arrangements were made for VIPs, including a helipad and vehicles. The VIPs were able to use the route designated by the district administration. However, supporters of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) and Shibu Soren chose to walk the seven-kilometer distance.

Ordinary people reached Nemra on foot from Lukaiyatand. There was no space to walk on the roads. The path repaired by the district administration to reach the crematorium was also filled with mud. Arrangements were made to carry the body by placing planks in the paddy fields and mud. When the common people found no way, they took to the footpaths in the fields. Shibu Soren’s supporters reached the crematorium through different footpaths. The most significant thing was that when it started raining, some people took shelter in tents. However, the supporters of Shibu Soren stood their ground in this situation. They stood in the rain for about half an hour and finally returned after paying their respects to their leader.
