Following the reduction of GST rates in the country, the Commercial Tax Department of Madhya Pradesh issued a gazette notification exempting beef from GST, effectively making it 0%. This move has sparked controversy, with Madhya Pradesh Congress President Jitu Patwari vehemently opposing the decision, claiming it promotes beef exports. He stated that the Congress party will strongly protest this decision.

On Tuesday, September 23rd, in Bhopal, Jitu Patwari held a press conference with priests, heavily criticizing the central and state governments. He alleged that the central government has exempted the meat of bovine animals from GST. He stated that while the government makes grand statements about cows, it simultaneously allows their slaughter. He announced that the state Congress will oppose this decision and will launch a state-wide protest on September 26-27.

Patwari emphasized that the Congress party will not allow cows to be slaughtered under any circumstances and will prevent beef exports. He accused the BJP of using the cow for votes while failing to protect them. He stated that India is the world’s largest exporter of beef, with records broken during PM Modi’s tenure.

The Congress leader also criticized the state government, alleging that it has become a haven for the mafia and that the Vallabh Bhavan has become a hub for them. He also recalled Rahul Gandhi’s description of GST as ‘Gabbar Singh Tax,’ which he said continues to harm the country’s economy. Patwari accused the Modi government of making decisions like demonetization and GST to benefit the rich.

Jitu Patwari declared that the faces of the ‘fake cow devotees’ would be exposed to the public. He stated that the Congress party will organize a movement that will include visiting all cow shelters. He added that Congress workers would take stray cows on the streets to the collector’s office.

In response, BJP MLA Rameshwar Sharma refuted Patwari’s claims, stating that he did not find any such provision in the GST list. He also alleged that the Congress has ties with cow smugglers. BJP MLA Rameshwar Sharma declared that those who slaughter cows have a place in jail.

Sharma clarified that the BJP government had already enacted a law in 2004 to stop cow slaughter. He criticized the Congress for not speaking on cow slaughter, especially considering instances in Kerala. He mentioned that the Congress government led by Kamal Nath, in which Jitu Patwari was a minister, was bringing laws in favor of cow smugglers and wanted to jail cow herders.

He further stated that Madhya Pradesh has a provision for 10 years of imprisonment for cow slaughter and smuggling, and that many smugglers and butchers are already in jail under this law.

Shankaracharya Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati announced his support for independent candidates in the Bihar Assembly elections who are committed to taking action against cow slaughter. The announcement marks the beginning of a Sanatani political initiative ahead of the elections. A ‘Gau Raksha Sankalp Yatra’ was organized in Purnia. The Shankaracharya stated that despite seven decades and numerous promises, no political party has committed to acting against cow slaughter. He declared that they will vote for ‘Gau Raksha’ and Sanatan Dharma in the Bihar elections. He will support independent candidates in the state elections, and the names of the candidates will not be disclosed immediately. He also mentioned that they will field candidates in all 243 seats in the upcoming elections. He criticized political parties, noting that atrocities against cows are increasing without any action. He appealed to voters to support candidates who consider cow slaughter a sin and work for ‘Gau Raksha’. He also claimed that beef exports are increasing, even under the BJP-led NDA government, and urged the central government to take active steps in this regard.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has defended his administration’s warning against offering namaz on streets, stating that roads are meant for public movement. He emphasised that religious discipline should…

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has defended his administration’s warning against offering namaz on streets, stating that roads are meant for public movement. He emphasised that religious discipline should be maintained, citing the Maha Kumbh Mela as an example where Hindus gathered in large numbers without any incidents of crime or disorder.Criticism of Waqf Boards and the Need for ReformIn an interview with PTI, Adityanath criticized the Waqf (Amendment) Bill’s detractors and accused Waqf boards of being centers of corruption and property grabbing. He questioned their contribution to the welfare of Muslims despite possessing vast properties.”It (Waqf) has become a medium to capture any government property. This reform is the need of the hour, and all reforms draw opposition. I believe Muslims will benefit from this (proposed law),” he said.No Discrimination Against Muslims, Says CMAdityanath dismissed allegations of discrimination against Muslims in Uttar Pradesh. He pointed out that while Muslims constitute 20% of the state’s population, they make up 35-40% of the beneficiaries of government welfare schemes.
“We always keep ourself away from appeasement. Any needy who is a citizen of India should get every benefit of the government,” he said.

Live Events
Defense of Bulldozer ModelThe Chief Minister also defended his administration’s use of bulldozers for clearing illegal encroachments. He stated that the bulldozer is a tool for both development and law enforcement.”It seems to me that we have shown how it can be used in a better way,” he said, adding that none of the adverse Supreme Court observations against bulldozer action were related to Uttar Pradesh. He claimed that the apex court had, in fact, appreciated the guidelines adopted by the state.Attack on Samajwadi Party Over Cow Slaughter Allegationsdityanath also targeted the Samajwadi Party over remarks made by its president Akhilesh Yadav. He claimed that the party had connections with butchers and that cows were slaughtered during its rule.
“That is why their chief (Akhilesh Yadav) finds foul smell in cow dung,” Adityanath said at an event in Bareilly.

Responding to Yadav’s statement that the BJP prefers “durgandh” (foul smell) and is building gaushalas instead of perfume parks, Adityanath alleged that the Samajwadi Party abandoned stray cows and had links with butchers.

“The Samajwadi Party gave us the destitute cow. They left cows unclaimed. The Samajwadi Party chief says that cow dung stinks. This is their reality because they used to hand over the cow to butchers,” he said.

He further accused the party of protecting cow smugglers. “When we sent the butchers on the way to ‘jahannum’ (hell), they started complaining. Their problem is that all their butcher friends went to hell,” he said.
Politics Not a Full-Time Job for AdityanathDismissing speculation about his future political ambitions, Adityanath stated that he remains a Yogi at heart and is focused on serving the people of Uttar Pradesh.
“Politics is not a full-time job for me,” he said in an interview with PTI. “My primary role is serving the people of Uttar Pradesh, as entrusted by my party.”
