    Ahead of the New Year, people are getting into party-mood but new strain from UK has induced fear in the minds of people. Amid scare of the new Covid-19 strain, many states have announced restrictions including big gatherings and night curfew for New Year’s eve. Till now 25 people are found to be infected with the new virus in India.

    The central government has advised restrictions to keep large gatherings to a minimum, So, here’s the list of states that have decided to impose restrictions on New Year’s eve.

    As per an order signed by Chief Secretary of Delhi Vijay Dev, no new year celebratory events, congregations, and gatherings at public places will be permitted from 11 pm of December 31 to 6 am of January 1, and also from 11 pm of January 1 to 6 am of January of 2.

    A detailed assessment of the situation in Delhi has been made and considering the threat posed by the mutant UK strain of COVID-19 virus and after observing the local incidents of Covid-19 pandemic in Delhi, it is apprehended that gatherings, congregations, and public celebrations of New Year pose a considerable threat of the spread of the virus and may cause a setback to the appreciable gains made in the suppression of chain of transmission of COVID-19 cases in Delhi,” the order said.

    There will, however, be no restriction on the interstate and intrastate movement of persons and goods during the curfew period.According to S Chaitanya, spokesperson of the Mumbai Police, the night curfew will remain in place from 11 pm on December 31 till 6 am on January 1, along with Section 144. “Night curfew to remain in place from 11 pm today to 6 am tomorrow. Section 144 to remain imposed prohibiting the gathering of 5 or more persons. No parties will be allowed in restaurants, pubs, bars, beaches, rooftops, or boats,”

    As the recent surge of cases of new coronavirus strain in UK has caused a stir across the world, Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan on December 21 informed that “the government is alert” and that “there is no need to panic”. Over 1,000 cases of the coronavirus variant have been discovered in the past few days in England and majorly in the south of the country where British Health Secretary Matt Hancock had said can be connected to a surge in the cases.

  • COVID-19 in India crosses 91 lakh cases, 44,059 cases filed in last 24 hours, 511 deaths

    After the arrival of 44,059 new cases of Kovid-19 in the country, the infection cases in the country has crossed 91 million, out of which 8,562,641 people have become infection free.

    According to the updated data from the Union Health Ministry at 8 am, the cases of infection in the country have increased to 9,139,865. At the same time, after the death of 511 more people, the death toll increased to 133,738.
    The number of active cases in the country for 13 consecutive days is less than five lakh.

    According to statistics, 443,486 people are undergoing treatment in the country, which is 4.85 percent of the total cases. The recovery rate of patients in the country is 93.68 percent. The death rate from Kovid-19 is 1.46 percent.

    According to Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), till November 22, a total of more than 13.25 crore samples were tested for Kovid-19, out of which 849,596 samples were tested on Sunday.

    Total cases of Kovid-19 in India are 20 lakh on 7 August, 30 lakh on 23 August, 40 lakh on 5 September, 50 lakh on 16 September, beyond 60 lakh on 28 September, 70 lakh on 11 October and 29 October. Has crossed 80 lakhs.

    According to the data, it took 21 days to reach the total number of cases of Kovid-19 infection in India from 10 lakh to 20 lakh, while it took 16 more days for the number of 20 to 30 lakh. However, it has taken only 13 days to reach 30 lakh to 40 lakh. At the same time, it took only 11 days to cross the number of 50 lakhs after 40 lakhs. It took 12 days for the number of cases to be 50 lakh to 60 lakh. It took 13 days for 60 to 70 lakhs. It took 19 days to be 70 to 80 lakhs.
    In the country in 110 days, the cases of Kovid-19 were one lakh and in 59 days they had crossed 10 lakh.

    The senior bureaucrat held out hope for the coronavirus disease (Covid-19)-battered economy, which he said was recovering fast and an imminent third stimulus would further accelerate its growth.\

    The PM will preside over the Virtual Global Investor Roundtable-20 (VGIR-20) on Thursday (November 5). It would focus on discussions around India’s economic and investment outlook, structural reforms and the government’s vision for the path to a $5 trillion economy, Bajaj said.

    The roundtable would be attended by the world’s 20 largest pension and sovereign wealth funds, who have around $6 trillion assets under their management, he said.

    Bajaj said some of them are looking at India as an investment destination for the first time. Some of the prominent funds that would be participating in the event are Australian Super, British Columbia Investment Management Corporation, Future Fund, GIC, Japan Post Bank, Japan Bank for International Cooperation, Korean Investment Corporation, Mubadala, Nippon Life, Pension Denmark, Qatar Investment Authority and US International Development Finance Corporation.

    Bajaj said the Indian economy was showing strong signs of recovery as this was the opportune moment for the government to engage with global investors, who are looking for an alternative market to China.

    In September, Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) for manufacturing was highest in a decade at 56.8.

    The PMI, which had plunged below 40 in the first four months of the current financial year, was at 49.8 in September, and close to the benchmark of 50.

    An index of over 50 in PMI indicates expansion.

  • India’s total COVID-19 cases surge to 79,90,322 with 43,893 new infections in 24 hrs

    The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) on Wednesday (October 28) said that India’s total cases surged to 79,90,322 with 43,893 new COVID-19 infections.

    With 508 new deaths, the death toll has mounted to 1,20,010, according to the Union Health Ministery. Total active cases stand at 6,10,803 after a decrease of 15,054 in the last 24 hours. Total cured cases stand at 72,59,509 with 58,439 new discharges in the last 24 hours.With 1,32,069 total active cases, Maharashtra continues to be the worst affected state by COVID-19 in the country. While 14,78,496 patients have recovered from the disease in the state, 43,463 have died so far.

    West Bengal has 37,172 active cases, while Tamil Nadu and the national capital Delhi have 27,734 and 27,873 active cases respectively.

    Meanwhile, a total of 10,54,87,680 samples have been tested for COVID-19 up to October 27. Of these 10,66,786 samples were tested yesterday, said the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).

    Union Minister Ramdas Athawale tested positive for COVID-19. He has been admitted to Bombay Hospital as a precautionary measure, confirmed his office.

    Taking it to Twitter, Athawale informed about his health.Earlier, the 60-year-old Union minister was seen in a viral video chanting “go corona, go corona”. He can be credited with coining this slogan which was later mocked at on social media. On Monday, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, too, had tested positive for coronavirus and was admitted to Breach Candy hospital in South Mumbai on the advice of doctors where he is undergoing treatment for coronavirus infection.

  • India’s COVID-19 tally reaches 79,46,429 with spike of 36,469 cases in 24 hrs

    Meanwhile, a total of 10,44,20,894 samples have been tested for COVID-19 up to 26th October. Of these 9,58,116 samples were tested yesterday, said the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).

    With 36,469 new COVID-19 cases, India’s total cases surged to 79,46,429, said the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW).

    With 488 new deaths, the toll mounted to 1,19,502, as per the Ministry. the total active coronavirus cases are 6,25,857 after a decrease of 27,860 in the last 24 hours. The total cured cases are 72,01,070 with 63,842 new discharges in the last 24 hours.

    With 1,34,657 total active cases, Maharashtra continues to be the worst affected state by COVID-19 in the country. While 14,70,660 patients have recovered from the disease in the state, 43,348 have died so far.

    Among other severely affected states, Karnataka has 75,442 active cases, while 7,19,558 people have recovered and 10,947 have succumbed to the coronavirus.

    Kerala has 93,848 active cases, while 3,02,017 patients have been cured so far in the state along with 1,352 deaths reported due to the disease.

  • Health Min Harsh Vardhan Launches CSIR Partnered Clinical Trials Website ‘CUReD’

    Union Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan on Tuesday, October 20, launched an online portal that provides comprehensive information about the numerous COVID-19 clinical trials that CSIR (Council of Scientific & Industrial Research) is engaged in a partnership with Industry, ministries, and other government departments.

    The website called ‘CuRED’ or ‘CSIR Ushered Repurposed Drugs’ gives information about the drugs, diagnostics and devices including the current stage of the trials, partnering institutions and their role in the trials and other details, according to the official release of the Ministry of Science and Technology. The Union Minister praised the CSIR’s efforts in being at the forefront of the fight against COVID-19 and giving preference to clinical trials, generating data for their regulatory approval and supporting launch drugs and diagnostics in the market. The ministry further informed that CSIR is exploring various combinations of clinical trials of anti-virals with host-directed therapies for the potential treatment of COVID-19.
