  • Forest Minister reviewed various works being done in Rajnandgaon district

    The Minister of Forests and in-charge of Rajnandgaon district, Shri Mohammad Akbar today reviewed the construction works being carried out from various items including District Mineral Fund in Rajnandgaon district through video conferencing from his residence office in Raipur. He instructed the collector to provide detailed information about district panchayat and gram panchayat-wise construction works soon.
    Collector Mr. Topswar Verma informed that three thousand 602 works worth Rs 87.77 crore have been approved in the year 2019-20 and 2020-21 from various items including District Mineral Fund in the district. Out of these 2004 works have been completed and 329 works are in progress. Sanctioned works include 46 Anganwadi centers, 14 Panchayat buildings, 28 PDS buildings, 465 paddy collection chabutra, 37 plant preparation work (nursery), plantations in 221 roadside and Gauthan sites, 394 Gowthan, 211 pastures and 2186 Narva development works.

  • With 44,878 new COVID19 infections, India’s total cases surge to 87,28,795

     With 44,878 new COVID-19 infections reported in the last 24 hours, India’s total cases surged to 87,28,795, the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) said on Friday.

    With 547 new deaths reported in the last 24 hours, the toll has mounted to 1,28,688.

    The total number of active cases in the country stands at 4,84,547 after a decrease of 4,747 in the last 24 hours. Total cured cases are 81,15,580 with 49,079 new discharges in the last 24 hours.

    According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), a total of 12,31,01,739 samples have been tested for COVID-19 up to 12th November, of these 11,39,230 samples were tested yesterday.

    Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan on Wednesday said that India’s COVID-19 response approach has been pre-emptive, proactive and graded, keeping in mind the large population of the country.

  • PM Modi will unveil the life-size statue of Swami Vivekananda at JNU campus

    Prime Minister Narendra Modi is to unveil a life-size statue of Swami Vivekananda at Jawaharlal Nehru University on Thursday. PM will unveil the statue through video conferencing at 6.30 pm. However, controversy has started over the statue’s unveiling. JNUSU has opposed the PM’s program of statue unveiling. In protest against this program, JNUSU will stage a sit-in at the North Gate of the university from 5 pm today. JNUSU has appealed the students to gather at the North Gate of the University.

    Earlier, Vice Chancellor of the University, M Jagadish Kumar told on Sunday that PM Modi will unveil a life-size statue of Swami Vivekananda on November 12 in the JNU campus. The event will be conducted through video conferencing. Jagdish Kumar also said in an official statement that after the unveiling of the statue there will be a program on Swami Vivekananda.

    In his official statement, VC said, ‘Swami Vivekananda is one of the most learned men and spiritual leaders in India. India feels proud by having such a distinction. He gave the message of freedom, development and peace and harmony to the youth. With the support of JNU alumni, the statue of Swami Vivekananda has been installed in the university campus.

  • Land acquisition for setting up Nagarnar Steel Plant will be completed by the end of November

    The Cabinet Secretary of the Government of India, Shri Rajiv Goba today inquired from the Chief Secretaries of the state about the progress of multi-purpose road project-rail project-iron-steel projects being constructed in the states through video conferencing. Mr. Goba inquired about the steel plant to be set up in Nagarnar village in Bastar district of Chhattisgarh. Chief Secretary Shri R.P. The Board informed that out of 61 villages affected by the construction of Nagarnar Steel Plant, land acquisition and other processes have been completed in 57 villages. The process of land acquisition in the remaining four villages will be completed by the end of November 2020. Additional Chief Secretary Forest Industry Department Mr. Manoj Pingua and Secretary Revenue Department Ms. Rita Shandilya were also present in the meeting.

  • PM Modi to hand over 614 crore projects to Parliamentary constituency Varanasi

    Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate and lay the foundation of 30 projects worth Rs 614 crore in Varanasi via video conferencing on Monday, a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader said on Sunday.

    At a press conference on Sunday, Kashi region BJP president Mahesh Chandra Srivastava said that PM Modi will inaugurate 16 schemes worth over Rs 219 crore and lay the foundation of 14 projects worth over Rs 394 core.

    BJP unit chief in Uttar Pradesh Swatantra Dev Singh and four ministers will attend the ceremony at different venues in the city, he said.

    Srivastava said the transformation taking place in Kashi since 2014 was visible on the ground, He underlined that there was a big difference between the Varanasi of 2020 and the situation in the city pre-2014.

    As the local MP, PM Modi had left no stone unturned to ensure all-round development of Varanasi, he said. The cleanliness mission had made lanes and ghats clean, he added.

    Six places have been selected for the live telecast of Monday’s programme in the city. Locals and party workers will join the event at the Circuit House, Dashashwamedh Ghat, Shultankeshwar Temple, Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport and Trade Facilitation Centre.

    Navratan Rathi, Kashi region BJP media in-charge, said state BJP chief Swatantra Dev Singh, minister in-charge of Varanasi Ashutosh Tandon, minister of state (independent charge) Ravindra Jaiswal and the party’s Kashi region president Mahesh Chand Srivastava, will remain present at the Circuit House.

    Similarly, UP BJP co-incharge Sunil Ojha and Cantt MLA Saurabh Srivastava will be present at the commissioner’s auditorium.

    Minister of state (independent charge) for tourism and religious affairs Neelkanth Tiwari, along with party workers, will be present at Dashashwamedh Ghat. Cabinet minister Anil Rajbhar will be present at the venue of the Trade Facilitation Centre, Bada Lalpur.

    MLAs Avadhesh Singh and Surendra Singh will attend the function at the airport and Shultankeshwar temple respectively.

    Among the projects that Modi will inaugurate are an upgraded Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital, Ramnagar, infrastructure facilities for protection and conservation of cows, multipurpose seed storehouse, agriculture produce warehouse of 100 MT, Integrated Power Development Scheme phase 2, housing complex for sportspersons at Sampurnanand Stadium, Varanasi city smart lighting work and 105 anganwadi kendras.

    The local unit of the Congress has objected to the unveiling ceremony of the projects due to the model code of conduct for the legislative council polling to elect graduate constituency members. Congress leader Ajay Rai says that the so-called developmental projects unveiling ceremony is a violation of the model code of conduct. The administration should stop it. A Congress delegation on Saturday submitted a memorandum to the divisional commissioner Deepak Agarwal asking him to stop the event.

  • Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel to launch several schemes on November 1

    Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel will launch two key schemes related to distribution of fortified rice and setting up of English medium schools on Sunday during ‘Rajyotsav’ statehood celebrations, an official said.

    Former AICC chief and MP Rahul Gandhi will take part online in the first phase of the function from noon while state Governor Anusuiya Uikey will attend the next phase through video conferencing from 1:30 pm, an official said.

    Chhattisgarh came into existence on November 1, 2000 after the bifurcation of Madhya Pradesh.

    Unlike previous years, Rajyotsav is being held in two phases in a simple manner this year at the CM’s official residence due to the coronavirus outbreak, said the public relations department official.

    “In the first phase, the CM will release the third installment of cash benefit under Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojna to 18.38 lakh farmers. He will also inaugurate Swami Atmanand Government English Medium School Scheme which aims at providing education in the language. Initially, 52 schools will be started,” he informed.

    The CM will launch mobile hospital-cum-laboratories in 30 areas under Chief Minister Urban Slum Health Scheme, he said.

    “In the second phase of Rajyotsav function, state awards will be given. The CM will dedicate five tourist resorts constructed under the Tribal Tourism Circuit. He will also perform e-bhoomi pujan (ground breaking) of development and beautification works at Rajim and Shivrinarayan under Ram Van Gaman Path tourism circuit project,” he said.

    The fortified rice distribution scheme, under which iron and vitamin enriched rice will be given through PDS etc, will be started on a pilot basis in Kondagaon district to fight malnutrition.

    Baghel will also dedicate 132/33 KV Power Sub Station in Bijapur and the 87.5 kilometre long 132 KV Barsur-Bijapur line, which will ensure electricity supply to 23 remote villages in the Naxal-affected district, he added.
