  • Showing replay on screen before 15 seconds was costly: Virat Kohli on DRS

India captain Virat Kohli wasn’t happy that his team lost out on a perfect DRS call just because replay of the delivery bowled to Matthew Wade was shown on giant screen before the permissible limit of 15 seconds.
India lost the third T20 International by 12 runs and one of the reasons could be attributed to the fact that Wade, who could have been adjudged leg before off T Natarajan at a score of 50, got a lucky reprieve and added 30 more runs.

“That lbw was a strange one because we were still discussing whether the ball was going down and within the 15-second time, they showed the replay on the screen,” Kohli said at post match conference on Tuesday.

  • Canada Plans To Start COVID-19 Vaccine Delivery By January

The Canadian government is targeting January as the starting point for distribution COVID-19 vaccine throughout the country, vaccine distribution Czar Major General Dany Fortin revealed during a press conference. Fortin, who was appointed at the position last week, stressed that the Canadian military was scheduled to perform a “dry run” of the plan on December 7. If things go as planned, they would then set up provincial distribution points by December 14 and be fully prepared for inoculation by December 25.

With over 3,90,000 cases and 12,300 deaths, Canada is now prepping to battle a possible second wave of the infection. Earlier this month, Prime Minister Trudeau touted the possibility of a COVID-19 vaccine by early in 2021. In addendum, he had also said that most of the residents would probably be vaccinated by next September.

Meanwhile, Major General Fortin also said that the federal government would contract private logistics firms to facilitate the distribution. Reaffirming his stance on early distribution, he said that the distribution contracts to the firms would be awarded as early as December 15.

  • WHO Says Foreign Experts Will Visit China To Probe COVID-19 Origin

China has reassured that it would allow international experts to get inside the country in order to investigate the animal origins of COVID-19, World Health Organization said on November 23. The UN agency, in July, had sent a team of experts to lay the groundwork for investigation. However, it has remained unclear whether international scientists would be allowed inside China to conduct epidemiological studies and identify the first human cases of COVID-19 and source of infection.

But Michael Ryan, WHO emergency director, speaking at a virtual press conference said that they have got reassurance from the Chinese government that their “trip to field” would be facilitated and be held as soon as possible. “We need to be able to have the international team join our Chinese colleagues… and look at the results and the outcomes of (their) studies and verify the data on the ground,” he added.

Scientists across the world believe that the virus jumped from bats to humans in a market selling exotic meat in Wuhan. However, lately, many have opined that the COVID-19 may have emerged at a place where the infection was amplified. Many experts also believe that intermediate host animals such as pangolins might have expedited the spread.

WHO has been trying to send a team to China since the beginning of the outbreak, however, it has been stalled owing to denial of permissions by China’s communist government. However, with the recent reassurance, experts are now hoping to find the origin of the COVID-19 virus which has killed over 1396359 people across the world with over 257671 only in America.

  • David Warner on Virat Kohli missing Test series

Before India travelled to Australia for the upcoming series, a huge news came from the BCCI camp – India captain Virat Kohli was granted paternity leave and will only play the first Test of the four-match Test series starting December 17th. The decision meant that vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane may have to step up as captain to lead the Indian team Down Under in the longest format.

While cricketing pundits have acknowledged Kohli’s decision to spend time with his family as the correct one, the fans continue to wonder if the Indian team can pose a challenge to the Australian team in Kohli’s absence.

Australia start opening batsman David Warner was asked in a virtual press conference facilitated by the official broadcaster Sony, regarding his thoughts on Rahane leading the Indian team. In his reply, Warner said that Rahane would bring a different approach to captaincy than Kohli.

The tribunal had rejected Beijing’s claim to the South China Sea based on the “nine-dash line”.

India, on the other hand, has availed the services of the Permanent Court of Arbitration, in resolving international disputes with other countries. Some of these resolutions include the Kishenganga Arbitration with Pakistan under the Indus Water Treaty, the Maritime Boundary delimitation with Bangladesh, and the Italian Marines case.

  • NDA gets majority with 125 seats in Bihar, Mahagathbandhan gets 110 seats

On the political pitch of Bihar, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) once again won in a breath-stopping match on the lines of T20. Bihar voters prefer Tejashwi’s youth-led opposition grand alliance to veteran leadership of NDA led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar

In the results of all 243 seats of Bihar Assembly late on Tuesday, the ruling NDA in the state has achieved the magic figure of majority with 125 seats. The RJD-led opposition grand alliance is reduced to 110 seats. In this election, AIMIM has won five seats, LJP and BSP one each. Independent candidate has also won one seat. At the same time, exit polls again failed to capture the mood of the people of Bihar.

At the same time, the RJD, which is involved in the opposition grand alliance, won 74 seats, Congress won 19 seats, CPI Male 12 seats, CPI and CPI-M won two seats each. In this election, AIMIM has won five seats, LJP and BSP one each. Independent candidate has been successful in winning one seat. At the same time, JDU has won again in the by-election for Valmiki Nagar Lok Sabha constituency.

The RJD’s ally Left benefited while the Congress was at a loss. In the thrilling contest in the first assembly election of the Coronasal, AIMIM gave up the dream of victory of the opposition Grand Alliance. At the same time, NDA’s old ally LJP forced himself to become a ‘younger brother’ of the BJP by ‘martyr’, pushing JDU to number three. Skepticism on the outcome continued till late night. The key to power was sometimes seen in the hands of the NDA and sometimes by the Grand Alliance. Meanwhile, late evening, RJD accused of rigging. At the same time, the Election Commission held a press conference late at one o’clock and rejected all the allegations.
