In a significant victory for anti-insurgency efforts, 50 Naxal cadres, including a notable 32 women, have surrendered to security forces in Chhattisgarh’s Kanker district. This mass surrender, which occurred at the Kamtera camp of the Border Security Force’s 40th Battalion, also saw the handing over of 39 weapons. The operation is considered a major blow to the Maoist network in the sensitive Maad region. Among the prominent figures were senior Naxal leaders such as Rajman Mandavi and Raju Salam, alongside five DVCM-rank operatives and 21 ACM-level cadres. This marks the first wave of surrenders from the northern Maad area, with expectations of another 120 cadres laying down arms in Bijapur district soon. Security forces are continuing outreach programs to encourage further surrenders and reintegrate individuals into society.
