The arrest of eight individuals by Delhi Police for allegedly conspiring a terrorist strike in Tirupur has ignited fierce political backlash. AIADMK leader Edappadi K. Palaniswami wasted no time in trainwrecking the DMK government’s credibility on Sunday, branding it as a catastrophic failure in maintaining security across Tamil Nadu.

In a pointed Facebook statement, Palaniswami referenced detailed media coverage of the bust. He painted a grim picture of Stalin’s regime transforming the state into a hotbed of violence, where everyday crimes have escalated to sophisticated terror schemes. ‘Law and order has collapsed completely,’ he charged.

Recalling the mishandled 2022 Coimbatore explosion, he accused authorities of delaying recognition of its Islamist terror links, opting instead for a trivial gas leak narrative. This, he argued, reflects a dangerous reluctance to confront radical threats head-on.

Palaniswami grilled the government on its inaction amid frequent interventions by national probes like the NIA. ‘Why must external forces like Delhi Police intervene in our backyard?’ he demanded. He cautioned that persistent DMK misrule could revive horrors akin to the 1998 Coimbatore bombings, eroding public trust.

Urging immediate overhaul, the former chief minister emphasized that only ousting the DMK can safeguard Tamil Nadu’s stability. With opposition momentum building, this controversy spotlights vulnerabilities in the state’s counter-terrorism framework and fuels debates on governance efficacy.
