India’s coal sector has delivered yet again, crossing the 1 billion tonne production mark for the second year running. This announcement from the Coal Ministry on Saturday celebrates not just numbers, but a robust framework that powers the economy.

Amid rising energy needs, this accomplishment guarantees uninterrupted coal supply to thermal power stations, which currently hold 53.41 million tonnes in stockpile—enough for over three weeks of operations. Proactive measures at coal mines ensure buffers for anticipated demands.

The synergy among industry players has been key, transforming challenges into opportunities. Recent figures reveal February’s coal output grew by 2.3%, aligning with a broader 2.3% uptick in core infrastructure sectors, including a modest 0.5% rise in electricity generation.

Despite geopolitical tensions in West Asia, India’s energy infrastructure stands firm. The Coal Ministry emphasizes its dedication to a stable, transparent system through policy reforms and vigilant oversight.

Coal India Limited plays a starring role, prioritizing supplies for diverse consumers from SMEs to mega industries. This repeated success story reinforces India’s self-sufficiency narrative, fueling industrial expansion and national development in an unpredictable global landscape.

Significant strides are being made to uplift tribal children in Chhattisgarh. The Central Government, through its Ministry of Tribal Affairs, has initiated a major program to strengthen education for tribal students. A collaboration between the Ministry and Coal India Limited will enhance 68 Eklavya Model Residential Schools, impacting the lives of approximately 28,000 students. This initiative aims to provide better educational opportunities, improve health, and foster self-reliance among tribal children. The program will utilize resources to establish computer labs, provide digital learning tools like computers and tablets (3200 computers and 300 tablets), and implement health and hygiene facilities, including sanitary napkin vending machines and incinerators. Furthermore, the initiative extends beyond academics, offering guidance on higher education and career paths, including startup training and bootcamps in collaboration with institutions like IIM, IIT, and NIT. This aligns with the goals of the National Education Policy 2020, ensuring equal opportunities for all students and is being managed by the National Scheduled Tribes Finance and Development Corporation.
