Bhopal’s corridors of power echoed with progressive healthcare reforms as the Madhya Pradesh Council of Ministers approved rest houses for patients’ kin in medical college hospitals. This Wednesday decision empowers charitable bodies to build these facilities on their dime, freeing the state from fiscal obligations.

Families accompanying patients, especially those from far-flung villages, face acute accommodation shortages. Forced to camp inside hospital premises, they compromise sanitation and personal comfort, indirectly hampering medical services and staff morale.

By offering regulated, low-cost stays, the new setup will alleviate these pressures. A dedicated panel will set fair pricing, ensuring accessibility. The ripple effect? Healthier family support systems, smoother hospital management, and a more harmonious environment for care delivery.

This isn’t isolated. The cabinet also nodded to a whopping Rs 5,479 crore for healthcare advancements, featuring Rs 3,628 crore for the five-year CM Care 2025 program. Plans encompass upgrading current medical institutions and launching a fresh medical college in Mandla, fortifying MP’s health ecosystem for the future.
