  • Spears gives clarification about ‘body shaming’ comments on Christina Aguilera

    By ANI

WASHINGTON: Singer-songwriter Britney Spears has spoken out after she recently faced backlash for ‘body shaming’ Christina Aguilera and her dancers in a social media post.

According to EW, in a new Instagram post, Spears wrote alongside an illustration of two fairies that she did not intend to be critical about Aguilera’s “beautiful body.”

The singer also acknowledged that her original comments were a “projection of the insecurities I deal with all the time as a result of how my parents and the media have treated me.”

She continued, “By no means was I being critical of Christina’s beautiful body, it is what it is. I flew to see her show once and the main thing I noticed was the difference of our people on stage!!! By no means did I even mention Christina, look at my post!!! I was inspired by her show and she is a beautiful woman of power … Thank you @xtina for inspiring me !!!”

Spears said that she would “never intentionally body shame anybody because I know what it feels like.”

She wrote, “I struggle with this because of how I feel about myself, not because I hate how anybody looks … I feel like my family knew I was insecure and people were trying to purposefully feed into this insecurity by not letting me have a choice in the people who were on stage with me.”

Referencing the recent termination of her conservatorship, the ‘Toxic’ singer said she appreciates people being understanding with me as I figure out this new life I’m living.”

The pop star was granted her freedom by a judge in November 2021, 13 years after the legal arrangement was put in place by her estranged father, Jamie.

It was previously reported by EW that Aguilera blocked Spears after the latter shared a controversial Insta post about the size of her and her backup dancer’s bodies, alongside a photo of text that read “I found there was only one way to look thin: hang out with fat people.”

As per EW, Spears’ fans shared their disappointment in the comments section. “Body shaming others is not the move,” one Instagram user wrote, while another added that “This ain’t it.” The singer’s original post remains on her Instagram page as of now.

  • Britney Spears appears to body-shame Christina Aguilera in social media

    By ANI

WASHINGTON: American singer-songwriter Britney Spears recently appeared to have body-shamed Christina Aguilera in a seemingly unprovoked social media post.

According to Fox News, Spears shared a quote by comedian Rodney Dangerfield on her Instagram handle. It read, “I found there was only one way to look thin: hang out with fat people.”

In the post’s caption, the singer wrote, “I wish I could have chosen the nannies for my children … my dancers … I mean if I had Christina Aguilera’s dancers I would have looked extremely small.” She continued, “I mean why not talk about it ??”

Though Spears has maintained a well-liked image in Hollywood, her latest Instagram was poorly received by fans.

One fan commented, “Oof. Love Britt- but this was in bad taste. Body shaming to make yourself feel better is not where it’s at,” while another wrote, “This is rude. I’m disappointed, Britney,” reported Fox News.

Spears had voiced her frustration with Aguilera, just a year ago, for not speaking out enough during her conservatorship predominately controlled by her estranged father, Jamie Spears.

Aguilera was asked to comment on their relationship during an interview in January 2022. There, Aguilera said of Spears that she is “someone I have so much respect and admiration for.”

She added, “I couldn’t be happier for her…every woman deserves to feel empowered and to own that for themselves however they see fit.”

Even though the duo has maintained a contentious relationship, they share several mutual friends — from Madonna to Paris Hilton, both of whom were at Spears’ June wedding.

Following Spears’ latest post, Aguilera has not publicly responded but Entertainment Weekly reported that she unfollowed Spears’ Instagram account, as per Fox News.

  • Britney Spears calls out Christina Aguilera for avoiding questions about conservatorship

    By ANI

WASHINGTON: Pop star Britney Spears, who doesn’t shy away from speaking her mind, called out fellow singer Christina Aguilera after she dodged a question concerning the end of Spears’ 13-year-long conservatorship that gave her father legal control of her life.

Spears took to her Instagram Stories and posted a video of Aguilera, who refused to answer a question about Spears during a recent interview.

The video is from the red carpet at Thursday’s Latin Grammy Awards when Aguilera was asked by a reporter if she has been in touch with Spears following the termination of her conservatorship.

Aguilera can be seen frowning in the video, telling the reporters that she can’t answer the question before walking away and adding, “But I’m happy for her.”

Spears criticised Aguilera writing, “I love and adore everyone who supported me… but refusing to speak when you know the truth, is equivalent to a lie !!!! 13 years being in a corrupt abusive system yet why is it such a hard topic for people to talk about ??? I’m the one who went through it !!!! All the supporters who spoke up and supported me, thank you… yes I do matter !!!!!”

Spears and Aguilera rose to fame together as child stars on Disney’s ‘The Mickey Mouse Club’, on which they co-starred from 1993-1994. As teenagers, they both catapulted to international superstardom at the same time, when female pop singers were rising in the age of ’90s boy bands, alongside Mandy Moore and Jessica Simpson.

Following Spears’ bombshell testimony in June about what she endured during her 13-year-old conservatorship, Aguilera lent her support to Spears by posting a statement, which said, in part, “These past few days I’ve been thinking about Britney and everything she is going through…It is unacceptable that any woman, or human, wanting to be in control of their own destiny might not be allowed to live as they wish.”

While Aguilera was avoiding questions about Spears during the event, singer-actor Lady Gaga, who was at another red carpet event on Thursday, the Los Angeles premiere of her film ‘House of Gucci’, spoke at length about Spears when asked about her freedom.

Spears posted about Gaga to thank her for her words. She wrote on her IG Story, “Thank you Lady Gaga for genuinely taking your time to say something so kind. You made me cry !!! I love you !!!”

In the video posted by Spears, the ‘Star Is Born’ actor said that the way Spears was treated in the business was wrong. She also took a moment to comment on the negative treatment of women in the music business overall.

“I think that she will forever be an inspiration to women,” Gaga said in the video that was shared by Spears.

After Spears posted about Gaga, the star responded by posting a photo on her Instagram Story, writing, “Love you @britneyspears. Live your best life. I prayed for the legal system to treat you like a person. You’ve now changed the course for women in this industry forever. You stood up for yourself and were so brave. Thank you.”

Lady Gaga also spoke to Variety at the premiere of her Oscar-buzzy film. When asked about Spears, she said she would want to collaborate with her. “Of course I would!” Gaga exclaimed on the red carpet.

“Britney is, she’s a woman in this business that showed a lot of power in her sexuality, even in her youth, in a way that, I think for me as a young woman, was just so inspiring and empowering,” Lady Gaga told Variety.

“And I’d like to say this, truly — we can all root for her, but the person who changed her life was her. So this change that’s happening for her, it happened because of her, I believe. I’m excited for her future and I wish her all the best,” she added.

Spears’ conservatorship came to an end recently when Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Brenda Penny terminated the court-ordered arrangement after a contentious, drawn-out legal battle.

Spears was first placed under conservatorship in 2008 with her father, Jamie Spears, overseeing his daughter by the terms of the court-ordered arrangement.

The next hearing is set for January 19 to address pending accounting and other lingering issues.

  • Pink remembers kissing Christina Aguilera, hating her ‘Lady Marmalade’ ‘booty shorts’

    By ANI
WASHINGTON: Ahead of the premiere of the documentary ‘Pink: All I Know So Far’, American singer-songwriter Pink, at the premiere of the Hollywood Bowl, discussed the possibility for a ‘Lady Marmalade’ reunion.

According to Variety, the 42-year-old songstress told Marc Malkin, “I want to see the reunion with all the young girls now. I never say never about anything. All the fun stuff that’s happened in my life has been almost by accident.”

The 2001 version of singer Patti LaBelle’s ‘Lady Marmalade’ became a fan favourite from the ‘Moulin Rouge’ soundtrack.

In the music video, the powerhouse group donned burlesque-inspired looks in line with the theme of the movie, which took Pink some time to get used to.

“I was not happy about my outfit. I did not want to be in booty shorts, but I got into it. Cameras started rolling and I started feeling myself. Now I look at it and I’m like, ‘Oh my god, that body. Why didn’t I appreciate it?’” Pink said.

As reported by Variety, one thing that ‘Cover Me In Sushine’ singer might not be up for again is playing spin the bottle with ‘Lady Marmalade’ collaborator Christina Aguilera. As they reminisced about her career, Malkin recalled Pink’s birthday party in New York City, where the two pop stars shared a kiss.

“When I was painted instead of a shirt? Was is that one? Yes, she kissed me. That was a fun party,” Pink remembered.

Despite the happy memory, she shut down a future recreation of the kiss.

“Nope, I have a 9-year-old dude,” she said, laughing at what her daughter would possibly say: “Is mommy kissing Christina?”

Variety reported that ‘Pink: All I Know So Far,’ which chronicles the singer’s life on the road up to her first performance at Wembley Stadium in England, hits Amazon Prime on May 21.
